  1. Maryville proved again, they are a power! Cleveland only scored because Maryville turned the ball over. Powell and Central are for sure better teams. Nice try Cleveland, you played with class but must learn to pass and run the option with that great speed you have. The wing-T will never be good for anything but the history books! As for Maryville I recommend the coaches look for a punt return man who understands the concept of the fair catch! A fumble in these situations could lead to a loss. Cade played pretty well but he needs to throw the ball alittle deeper, We could ahve finnished Cleveland by the half if the passing game was 3-4 passes more complete. All in All Maryville was clearly the best team of the night. Maryville will be ready for the Saturday Afternoon Boys from the East!
  2. The playing field should be frozen!!! I know I will be along with a few thousand of my closest Maryville Fans. Good luck to all and get there early to fight the Greeenville/MOR West coaches for position on the 50. They should be pulling for Cleveland for sure!!! Go Rebs!!!!
  3. Me thinks Geroge and Jeff Smith will be there with coverage on AM 1400, Maryville
  4. Coach Danny Wilson did have two wins against Maryville when he was at Heritage. His real success concerning Maryville was his offence. Maryville scored on him even during those games. Ofcourse he could not beat many other teams and laid the ground work for what Hertage is today! Coach Wilson is not a factor, the kids on the field are! MHS 38 CHS 13
  5. Moving the game is a good thing because of the field conditions. But the time is in question. I feel like they should still play friday night. I think there will be coaches in the stands in Cleveland. Sevier County is close enough for us Maryville fans to take a look at the game on Sat. I think it will be a cold, wet game on Sat as well.
  6. I wish Cleveland Good luck friday, but simply put, If Maryville does not turn over the ball deep, 3-4 times then this game will not be close. Maryville will be the team that controls the ball and the tempo. Of the posts I have read I think the biggest factor will be condition of the players not the field. Maryville this year does not often strike quickly with back to back Tds, they just keep chipping away at first downs till they get to the goal line. Maryville has scored 509 points and has allowed only 108. Those ave's equal 42-9! Cleveland has scored 384 points to 131. Ave's 32-11! Maryville will score points no question. Cleveland should score some as well. BUT Cleveland will not be able to score enough! See you there MHS 38 CHS 17.
  7. Maryville may win and they may lose. I hope these great young men do win friday night. No matter, this is a great team, school, commuinity and place to live. The records speak for themselves and I am proud to be a Maryville, Fan and Dad. My son works very hard to help his team and has paid a great price to help this great program win. He will again do all he can to win the next game. Win or lose he, the rest of the players and coaches are CHAMPIONS in sport and will be in life where it really counts. Respect to all!
  8. I agree with most on this thred that understand Maryville must defeat a good Cleveland team to advance. I just talked to my son, a Maryville player and he tells me the team is more focused that ever upon the game friday night in Cleveland. For the Morr West fans to look past any team at this point in the post season is a mistake. Greenville has proven they deserve to be in position to make a run at the State Championship. As does MW. Maryville has proven Morr West is very beatable the past two years and if the opportuinty presents itself, Maryville will again focus on doing it again. Good luck to all teams friday. Go Reb's!!
  9. JohnPaul I know Central will be tough, and Maryville will be rebuilding somewhat. This year Maryville has unfinished biz. If the Red Rebels are up fo it they will retire A good Cleveland team to advance to the semi's. Cleveland has a good run game but Maryville won't let teams run on them. Just ask Powell, Central, KnoxWest and other strong running teams. See ya friday and bring your game face brother!!
  10. Good Luck Coach D and thanks for your effort. For sure Alcoa needs a new coach and plan for a great bunch of young guys. How about coach from Heritage or the Coach who was there before him? He wanted the WB job but was not picked for it. Good luck Alcoa, a Blount County Program, the home of State Champs!!!
  11. Jpats: Ya think Cleveland will score 49 on Maryville's "D"? How many games we talking???
  12. Let's see, Maryville is weak at Kick off coverage? Of the number of kick-offs Maryville has had to field this year, me thinks somewhere around 50 to 60 times, How many were returned for TD's. The answer is ZERO! Yea that is a real weakness. As for #44 or #1 this week. If you have ever watched/scouted Maryville and are a student of the sport you'll find out Coach Q will give up field position over putting the skin into the hands of a return man who can hurt you. We got some coaching around here. I think Maryville Haters are going to have to do better than that! Go Rebs!!
  13. Gp will win this one I think. The ground game will put the hurt on FHS this time around. GPHS 42 FHS 28. Me thinks! Good luck
  14. Maryville must beat a good Cleveland team to have the high honor of ending The Greenville or Morr west's season(Again). Both good teams but do not match up to well with Maryville. No one has passed well on Maryville and the great running backs they have played against the past two years have not been effective enough. I think Morr West will get the Green monky off of thier backs this year because of confidence, homefield, the run game and pass D. Weather will not be a big factor. Good luck to both teams.
  15. I really does not matter about the "What if's" are Maryville will give anyone in the state a game. They will only get beat this year if they beat themselves. I did not think Maryville would be this good this year, let's face it two State Championships in a row is big without a let down. Private school's could have an edge if athletics was the only thing and grades did not matter. But at most private schools grades do matter. The game is in Cleveland and to quote one of Clevelands players: "Now we want Maryville," Westfield said. Get ready cause you got them and be ready to turn in your gear Monday. Maryville will roll, count on it!
  16. Cleveland has a good team for sure and it will be a game. if Cleveland go's down 14 points before the half it is over. Maryville is for sure the most physical team in 4A and is two deep every position. It also does not matter which Off player gets the ball everyone of those guys can make plays. The D of Maryville is the most un-talked about force on the team. The do not allow the big paly often and only at one conner this year. The D line and LB's will be ready for any back in the state. Good luck to Cleveland but Maryville is not central who only scored because of turnovers. Case in point Cent get the ball on turnovers five times but could still not beat the rebs. The kids will be ready to play and the weather is fooing to be great. See you there. MHS 38 CHS 17.

  18. Maryville will be ready for a great game
  19. Maryville rolled by committee as normal. Many kids contrubuting to the same result, total dominance of another good team. Powell played well and did not turn the ball over. See you next year Powell and Central. Great team effort Maryville, coaches and players. On to Cleveland!! Go Reb's
  20. Final Maryville 40 Powell 11 Cleveland over Knox Central Greenville over TN High Morr West over Elizabethton
  21. Anyteam that makes it to the boro and wins deserves respect. AE is a great program and bring much pride to the Knoxville Area, the area of State Champions. If your program has never been there, you have nothing to say. Many teams and Kids only dream of playing in a SCG. AE we look forward to next year for you. Go Rebs
  22. I agree with Phil, you guys who just want trouble should go back to you video games and leave this board to those of us who love the High School game of football. We Ex-Players who are now dad's know those kids on the field are kids. Good luck to the Cent Cats and Cleveland may the best team win. Then next week look for the two chartered buses followed by a rental truck with equipment in it and a bunch of real big fast classy guys getting off of the buses. That would be the Men In Black! Go Rebs
  23. BG You "Promise central will not come out scared this time". You have got to beat Cleveland and I don't think you will. That is a tough place to play and they have a good team. Ofcourse I hope you do beat Cleveland because they will give Maryville a tough game. Maryville will not give you the ball this time around, you can count on that therefore you won't score much. I can promise Maryville is never scared and will score on anyone in the state. But on to Powell first. Go Rebs
  24. Maryville has always been able to get up for the BIG Games! All play-off games are big games. These Kids have been there and done that. If my notes are correct this Senior Class has played I think 54 games to this point with 14 of those being State Champ Games or playoffs. The Reb Seniors have only lost once in the playoffs during this time. That is experience, leadership, deciation and hard work. Combined with great coaching without verbal abuse and first class booster/parent support. This is a great school and a class football program. I am proud of the program. I expect the kids to take care of Powell and be ready for the next step but make no mistake, The Red Rebels are not looking past or down on anyone because class don't do that! Go Rebs MHS 34 PHS 14
