  1. Hard to believe a 9-0 team visits a 8-1 team with the district championship on the lineand gets that officiating crew. Disgraceful! Missed (or ignored) several face mask tackles, overruled an interception, called a fumble after the runner bounced twice in the ground, and I could go on. Did not affect the outcome, but both teams deserved better officiating in such an important game. Crockett looked like they might blow the game open at halftime, but Westview battled very hard in the second half. They gave a great effort but were just overmatched this time around.
  2. Should be a great battle. I think Milan wins in a close one, but won't be stunned if the tide pull the upset.
  3. Crockett County has a definite advantage in the trenches and has the edge in team speed, JCS has an advantage in the passing game. My lifetime says controlling the line of scrimmage and speed are the definite pluses. I will take Crockett in this on, 24-14.
  4. I don't think JCS is physical enough up front to stop Crockett's ground game. JCS real be ready tothrow the ball around, but I suspect Crockett is athletic enough to counter. I pick the Cavs 38-14.
  5. Per the scoreboard- Crockett 41, Bolivar 0. Nice start to the season.
  6. Mosier is out for this week at least with a high ankle sprain. Still, this shoul dbe a great game.
  7. How did Crockett County vs Lexington go?
  8. My family and I moved to Henry County this summer. Got a call from Coach Gaddis inquiring about if my son was interested in playing football this year. Came away from the phone conversation with very good vibes- seemed to be very personable and sincere gentleman.
  9. There will be a feed on www.wcta810.com. It's a Crockett County feed but at least you can hear the game
  10. Thanks for the kind words. THe Trojans have a tough team, but I just can't stop thinking how that game was there for the taking by the Cavaliers. The dropped touchdown pass was a killer. If the catch is made, momentum definitely swings the other way. It was a great effort by Crockett County, especially on defense. The Cavaliers did what no one thought possible- slow the Trojan offense. The game was much closer than the final score indicates- ther late touchdown by the Trojans makes the spread more than the difference between the two teams. Good luck the rest of the way- hope both squads stay injury free the rest of the way. Goodness knows we've had more than our share of injuries this year.
  11. He was at the game Friday night. I haven't spoke to him, but it is my understanding that he still has a long road to full recovery.
  12. No correlation at all. Crockett County has had some junior high and freshmen teams with terrible records, but 10 straight years in the playoffs speaks for itself. A lot of it, IMHO, is philosophy. I know that Crockett County has always rotated a lot of players in and out, not necessarily playing the 12-14 best players and always going for the win. Often times, 5 or 6 running backs may touch the ball every game as 8th graders, but all but 2 or 3 of the best have dropped out of football by the time they reach high school. At the same time, these kids are learning the high school system and the high school way of doing things, so by the time they reach the high school level they already have a feel of what is expected from them.
  13. Thought about this one at a Babe Ruth game the other night when a 13-year old that was about 4'6 and 65 lbs batted. Would have said it out loud, but was afraid someone would take it the wrong way and be offended. I did laugh for a while after thinking it, though.
  14. Whoaaa there....just answering a question, not trying to get anything started.....sounds pretty innocent anyway.
  15. I'd say that I would need more info to comment... Were the two friends on different teams? Played against each other for years? Done in fun? Or did they have a history of bad blood? Were tempers already flaring in the game/ Was the dirt directed at the 1B's feet or face? I can see this going either was, but their are a bunch of variables to consider.
  16. Is that a good thing or bad? I kind of know the Greenfield area, and it's a tough situation to start with. It also seem to fall victim to small time politics at times. Will Coach Rodehaver make an impact?
  17. Actually, weather doesn't affect all teams the same. Wind and rain hurt teams that pss the ball more than it hurts run-only teams. Facts are fatcs. That being said, if COvington wins tonight, it will not be because of the weather. It will be because they played better. Part of being a superior team is being multi-dimensional. That is why Crockett will win tonight, albeit by a much slimmer margin than the first time around.
  18. So which team that you root for played tough opponents and got knocked down in the seedings? Actually, you make some good points, but short of making the playoffs, seeding doesn't always determine chamiponships. Home field advantage is nice, but the cream usually rises to the top come playoff time anyway. I don't know that a chenge in the system would affect #4 though. Coaches will always find a way to expose the weaknesses in any playoff system procedures.
  19. LOL...that's a great line. I'll be rooting for my Cavs, and this should be a great game. I pick the Cavaliers to win, 20-14.
  20. A clean sweep by Region 7-3A sets up a pair of interesting matchups next week. Haywood @ Dyersburg- Haywood is hot at the right time, Dyesrburg QB appearantly is banged up....I think Dyersburg should win this one, but wouldn't be shocked if the Tomcats pull the shocker! Covington @ Crockett County- Covington will have revenge on their mind and have historically owned the Cavaliers. Crockett County is missing Jarvis Perry, but still has a ton of talent. I think the Cavaliers take a close one, but again wold not be shocked if the Chargers pulled this one off. All in all, two very intriguing games with several subplots. Best of all- I will actually be at home fo rthe game this week!
  21. Hyperbole at its greatest.... Actually, Sonny is a dynamite hitter. If he was bigger, he'd have Division 1 scouts drooling. He has an excellent feel for the game and is a great leader.
  22. Perry being injured has nothing to do with Dyersburg vs Mitchell, or did I miss something?
  23. Game was played in a constant rain, and Haywood is a bit better than some people may believe. They have fine athletes, and the discipline seems to have come into place. Crockett made litte effort to stretch the field and played conservatively all night long. Perry had 94 yards rushing before going down with injury early in second quarter. And Crockett is not 21 points better than AE, Fulton, or Catholoc.
