From my reading of his post he is not talking about a screener he is talking about a lob pass to player. The rule is different for a player with the ball as to someone who doesn't have the ball. The case he listed doesn't go by the screening rule because he had the ball then it is guarding. This is the part of the rule dealing with guarding from your post above.
When A1 has control of the ball (provided that the offensive
post player A1 is not in the air at the time), the play shall become a guarding situation.
When it is a guarding situation involving the player with the ball, time and distance
shall be irrelevant.
You have quoted the screening rule which is correct if you set a screen outside the visual field of someone you have to give them one step to stop or change direction on a stationary opponent.
You are not correct on the rule. What you may thinking about is if a player is in the air then he must be allowed to come down without contact. The play you are talking about here there is no time and distance on a player with the ball. So if the player receives the ball comes down and then runs over a player then player control is the right call. He is not required to give the player a step.
I hear they backed out of a verbal agreement to play Baylor to schedule this game because they wanted 2 home games instead of traveling the 5 or 6 miles down to play at Baylor. Too bad it would have been a nice game to see for the next 2 years in Chattanooga.
All I know is the large division. It is as follows:
West- CBHS, MUS, ECS, St. Benedict and Briarcrest
MidEast- McCallie, Baylor, Webb, Brentwood Acad, MBA, Father Ryan, Ensworth, PJP, BGA.
So I guess everyone else is in the small division.
Yes, the TSSAA didn't like that one and now they have 9 teams in the Mid/East and 5 teams in the West. The Mid/East is divided into 3 pods and each team plays the other 2 schools in their pod and 2 schools out of the other 2 pods for a total of six.
There will be 6 region games for the Mid/East and 4 games for the West. 5 teams out of the Mid/East will be in the playoffs and 3 out of the West. Don't know how they will matchup in the playoff but I think it is 5 vs 1 in the Mid/East then cross play the rest.
Rule 6 article 4 states " the direction of the possession arrow is reversed immediatley after an alternating-possession throw-in ends. An alternating-possession throw-in ends when the throw-in ends or when the throw-in team violates."
Now the next question is when does a throw-in end.
Rule 4 Section 42 Article 5 The throw-in ends when the passed ball touches, or is touched by, an inbounds player other that the thrower.
Hope that helps.
Let's try to make some sense here. Are you saying the coach's all state team is wrong and the this vote by sportswriters is correct? If so then I totally disagree. I think the coaches in the league know who the best players are not a group of writers who don't know any of the players who are not in the towns where they write their papers. Also the coaches was just for DII AAA and no one else so don't be mad that no Pope players were on the team.
The Father Ryan and Briarcrest coaches were not at the meeting that took place after the Mr Football awards when the team was picked. So you can't expect to have any guys on the team if you don't show up to push for your players.
