  2. 14....you might be thinking of Savannah Hill. She graduated and is playing college ball somewhere. Unless I'm mistaken, Steelman is the only returning starter from last year, but I'm sure some Lincoln County folks can clear that up.
  3. Tullahoma led most of the first half thanks to an 18-2 run to take a 20-10 lead. Lincoln County had two big runs that proved to be the difference in the game. The first was a 10-point run late in the third period to take a 35-32 lead early in the fourth. Tullahoma fought back and led 38-37 with 5:25 to go when the Lady Falcons reallly turned up the defensive pressure and made a 13-point run that settled it. Candace Gordon (19 points) and Tricia Steelman (17) were outstanding for Lincoln County and their most underrated player, T"Essence Phelps, scored all six of her points during the deciding 13-point run. Tullahoma played well in the first half and OK in the third quarter but couldn't answer when Lincoln County made its fourth-quarter run. Lots of turnovers down the stretch. Still, they're very young (almost always 3 or 4 sophomores on the floor together) and that's just one of the many lessons a young team has to learn....how to respond late in the game when your legs are going and the other team makes a run. For the most part, the effort has been outstanding this season. Congratulations Lincoln County on the win. They have several young players also.
  4. I'm going to see Tullahoma and Cannon County play tonight in Woodbury. Does anyone know anything about Cannon County and the style they play? I read an article recently that they shot more than 600 threes last year and hit more than 300. If they played 30 games, that's more than 20 threes per game and if they shot around 50 percent, that's pretty deadly. Do they still play that style or is the personnel a lot different this year? Who are the best players and their main strengths? I just like to know as much as I can about a team before watching them play.
  5. I really enjoyed watching Forrest play. They are as advertised. Not only do they have outstanding talent but I like their attitude on the floor. They just work hard and keep their mouths shut, which is how it should be. Actually, I think their ability to substitute frequently is a big advantage over many teams. The players they bring in are good players. The two teams I've enjoyed watching most this season and pre-season (other than Tullahoma) are Sequatchie County and Forrest. I know it can't happen this season, but I'd love to see those two play each other. That would be some entertaining basketball.
  6. Collinwood beat Tullahoma 56-43. Andrews was in and out of the lineup hobbled by a heel injury. Tullahoma was up 36-30 with 11 minutes left when Andrews came in and just took the game over. She did it more with ball movement and passing than scoring although she seemed to score any time she wanted to. It was my first time seeing her, and even though she didn't play the whole game and was limping, I was very impressed. Her skills are obvious, but it was her court awareness and basketball instincts that truly set her apart. Collinwood is pretty good when she's not on the floor, but they are extemely good when she's out there.
  7. Hey, Indian, just a heads up if you're interested. Sequatchie, Walker Valley and Tullahoma are going to have a three-way scrimmage Thursday at Sequatchie. As of now, the schedule will be: 3:30 Sequatchie-Walker Valley 4:30 Walker Valley-Tullahoma 5:30 Tullahoma-Sequatchie
  8. Can someone tell me how to get to the old Townsend School? If you start me on the main strip where the old high school was, I think I can follow directions from there.
  9. Fess up Jim and tell everyone who took the first pic in this thread... It's better than the hundred I took and all of yours combined....oh well, back to the drawing board....lol

That was the best group of freshmen I ever saw come into a program at one time. It would have been a great class even without Waters and Fairbanks, but they took it over the top. I remember seeing Soddy at the Border Battle in Lincoln County when those girls were freshmen, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that something like 13 of the 15 players on the team were freshmen, and they were already scary good.
  11. Don't know who pitched for Farragut. Rob Curlee went the distance for Tullahoma. Farragut now must beat Houston twice to make it to the championship round, but if anybody knows how to fight the odds, it's Farragut. Congratulations on a big win to stay alive today.
  12. 2-0 Farragut after 5 innings
  13. Farragut batting in top of fifth, still leading 1-0.
  14. Farragut leads 1-0 in top of third. Rob Curlee pitching for Tullahoma.
  15. a friend just told me Soddy-Beech was 1-1 in the 11th. I probably won't get the final so maybe someone else can post it.
  16. Tullahoma now down 6-2 in top of sixth and Houston has runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. Mitchell Routh now pitching for Tullahoma. Houston has 10 hits.
  17. Morris is pitching. Houston had three or four hits in the first three innings and Tullahoma apparently had a couple of blunders. Morris usually gets stronger as it goes along. Hope that's the case today. (From the look of the last update, that's not the case though I don't know yet how the runs scored)
  18. Houston 3 Tullahoma 0 (Tullahoma batting in bottom of third. Tullahoma has no hits so far)
  19. Great job coach. What was the final score? Also, where did Elrod wind up signing. She has had a pretty spectacular year.
  20. Very tough loss for the Lady Raiders, but they'll bounce back. They always do. I don't know a thing about Oakland, but if they can go into Coffee County and win an elimination game, they have to be a pretty good ball team. I look forward to seeing the Lady Raiders in the summer. I know they will have several new faces in the lineup as will Tullahoma and Lincoln County. I think they all lose four or five seniors.
  21. Very well said, Jeff, and very true. You and Troy have had some of my favorite sports battles over the years. I'm pretty sure Troy still has some of those "Raider Hater-Lion Tamer" t-shirts stored somewhere. They were classics, and it took some nerve to show up wearing them at your place. And, I wouldn't be surprised if they're not still picking Falcon feathers out of the infield dirt at Coffee County after they got sprinkled around after a big Lady Raider win over Lincoln County one night. It was all done in good fun with a healthy dose of competitive pride thrown in to make it interesting. Man, do I miss those days. I wish there was a way for both Riverdale and Lincoln County to make it to state this year, but it turned out there wasn't. I'm pulling for you guys all the way.
  22. Anyone know where Tarrah Tucker is going to school? I saw her pitch last summer in a tournament and was impressed. She appears to be peaking at the right time with the two good games against Brentwood, which is one of the best hitting teams I've seen this year. Good luck to both teams. I think the region semi-finals are the most exciting games of the year.
  23. What awful news. I think in many ways Lopey is the personality of that team, and I'm sure the girls are devastated for her. God bless her and her family.
