  1. Scoreboard is showing 45-24 North Side. If that's right, the margin of victory is pretty big surprise.
  2. Wow, I can't believe the Ware beat NS. Interested in hearing how that all went down.
  3. I can sum up MPHSwhatever's thoughts in one word: "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Stop speculating and get some proof about all this recruiting. You sound like John L. Smith and others accusing Ron Zook of cheating. Like Colin Cowherd said about it: "That's bush league." People try to have discussions with you, yet you start acting like a jerk (like BigHurt correctly pointed out), then use the time-tested Pee Wee Herman "I knw you are but what am I" defense. You throw the same tired "facts" out over and over. In most cases, it's just opinions posing as facts. So a private school won 6 of the last 7 1A football titles. 5 of the last 7 2A titles have been won by a public. 7 of the last 7 3A football titles have been won by a public. What's your point? Don't worry, though. Eventually, all the privates will end up in 2A, and then you can go find a whole new set of excuses when your school gets beat.
  4. I'd give BTW the best chance. Like backinthaoc said, no one from Middle or East will give them a challenge.
  5. No way Oak Hill blows out Liberty. Beat them? Probably. Kill them? I don't see it. Liberty lost by 5 to the No. 2 team in the nation (Mater Dei); what makes you think they can't play with Oak Hill?
  6. I got to see the first half of the boys game, and I was very impressed with the intensity that the Rebs showed. Don't know how it was early in the season, but there doesn't appear to be much quit in these guys now. The atmosphere of the game in general was just fantastic, and that gym...wow. Last night in Troy is what HS basketball is all about. I had a great time there.
  7. Casey Prather from Jackson North Side is averaging near a double-double for the Indians. He's going to be the real deal. So is LaCorwyn Anthonty from BTW. In three more years, he's likely to be the biggest thing coming out of Memphis.
  8. Here's hoping that, if both Liberty and BTW do get to the Boro like they should, they end up on opposite sides of the bracket. It would be a disservice for them to meet in the first round.
  9. Boys basketball in this state is pretty much the opposite of football. Everyone from West thinks certain teams have a chance to go all the way, but when they face off against teams from Middle, they find out those teams are usually just flat-out better. In basketball, we see several people in this thread pointing at other schools, but when tournament time rolls around, a team from the West is going to win it in AA (and quite possibly in every class). Only once since 1996 has a team from another region won the gold ball in AA, and with Liberty and BTW leading the way, that isn't going to change this year.
  10. This might be the most idiotic statement I have ever read on CoachT. And that's saying a lot.
  11. I've been in the coaches' offices and the indoor facility. It's fantastic. Any coach would be lucky to have a place like that.
  12. I find two things in the private/public debate to be rather funny. First, you never hear anyone accuse the less successful private schools of recruiting. I don't think I've ever seen any allegations of rules violations by Zion Christian. Second, you never hear any of the vocal anti-privates express concerns over the domination Alcoa and Maryville have had in 2A and 4A respectively. So privates dominate 1A football, that's a problem. Two publics dominate 2A and 4A, no problem.
  13. You have never SAID cheating, but you have implied it a few of your posts. This one, in particular, jumps out. If the players are receiving educational grant help and playing, that is cheating.
  14. Which Kroger was it? Wow. I'm overwhelmed by the positive feedback. Thanks so much. N2Choctaws...timeliness is always going to be a problem because a) we're monthly, and our delivery is usually 7-10 days after our deadline. That's why we try to write stories that aren't time-sensitive.
  15. This is going to be a great one. Lots of points will be scored. Wish I could go see it.
  16. I was really surprised that people in the other thread were picking FCS to blow JCS out. I expected a close game that could have gone either way. I guess it's a combination of people's not knowing much about JCS and the history Middle TN teams have of doing just that in the finals. VolGen...it's easy to say what you would have done if you were the coach. But there was a lot going on at the moment on the sidelines. Johnson picked up a HUGE first down on 3rd-and-12 that sealed the game. I imagine the realization that they were about to win the game and the onrush of emotion that goes along with it was the only thing on their minds. I don't think you need to be calling out Coach Stewart over this. It's really petty. Regarding the non-punt...I talked to one of the coaches after the game and he told me that they didn't have a backup punter (and took blame for not having one ready if Clay got hurt). At least they didn't think they did. Turns out Hudson can boot it. Hats (or helmets) off to these kids and this coaching staff. I know four of the coaches, two of them pretty well, and they're as class as it gets.
  17. I never thought 41 pages of a thread could be so much of nothing.
  18. Who knows? The way the TSSAA is going to bracket 2A makes it hard to say right now.
  19. Wow. What an ignorant statement. Way to represent your community well.
  20. Don't forget all these families have to pay a pretty significant tuition to attend.
  21. I heard some questions raised (not here) about whether or not Coach Smith should have entered the game with a different gameplan (throwing the ball early, giving other guys more carries, etc.). Hindsight is always 20-20, but honestly, I think he did the right thing by sticking with Dailey. As Roy McAvoy opines in Tin Cup, "Ya ride her 'til she bucks ya, or ya don't ride her at all." They've obviously done an outstanding job with that program, and deserve a lot of praise for what they accomplished this season. JCS is just better, and I'm not sure any amount of "better" coaching would have changed the outcome one bit.
  22. I'd say McKenzie and Lake County both were teams, not one-man shows.
  23. I got to see two JCS games this year...Week 1 vs. USJ and last night. Fowler wasn't the same player last night that he was against USJ. He's improved tenfold since that early game. Threw the ball with confidence, threw to his spots and let his receivers get to the ball. He can also run the ball very well, proven by his two 30+ yard TD runs.
