  1. But JCS's schedule in the second half of the season was weak, so it's really hard to use that as a measuring stick. It's one thing to run for 300 yards against Middleton; it's another to do it against UC, McKenzie, or Fayette. I think they do beat UC, but I don't see them getting past McKenzie, though they probably match up better with the Rebels than anyone else in 8-1A.

  3. Agreed, nice job, machine. I do expect Fairview-Lewis Co. to be a lower scoring game but as far as winners and margins of victory I think you've got it down pretty good.
  4. Seeing things through 6-2A glasses, aren't we? Fairview's played a MUCH tougher schedule than has Lewis County, and you'd better believe that's going to be to their benefit. Enough to beat Lewis County? Maybe, maybe not. But this one is not going to be a blowout.
  5. At least a 2 TD margin at the end of the first quarter, maybe. No one in 3A has touched them yet, and it's not going to start this week. Can't wait to see how they match up with Giles County and Lipscomb if their paths cross.
  6. Fairview's a pretty good team. I don't think they'll get blown out by any means.
  7. Looks like those "slow white boys" did alright after all, eh, jacket?
  8. Maybe a Crockett County person could verify, but I heard that Perry injured his knee pretty badly last night. If so, that changes things.
  9. Much as I hate to say it (because I'd love a closegame), I'm betting on a repeat of last year. FA usually seems to hit a stride late in the season.
  10. But it looks like Adamsville still gets into the playoffs by virtue of White House-Heritage's upset win against Forrest tonight and Hardin County's win over JCM.
  11. JCS is a good program, no doubt, but they aren't the team they were last year. They played DCA tough, but this DCA team isn't the same as last season's. They could potentially miss the playoffs with a loss tonight in a 5-2A that's not as strong as it usually is. So that narrow loss isn't as impressive as it was last year when they lost by 1 on the road. JCS had been plagued by red-zone woes all season, and it's not a coincidence. They've got speed and athleticism, but not much size. The closer you get to the goal line, the tougher it is to score if you can't control the line. Against teams like McKenzie and FA, whose lines are significantly bigger, they'll keep having problems in the red-zone. They don't have the size to line up in the power-I and ram it down your throat this year. TCA's schedule hasn't been nearly as strong as JCS's, but it's not horrible either. USJ has played a lot of those 7-2A schools tough, Bruceton could be the #2 team in 8-1A, and Wayne Co. is always a playoff team in 5-1A. They're not playing Chopper Liver High. I don't think they're as good as JCS, though, and that was proven in Week 2. Also keep in mind FA played JCS without their starting QB, who is supposed to return soon if he hasn't already. They're very well-coached and they ALWAYS show up in the post-season. They gave Union City a much tougher game than JCS did last year if you'll remember. McKenzie has by FAR the best chance to get out of the Region 7 vs. 8 bracket. Tell me this, how do you stop them offensively? Despite all their points last year, they did have trouble scoring against good teams. Not this year, aside from the Peabody game when they only ran 12 times. They've got a near-2000 yard passer and a 1000 rusher, and they've owned their opponents in the 2nd half. In games against Dresden, Huntingdon, Bruceton, Union City, and Lake County, they outscored them 103-22 in the last two quarters. 103-22. There's a reason for that. I can point out weaknesses on JCS. I'm hard-pressed to do the same for McKenzie. Taking nothing away from the Eagles, but they lost a lot of key players from last year's team.
  12. And you need to make sure you carefully read the posts you quote and bash. crockett56 said the 2nd could not beat Haywood.
  13. Actually, camdenlionpride, you got your underwear in a wad for no good reason. Gerry said, in a nutshell, "This is how Richland can make the playoffs." Uh, duh, he's going to have to make some assumptions in the favor of Richland to demonstrate that. Camden has a lot of classy people posting on here, like Lions4ever, that make the team and the community look good. You should learn from them.
  14. Be careful, Gerry. Don't want to show too much Richland bias.
  15. Very classy post, ucdiditagain. Nice to see people with attitudes like yours.
  16. Not necessarily. Third place would be determined first using highest number of wins. It then resets and the head-to-head winner of the remaining two teams gets the last spot. So Liberty could have a chance to get in should they beat Bolivar. Realistically, Bolivar/Liberty in Week 10 is the play-in game. F-W will not lose to Chester County, making them no worse than 3-3 in region and 6-4 overall. Bolivar will likely not beat South Side, leaving them at 3-2 in region and 5-4 overall heading into the last game. If Liberty beats them, that means they're tied at 3-3. Bolivar would be 5-5 overall, Liberty either 3-7 or 4-6, and F-W 6-4. F-W gets the first tiebreak by having 6 wins. Liberty gets the tiebreak on Bolivar for the last spot, having beaten them head-to-head. If Bolivar beats Liberty, then they'd be 3rd and F-W 4th.
  17. Dropping my faves from each side of the bracket to get to the Boro. 1A: Friendship Christian/McKenzie 2A: Alcoa/Milan or Goodpasture 3A: Knoxville Catholic/Crockett Co. or Lipscomb 4A: Maryville/It Doesn't Matter 5A: No clue
  18. In the interest of fairness, in the 2004 regular season Huntingdon beat: Bruceton (5-6) Adamsville (6-5 with 3 of their wins coming over Greenfield, Middleton, and Perry Co.) Chester Co. (4-6) Union City (3-7) Riverside (2-8) You can pull just about anyone's schedule and point to some wins over weak teams.
  19. In 7-1A, McKenzie should be your region champs barring a collosal meltdown. The final three spots are being fought over by Lake County, Union City, Bruceton, and West Carroll, with WC probably being the odd team out. The outcome of the Lake County-Bruceton game in Week 10 will determine who goes where. If Lake County wins, you're looking at a potential 3-way tie for 2nd place at 5-2 and if I remember the tiebreak system right, that'd put LC 2nd in the region as they have the highest number of wins. If Bruceton wins, they're 2nd, UC 3rd, and LC 4th. In 8-1A, Fayette, JCS, and TCA are in, and Manassas probably grabs the last spot. Best I can tell, it comes down to the TCA-FA game in Week 10. If Fayette wins, they're champs followed by JCS and TCA. If TCA wins, then they're champs followed by FA and JCS. Playoff scenarios might be slightly off...doing this very quickly.
  20. Forrest had 195 and 3 TD on 23 carries...an average of 8.5 a tote. I was there for the 1st half, and Liberty did a good job containing him on occasion. Key words being "on occasion."
  21. Multiplier isn't increasing, but the schools' enrollments are enough to cause them to move up another class. I would not be at all surprised to see most or all privates go DII or just split from the TSSAA altogether in the near future.
  22. I heard 28-25 Humboldt with about 4 minutes to play. Don't know if that is accurate.
