Film? I'd be surprised if 90% of the voters have even seen one highlight from any of these kids to be honest. As for stats, for some reason South Pittsburg has never posted then anywhere, no matter who the coach was. But yes, even though stats do not always tell you the story, they do help voters who have never seen them play.
I think the biggest reason that you see players from certain teams always on the ballot is due to tradition and history. When SP is doing well, they will almost always have someone on the list. If Greenback or Lake County are doing well, you will see them with players on the list as well due to their history in A/1A.
Just a little rambling on my part here that has nothing to do with the quoted post, but is just in reference to people who think South Pittsburg has been overrepresented in Mr. Football. This will be the 40th year that they are giving away this trophy. 23 of those years they gave away two, one for a lineman and one for a back. So, for each classification, there have been 63 trophies awarded in 40 years. For a breakdown, during this same period of time, South Pittsburg has been to the state championship 12 times, winning 6 of them. 6 is also the number of Mr. Football winners they have had out of the 63 trophies given out. So, they have been to 30% of the championship games, won 15% and had UNDER 10% of the Mr. Football winners. Looking at that, it doesn't appear to me that South Pittsburg is overrepresented in the Mr football awards.
