  1. I was on Central's sidelines last night and had a pretty darn good look at some of the plays that the officials missed: 1) I definitely agree about Da Da being down on that "fumble". He was already down. 2) I don't know about Cruze and the TD....couldn't tell from my angle 3) One play, right in front of me, AJ was being held. What makes it obvious is that his jersey was being pulled away (duh!) and AJ was fighting to get free.....but the official standing right there called a facemask penalty on AJ instead. Ridiculous!!! 4) On the first intentional grounding call, it took the back judge a few moments to decide if it was grounding or not. Not a receiver in sight, so the call looked pretty obvious to me. Once the ref finally found his little yellow hanky, the penalty was offset by a defensive holding call on CHS. 5) On the second intentional grounding call, Rhea County's QB threw a desperation pass to a lineman. The lineman threw his hands up to attempt to catch the ball. But the ref's waved the flag off. Why......are lineman now eligible receivers? 6) What about that long pass that Rhea County's QB threw for a TD. Looked to me like he was at least 3-5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. No flag was thrown there. Bigin52, I rarely get on here and run my mouth, but you need to get some of your facts straight before making yourself look like a sore loser. There was a lot of holding going on last night and that's why you guys were able to give your QB time to throw the ball. I can guarantee you that on a level playing field without horrible officiating, the Cats D would have made your QB's life miserable last night. If it wasn't for the poor officiating, the game wouldn't have been as close as it was. And FYI, those so called REFS last night were from Morristown.......not exactly "In our area" as you state.
  2. About this game....take it from somebody that lived in that town for a year, hated it so much and MOVED BACK to Knoxville. I'm originally from Western Ky and loved growing up in that part of the US. I left for college and came back. I will not go into the reasons why I left for a second time, but I will say that THUG LIFE is not for me. That town is located close to Clarksville / Ft. Campbell where a lot of military families live. There are several high schools around, and all of those kids get dispersed equallly. But the thing about that area is that a lot of these kids come and go on a yearly, sometimes monthly basis. You can't build a team around that....especially when you don't know what's coming in or leaving!!!! Hoptown is a good team and the Tigers went all the way to the quarter finals last year. But it will be interesting to see what they do WITHOUT Pulley and they also have new head coach. A lot of intangibles there, but I see this as a rebuilding year. They say that the cream rises to the top.....we'll just have to wait and see. Alcoa is just way much more disciplined than the Tigers ever hope to be and I predict the Tornadoes in a landslide. Alcoa has Lindsey and Warren (amongst MANY others) and a butt-load of talent more than Hop- town would ever dream of!!!! Also, coming off a 15-0 season, and a 99.9% chance of repeating....it's a no brainer who my money is on!!!! On a personal note, I hope Alcoa beats the living dog snot out of Hop-town, and I think they will. I hope you boys show them why we take our football a little bit more seriously in TN than they do. Regardless, parents and fans - get there early because there is nowhere to park......ANYWHERE!!!!! Also, make sure that you stop at Ferrel's and get a couple of hamburgers on the way in or out. Once you get off the four lane, it's about 1/4 mile down on the right. It's a hole in the wall place with a green neon sign. You won't regret it.......I honestly think it's better than Litton's!!! Here's some tips and another set of directions....... Exit #65 as stated in previous posts. Turn left at the end of the exit. Take the 4-lane until it merges into 2 lanes. I think there is a Chevron or Exxon station on the right (just before the 4 lane ends). There is also a bank there with a sign that flashes time and temperature. You want to turn RIGHT there. (If you go past a golf course on your left, you've gone to far). Go past Ferrel's (burger joint) and the high school is a couple miles down on your right......just past the hospital. Your best, and cheapest option of getting gas is stopping in Oak Grove....just past the TN / KY line. There are two exits...#89 and #86 (I think those are the correct exit #'s). Once you pass those exits, the next available gas station is at #65, and it is usually 10 to 20 cents higher. One more thing, once you guys get off and exit # 65, GO THE SPEED LIMIT!!!! It's posted at 55mph, but the cops patrol that road quite heavily at times. Good luck Tornadoes and I wish you guys the best of luck. To all the fans and parents traveling to the area that I was raised........hope you enjoy it and just remember that I came BACK to Knoxville for a reason!!!!! GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!
  3. 2nd round playoffs - 2001 - Anderson County scores 22 points in the last 4 minutes of the game to tie Fulton, then goes on to win in overtime. Fulton even had a stud RB that rushed for 304 yards that game.
  4. Speaking of Garner.....you can't forget his nephew Shay Horseman from Anderson Co. Great HS pitcher and now pitches with MTSU. He has also played the past two summers with the Waterloo Bucks from Iowa. I don't know all the specifics or stats, but I think it is a developmental league
  5. Thanks for the news. As a TTU Alum and former member of the sportsmedicine staff, it really puts things into perspective. There are more important things in life than a football game. Here's a link to the TTU Sports Information Dept. about his latest status: http://www.tntech.edu/athletics/football/F...20Statement.htm
  6. Medman....we're working on that "cramping curse". We tried some new things this week and we actually did have some good results with a few players. Unfortunately, playing this time of year and in the humidity - we can't prevent all cramps.....but we're trying.
  7. Good points, but IMO it was the first game of the season with a new offensive system. Give em time. If I'm wrong and WB is a total bust this year, then I'll be the first to admit that I'm wrong. I don't know all of the specifics about Meadows leaving Alcoa and Jeff Co., so I'm not going to comment on something I'm not familar with. I definitely agree with the poor game management. The WB coaching staff could have done a much better job. Re-read some of my previous posts in this thread.....it's not hard to figure out who I am.
  8. Now listen.....I don't think anybody should be ripping Meadows at all. These kids at WB have gone through several coaches the past few years and have had to learn new systems everytime....no wonder they look kinda confused at times. Give them some time to learn the system and I think they will be a pretty good football team.
  9. Medman No apologies needed. I just got tired of people linking your user name to my job with the team. The thing that concerned me the most was the amount of injury information that you are / were posting. I've already identified who I am and what I do. It's extremely important that these kids trust me with their information and trust that I will make the proper decisions in helping them heal from their injuries. If they, their parent's or the coaches even think that I am sharing information regarding their injuries over Coach T......then that damages their trust in me and puts me in a compromised position......for something I didn't say. Like I said, no apolgies needed. You seem very knowledgable about the Central program and I enjoy reading your posts.......just limit the amount of info regarding the kids injuries. thumb
  10. Medman......I give up!!! Who are you???? It's pretty much no secret who I am anymore.....because I've had to tell almost EVERYBODY my user name because they think I am you!!!!! "Med-Man"...Medicine man...get it??? I swear, sometimes I think you know more about the kids injuries than I do....and I deal with their injuries EVERYDAY!!! I may already know you and love you, and I promise I won't reveal your identity, but jeez, you gotta come clean to me!!! I'm tired of defending the things that you say!!! One last thing.....to all of the people that think "Medman" is another identity that I go by.....wrong!!!! It is highly illegal and unethical for me, and any other user name that I may choose, to divulge any confidential information regarding injuries within any forum. I could lose my job if I posted the things that "Medman" did. Now that I have posted this, I'll probably meet 5 or 6 "Medman's" at Friday night's game!!!! But hopefully I'll get to keep my job thumb
  11. Congratulations Cowboy.......you are about to get blasted by EVERY Maryville fan.

    AC Mavs

shs01.....why did the Lady Mavs not play in the West Jamboree last weekend? I know that they have played there in the past. Just wondering. I agree with your assessment of Coach Woodfin. Good coach and good guy. Best of luck to the Lady Mavs.

    Leadership

  14. REBELRON....please?!?!?! We don't need a complete play-by-play recap. Carter was obviously overmatched in this game. mhs....thanks for breaking the info down.

    Prayers Needed

Please keep us informed.....doesn't sound good when they have to fly a copter to the field.
  16. volnative.....you bring up some good points, but I liked Gaston better than the Karns kid. Gaston's scramble and dive towards the corner of the end-zone was the highlight play of the night. Heck, it brought the biggest cheers of the night when replayed on the Jumbotron. Powell vs. Central? Yup, there should be a lot of hype for that one. However, there's a lot of ball to be played between now and then. You never know how the season will shake out. We'll talk more during week 10.
  17. Wow dude.......sounds like you are a doctor's best friend. Hang in there and hope the rehab goes (or went) well. By the way.....cool user name. I know several kids that could use it as well.
  18. Obviously, this is a middle TN post. Although I haven't had the opportunity to see some of the other receivers mentioned on this page, I have to go with Terrance Scott of Knox Central. He doesn't have the size as some of the others described on this page, but he is very scary once he gets the ball. Terrance is about 6'1, and I'm guessing about 165 lbs, but he has some Barry Sanders type moves and makes DB's look like fools trying to cover him. He also has several other things going for him. .....he has good grades, good attitude, and is a team player. I hope all of the other players mentioned on this page have a good year, but don't forget this receiver from East TN.

  20. They are supposed to scrimmage at Central on Thursday night, along with AE. Then the Admirals play Central in the Jamboree at Neyland on Friday night.
  21. Geez Guys.....They are FRESHMAN!!!!!!! Give them a chance to grow, develop and learn the system before you start ripping them. Remember Cassen Jackson??? I wasn't around when he was a freshman, but from what I understand is that he was just an average looking kid that played average football. Look what has became of him now!!!! PHS 5 - Lay off Clark.....he's a good kid. Kinda goofy at times, but he's still a good kid - and a freshman. Also, why don't you re-read J Kerr's post. He said "Could possibly see some action in varsity mop-up roles while still learning the offense"
  22. Bigcatt2 Central starts practice on Friday May 7th Scrimmage with AE on Friday May 14th (@ CHS I think) Intrasqaud scrimmage on Thursday May 20th
  23. A little comment on the Revolution helmets..... I ain't impressed with them. I hate them. That little extended ear-piece covering the jaw is supposed to protect against concussions. Well, we had to replace two helmets this year because those extended pieces were cracked. The players didn't know when they were cracked and couldn't recount how many practices and games they may have participated in before the defects were discovered. Talk about a potentially dangerous situation. Also, a good hit is a good hit and no helmet (not even the Revolution) will protect a player from a concussion. Also, if an emergency situation should arise and trainers / doctors / EMT's need to remove the facemask......the Revolutions are the most difficult to work with for numerous reasons. Riddell has been promising some kind of tool to help in facemask removal.....but that's been for about two years now and nothing has appeared on the market. A word of advice for the Jackson Co. coaches.......make sure you have a cordless screwdriver with you at all times if you need to remove the facemask. So far, this seems to be the best option. Also, talk to the trainers at Tech......I'm sure they can give you some tips.
  24. It's 50% for football....like HTV, I know that for a fact. Other sports - I don't know, but I bet it's probably the same. By the way - does anybody know what playoff tickets cost at the gate? I'm thinking around $7 to $10. Congrats to Powell for overcoming the distractions and beating Jeff Co. tonight!!! I'm just curious......Is the Murphy Center large enough to host the state tournament, or is the T$$AA going to have to move it to the Georgia Dome. After all, the dome did host the record NBA crowd with over 62,000 in attendance. Surely this place will be big enough to satisfy the T$$AA's requirements. But then again, who knows????
