  1. If I was his mom or dad, I think I'd be far more concerned with his well being and penchant for making terrible decisions, and trying to get him some help than I would be trying to petition the school board so he can play a freakin' basketball game.
  2. Volunteer was riding a hot streak from the middle of February. Ran out of steam finally. They came out of halftime ready to give it a go. Got it to within 5, but they ran out of horses. Fulton hit another gear, and it was over.
  3. Apparently it's not. If a girl can average 30 a game with 10+ rebounds to go with that with absolutely NO support, in arguably 3rd toughest district in the state, while being double and triple teamed every single night, not to mention playing sick and injured for half the season, and STILL get passed over, then IDK what in the heck you gotta do (individually) to win.
  4. Hampton this year, IMO, has more talent than the team last year that was 15 seconds away from beating ER and cruising to a state championship. They also have more egos to go around though, so I suppose we'll see.
  5. Gotta be tough to go 19-20 shooting FTs, only to miss two at the end that would have sealed it for Elizabethton. Going to 2nd OT
  6. McKenzie or VB one will walk away with the silver ball, but these are the best two teams down there, IMO.
  7. I apologize beforehand, but I don't understand the last sentence of your post. It's a blind draw, it doesn't "look" like ANYTHING. It's blind. It's completely random (aside from Region teams being placed on opposite sides.) That's kinda like saying the winning PowerBall drawing doesn't "look" like a winning ticket. That said, I'll echo others that it should be live streamed. No sense MAKING a coach/AD drive 10 hours round trip to pick a name out of a hat.
  8. A don't understand why everybody is getting their panties in a wad. While you might not like the results of a blind draw, a blind draw is completely FAIR, free from any biases or preconceived notions. A blind draw doesn't play favorites. A blind draw doesn't hype or show favoritism to it's local team. I'd put my faith in a blind draw over ANY organization or committee trying to seed the teams, most of which they've certainly never actually seen.
  9. Who cares if nobody wants to watch it? "Fan enjoyment" shouldn't be a consideration when it comes to rules/policy of interscholastic athletics.
  10. Defend the ball. Deny the pass. Trap. NFHS has the 5 second closely guarded rule. So literally the ONLY way a team can just stand there with the ball is if the defense allows them to. It's that simple. If team A can move without the ball, pass and run a motion offense better than team B can defend, why should team A be penalized for it?
  11. I'm not going to go watch the film, because I frankly don't a rat's fanny what they did. Either tell us what they did that that rubbed you the wrong way, or quit wasting space on here.
  12. The blowouts in the 1st round of regions have always been a thing though, especially in the east, and especially in 1A. On one hand the TSSAA doesn't need to have 3 and 4 team districts. But on the other hand, in 1A at least, there's only so much that can be done. Aside from the Roane/Morgan county area, 1A teams east of the Cumberland plateau are sparse. Between consolidation, and the decreasing RURAL population in eastern TN, there fewer and fewer 1A schools.
  13. Taking somewhat of a segway here. But when considering reasons for changing anything about rules/regulations/ect for SCHOLASTIC athletics, "fan enjoyment" should unequivocally, without question, be dead last on that list.
  14. That statement is the epitomy of entitlement. If a team played GOOD defense, they'd get the ball back. If team A can move the ball better than team B can defend the ball, why should team A be penalized for it?
  15. First off, you'll have to be a bit more specific. Second, what exactly is ridiculous?? Play defense. Heck in NFHS, you don't even HAVE to physically turn the offense over, we have a 5 second closely guarded rule that other levels of basketball do not. Play tight D. Deny a pass. Trap the ball. It's all fundamental really. If a team is able to make clean precise passes, can quicker to a spot than the defense, and is more disciplined than the other team, WHY should they be penalized for that?
  16. I don't understand all the static about a team "holding" the ball. The ONLY way they can possibly do that is if the defense allows them to.
  17. The only way a team can "hold" the ball is if the defense allows them to. It's that simple.
  18. Unaka has a puncher's chance against NG on a neutral floor. With a hypothetical 3 more games Ramsey could at least flirt with scoring 3,000. Would be awfully neat.
  19. Seems a though the consolation game was a dandy. It's a shame the Lady Rangers couldn't pull it out, but on the flip side, they're now in the opposite side of the bracket from having to go TO Cosby and then play Hampton in the Semis. Obviously Washburn will be the favorite, but not by too much. And if they win that, I think they have a punchers chance against NG on a neutral floor.
  20. I'm not sure where District 2 is having their tournament, but I believe Washburn is just as good as Cosby outside the Eagle's Nest. Cosby hasn't been playing their best ball the past few weeks, especially away from home.
  21. She's from the East and plays for a bad team. They'll find a way to make sure she doesn't get it.
  22. That baffles me. CD is a bad basketball team.
