  1. If you’re counting dead people, I’m sticking with the Possum. I thought we were talking about the current state of country music.
  2. Then. Try Tony Jackson’s cover of Possum’s “Grand Tour”.
  3. I think West’s defense IS better than last year and Defense wins championships
  4. Now do the same calculation but per participant rather than number of teams
  5. Thank you both for the thoughtful and civil discourse. It can be done.
  6. The only way to break the spell is to have a rider in black ride down Broadway east (NE) to west (SW) riding a white horse during the full moon:)
  7. Proud of you Harrison. Hard work pays, dreams come true!
  8. I don't know if TSSAA does it this way. Check their website. Add up all the games to get a total amount played. Then divide the number of games won by the total number played. For instance, if a team went 9-5-1, you'd add up 9+5+1 = 15. In order to add in the tied game, you break it into halves. Since a tie is neither a win nor a loss, you break each tie into 1/2 a win, 1/2 a loss. So, you'd add half a win to the total wins: 9.5 divided by 15 total games. The winning percentage of a 9-5-1 record would be .633 (or 63%).
  9. I agree with BtgoG that the wing T is probably not the right system for Halls, but not because they don't have "big powerful O-Line", on the contrary, the wing-t system allows smaller, not larger blockers to "angle block" larger defensemen simply because of physics. "To ask a 200lb lineman to block a 240lbs defender head on is more than likely asking him to do the impossible. But by blocking at an angle, you can cut his force by as much as two thirds. So, this allows a smaller lineman to push the defender wide, which is what we're looking for: width at the point of attack, not depth at the point of attack." Coach Marcelo Metzelar. The wing-t and its high-powered offspring hybrids have evolved along with the other "traditional" or ball control systems and can be as pass friendly, open & quick-striking as need be to fit the situation of the school running it. See Apopka, FL on ESPN Rise last week? No major giant linemen. Not much passing needed but still a 50-14 win & 3 rb over 100yds. Really really cool looking power sweep away from a jumbo look formation. Any system similar to the wing-T does however, require more than average dedication & preparation on part of the coaches & players that may not be possible for a variety of reasons at Halls. My point is not to sell anyone on the wing-t, but rather to point out it is not the wing-t system that is the root of problems at Halls. I don't know all of the problems Halls is having this year. Maybe its just a perfect storm of personel downturn (rash of injuries)along with an upturn of region opponents fortunes. Perhaps BtgoG is right, maybe they should pick another simpler system that better fits the Halls capabilities, teach it to the community park kids, practice it over & over & get very very good at it, and only then evolve it as needed. Good Luck Red Devils
  10. Matt, please don't letem get the fat-head & get above their "raizins".
  11. Mr. Stars could givem some of hizn ole union suits, (with real working rear flaps), & GQ's boyz will be in the hunt, as long as they aint too patched up.
  12. Yes, they do have WT clinics, lack of clinics is not the problem. A quick surf revealed the following links: http://www.tdfootball.com/clinic http://www.bucksweep.com http://www.wing-tcamp.com http://coachmetz.com/whywingt.aspx http://wing-tfootball.proboards.com/index.cgi
  13. From Halls, Great effort, great season MAVs You represented our district very well. Very proud of #22
  14. Congrats Mavs from your Halls pals. Great job. This was one of the most entertaining & fun to watch HS football games I have ever witnessed. Some observations: Clinton had an outstanding effort but did seem a bit overconfident. I would have liked to see #2 play again though, maybe at the next level, good luck WH. Great season Dragons, best in a long long time. AC came out out fighting hard, then it looked like they lost some mid-game MO when "smackin' each other around. Whatever works for you, but that stuff may cost you as you move on, unless you can refocus on the TEAM like you did last night. But that's very hard to do two weeks in a row. AC QB #9 Williams appeared to grow (football wise) last night. First half, it looked as though if he cocked his arm back to throw, it had to be thrown, "it was commin out" no matter if anyone was open or not, hense some of the picks. But in my opinion, one of his best plays all night was late in the game & he decided NOT to throw it on 2nd or 3rd down when he found no one open. This was special both due to the tight game situation (can't afford a pick here) & gained the metal toughness & confidence in the potential of the next play to be able to decide not to throw. Excellent: A+ Tanner. Great job. Former Halls guy #22 Blakley was a beast all night, (regardless of which team you were on ) Great catch. What outstanding effort, never seeming to come out of the game. Can't expect more physical effort out of a player but, Chad you simply gotta keep your wits about you at all times to help your team advance, no more USLC or delay penalties! This is do or die now, no next week if you lose now. The negative impact of every penalty is magnified now because you will only play other very good teams & good teams will make you pay for your mistakes (like GQ's Red Rebels do). Could not be more proud of you. #6: No plays off, you aint the old Randy Moss yet. This is about TEAM now & it looks like you need to step up your effort on EVERY play your in, to help your team & also to live up to your potential. This is not a cut at you, I just hate to see wasted potential. So what if they triple cover you, don't let that get you down. When they (opponents) do this, another teammate will be open for Tanner, that's still doing your job & college coaches look for this effort when the the play is not to you. Finish Strong! I simply loved how "other" maybe less known MAVs stepped it up last night. Thats what it takes, every snap. Fantastic HS football. Kudos to the AC coaches. Though I'm not a fan of the flip charts, I greatly respect coaches who can expand their mind to allow them to do whatever it takes to get that specific team, in that specific situation, to be successful. That stuff works for this particular herd of MAVs & thats all that matters. That's what great coaching is about. Good luck MAVS the rest of the way. HB76
  15. DL, this may be too simple-minded, but what would be the problem/s with simply using a rating system like Coach T's S+S power rankings & taking teams from the top down, e.g. in 5A the top 32 (or whatever # you (TSSAA) want) teams are in, regardless of whether they are the class champs in a district with only 2 5A teams. That way no teams with less than 3 or 4 wins would be in the playoffs. Or we could just tweak the current system to say that any team that is currently playoff eligible but wins less than 4 games is is not an automatic qualifier but is placed in the Wild Card Pool, regardless if they are the class champs of their district or not. Then use whatever wildcard rating system you want to fill out the no. of games TSSAA needs to see. But to me there is no way a 1-9 team should be in the playoffs over a 4 or 5 win team. That is simply not fair to the other kids. What do you think? HB76
  16. TP12, great post........I too am probably down to my last 2 weeks of something that I love dearly and has kept me short on cash & spare time for many years. Mr. Stars is correct, your post is indeed what HS football is all about. It is the essence of the difference between HS & college ball & why we love it so much. Best of luck to all of our Blount Co. friends. HB76 Knoxville Halls
  17. I think everyone appreciates you're lack of quoting me about the qualification that Gibson is most certainly an athlete. Conveniently overlooked! But let's look at a few facts ourselves. The stats you quote can be accurate or inaccurate. Fact! It has been common practice in this area for the home team to report both teams stats. Fact! No one really knows the stats because people have complained for years that their boys stats weren't right one way or another. Fact! Those stats may also be skewed quite drastically based on when the carries were in a game (i.e. mop up duty for or against a player) and they may be skewed based on just what this coaching staff is trying to do. Fact! Who knows what that is exactly? No one! They may also be skewed simply based on an opponent one way or another. Fact! Now for the superior athlete comment...with the numbers I've been hearing from some kids I'm close to...6 ran under a 4.5 this year while 3 ran over a 4.6. 4.6 is good, in fact really good for the school and area, but it's not under 4.5 the last time I checked. Also, the last time I looked on a field, that .1+ of a second equated to about 5 yards on the field. 5 yards goes a long way when trying to defend a pass or beat a defender. Note: that's based on sheer athletic ability not how either performs. Both have appeared to be burnt on the pass at times which happens to the best of kids. The teams best defenders of the pass most certainly have appeared to be 10 and 37 this year overall. I believe at one point I made a statement about how 6 should get 25 touches a game and everyone thought I was crazy. Well just how crazy is that really? You anticipate there being 3-4 kickoffs and 5-6 punts. So right there that's 8-10 touches you want to try and get the kid (because he has the playmaking ability to take it the distance on kick returns) thus leaving between 15-17 touches (on offense...out of what? 50-60 plays in theory...25%?). You would think, or I would think that 6-8 of the remaining touches would be in the passing game (the same amount for #10 and probably 3-5 for 37 in the passing game if not more), which would leave #6 touching the ball in the running game 9-12 times, something like that. 9-12 times isn't that many touches as far as running the ball goes really. With this stuff being said, I don't think 3 or 6 should run the ball in the Halls system. 3 is smaller than 6. In fact 7 is smaller than both those but makes up for it in his Long attitude. That kid plays like he's 225. But anyways, with the type of kids Halls has had this year they should have been in some sort of spread. Spread the field out, which means the defenses have to widen out and then you get your athletes running around some seams and let them do what they do. At one point I was told Halls was looking to go to the spread. Imagine with me if they had Now with the way this season has played out and using the eyeball test on all the kids, I would think that 34, 46 and 7 should run the ball when they're healthy right now in the jacked up system. They've ran it the best/hardest in my opinion. So there, how's that for saying something positive for 3 kids in spite of 2 others! Oh and #7 (a soph) might be our best overall player if #10 isn't. Please compare me to moronicus again! Haveityourway..........OK, we will take off the gloves & get this settled. There is no comparison, YOU have the roman genius Moronicus beat hands down for message-posting lunacy. Moron says most of his stuff in jest, ignorance or poor imitation of the great Stars-n-Bars from the "Merry-dell" (for you retentive spell checkers). You, HIYW, should know better. Who exactly are the #6 haters & when & where did anybody ever say they hated him? Certainly not IM80. I read most all of these posts & I do not recall anyone saying thay hate #6,.....especially in favor of #3 or anyone else on the team. Please provide backup for this divisive drivel you are spouting. If somone said they hate #6 they are the real Morons, but I haven't heard, read, or seen it. Wanting our coaching staff to spead the touches around to our host of very similar, good, but not superior athletes, is NOT hating #6. If you took it that way, you win the either the Moron, Ostrich, or Chicken Little award, your pick. Check the track stats for your real speed FACTs (oh, I forgot you don't belive in stats). Also, I think I heard that #3 pulled a hammy at the first track meet last year & yes, maybe is not as fast this year because of it, so what. I know both of these kids very, very well & love them both, neither are superior, thats the fact! Just truly good kids trying to grow up if we will let them. I think we do have good athletes, #6 & #3 are indeed among them along with #37 (underated, probably the truly football-fastest kid on team & maybe the mentally toughest), #46 (biggest heart-effort giver, & deceptively fast), #34 (strong, tough & very courageous--e.g. will catch it over the middle TW!), #11 (tough-hard working QB, future leader), #10 (probably best overall athlete), #14 (dependable, developed into great field general), #56 (Our version of Nick Reveiz, ...nuff-said), #7 ("bring-it" type hitter & quite a bit LARGER than #6 or #3...FACT), #24 (speedy & will "bring-it" also),#36 (just wait), ect...just to name a very few...but in my opinion, NONE are Superior. Go watch Alcoa play for that. Personally, I think the REAL heros are the kids who get the snot beat out them on the scout teams in practice every week for 4 years & never see the field on friday nights. I'm not talking about the ones who do not volunteer or force their way to the scout teams & only want a jersey. I'm talking especially about the Senior kids who play with heart, who get their only action on the scout teams since they can't play JV anymore. These kids & the other younger scout teamers have earned some friday night action, at least mixed in on the special teams, PATs or something. Its not like we are lighting it up on special teams either. HIYW, If the only football stats we have to go by do not count in your argument, let's throw them out. The only thing left is your personal judgement of these kids, you are indeed intitled to your opinion (the butt-krack theory in your case) but do not get on here & put down specific kids, then expect a token "but he is a good athlete" added at the end to make up for it. Very poor form. ZCar, I have always repected you and your posts but I am very disappointed you let yourself be cought up in this foolisness. Whether you think one athlete is better than another is subjective only to you (when HIYW disqualifies the only stats we have, erroneous or not), and is even more of a problem than HIYW's drivel because of the kids that look up to you. Out of respect, I won't comment further on your posts, If you want to talk to me about it, see me at the game or call me. Same goes for you HIYW. General Comment: Our problems are not due to the Wing-T offensive system. The Wing-T is only a time-honored system of offensive football, thats all. It appears "we" do not know what that system is all about, but Faragut & Catholic tasted the real thing last Friday. Ask them how the Wing-T, ran correctly, tastes this week, especially with a major multi-formation passing component. My point is that I'm not sure "we" could run any system correctly at this point. Our rushing problems are in large part due to extremely poor blocking (schemes, technique, execution or more probably all 3), so even Eddie George might not get through to level 2. Its not all on the RB's either. This is evidenced by the fact that no single RB we have has been able to consistently "pop-through" to utilize their talents against the secondary. So maybe we could pass quick & short on play action, sprint options etc..like we did vs. DB & Catholic. #14's fake-keeper look appeared to freeze the LBs worked very well Friday night. Heres a thought, lets do more of the few things we do well. Hummm.........brain surgery???? Last Friday night was the first game this year I felt the loss was mostly due to poor execution by the players (for whatever reason) & not mostly coaching problems. Turnovers in either redzone are deadly, we had 5, 3 in our red zone, 2 in AC's redzone. That is not TW or KJ's fault & its something that even our team does not usually do, so I do not think the fumbles were due to poor instruction or even poor ball security by the backs. Maybe, lets give AC's much maligned defense its due props & acknowledge AC just made good hits in combination with simply an unlucky, soggy, night. Or........Coaches Lombardi & Bryant might just be PO'd at us for this infighting BS. We have only 4 games left......lets support ALL of the kids in the short time we can (4 games or 4 years). If it truly means one kid gets 75% of the touches, then ok, shut-up, man-up, block your butt off & tackle like somebodys after your mamma, & let's get this thing turned around. This is OUR TEAM, not an individual showcase, so cut this crap out or Coach-T will. We may end up losing all of our games but we simply cannot let the TEAM give up. We can encourage them to focus, "Bring-it" & FINISH STRONG every play, most importantly in the few practices that remain, & I mean every single play, every single snap. The old football adage is very true: "You WILL play on Friday like you practice on Tuesday". Kids, You can inspire the coaches first. Do your best to Respect the coaches no matter what has happened. Show them you give a darn. They, after all, are sacrificing their family time & money for you too. Listen, to them, try your best to do what they instruct, ask questions for God's sake if you do not understand, don't wait until Friday night & look like a deer in the car headlights when what you see across the line doesn't look like the scout team looked or the film showed. Run between practice sessions, repsect the game. This "heavy stuff" may be hard for you to understand right now, but its really for you and your teamates, no one else. Seniors, ultimately the next 4 games will determine YOUR legacy. Its up to you to lead. Coaching, parents, peers, don't really matter now, they cannot determine how YOU respond to this adversity. You must find it in yourself, its in there, I've seen it first hand, trying to get out. Let it. All this petty bickering you see on these threads is really not intended to upset or hurt anyone. Its mostly just ex-jocks who care passionately about football & maybe relive some the power, honor & spotlight you now have on you. Thats not a bad thing unless we let it be a bad thing. It may be hard for you to see how much glory is yours to be had right now. We didn't see it either, until we didn't have it anymore. Once you graduate, you most likely won't be "the Man" anymore, ever....You will never again have the opportunty to so quickly determine your own fate. You simply must seize this opportunity & grow. This isn't just about football I talkin here, its life, but its one the reasons us old dudes love the game of football. I think the game of Football (sports) is one of the tools God let us humans develop to test our spirits, to see if we can do our duty, protect our brother's back,..........survive. When you come back to Halls in 20 or 30 years for your reunion, how do you want to be remembered? The class that got fed-up, whined & laid down? Or the class that, even though they did not have a stellar record, fought back, hit hard & earned the repect of their opponents & fans alike. Just like in Braveheart, 30 years from now, when you are old (like us), I promise you will dream of trading all the days from then until now to get these few very precious moments back & earn your place, your manhood. (just a metaphor moms ). Please see Joe-Pa's post game interview on ESPN after Penn State's loss last Saturday for what TEAM Football really means. Wake up, Im done now GO RED DEVILS HB76
  18. Like it or not, that appears to be the path the Coaches have taken, so the other players must try to get on board with it for us to get a win.
  19. Halls has some players but they are not used like they should be. Some play that shouldn't. Why we continue to give #34 the ball is astonishing. #46 is by far a better blocker and runner. Scrap the Wing-T. For goodness sake, get the ball to #6, #7, #46, #10 and #37. These are the play makers. Coaches have to see these issues on film or are they spending their time eating twinkies. #34 has played great when he gets the ball & blocking to go with it....see Catholic scrimmage. #46 was sick last week & that may have something to do with his number of touches, but he is just as good in different ways. Its the inability or unwillingness of the coaches to use the tallents this team has to the team's advantage that I just don't understand. #6 got at least 75% of the touches (rushes & passes) Friday night. How did that work out for you? If the coaches have decided that they are going to put the load on a single kid 75% or more of the time, then Ok, its their perogative, they are the coaches, but they must eat the stew they cook. The other kids must buy into that philosophy & block for him or it will not work. KJ said in the paper there was no confidence in anything they are doing. He's right on that. That must be remedied somehow. Last Friday I saw a team come out of the locker room totally flat & uninspired, horsing around on the sidelines, & generally not knowing what the heck they were doing, what squad they were supposed to be on ect. ect....This is terrible coaching..period. Yes, the boys must execute & give 100% effort & I think for the most part they are, but they must be led by coaches who at least act like they want to be there. I saw assistant coaches standing around doing absolutely nothing. At least have someone (assistant coach, water girl, trainer) counting players on the field for each squad change & keep sideline order. This stuff isn't coaching rocket science its youth league coaching 101. The continuously low team morale is turning into player and fan apathy...e.g. why bother? Instead of fixing it, it gets worse & worse. What happed to the fun exciting plays we ran in August vs. DB & Catholic? Where did the energetic assistant coach from Catholic we had in August go? Our defense seemed to play much better (more inspired) when he was there. But its not really a specific coach I'm talking about, its the enthusiasm for the game that tranfers DIRECTLY to the kids that seems to be missing. Also IM80 was correct in his previous post. HB76
  20. The way I understand the 2009-2010 TSSAA Footbal Regulations, Section III General Regulations, Part D.b; SEE BELOW: Since we (Halls) have 6 teams in our District that are in the 5A Playoff Subdivsion, our District gets 3 Automatic 5A playoff qualifiers. This is determined first by the overall record against District teams, whether 5A or 6A playoff subdivison teams. So a loss to SC doen't initially hurt as much as a loss to OR even though they are both 6A playoff teams because SC is not in our District.....unless there is a tie in the District records. Then ALL games come into play, district or not, 5A or not. See part E. below. In addition to the 3 automatic qualifier spots, we also have a shot at the 5A Playoff Wild Card spots which are determined by Head to Head, then greatest no. of victories ect..., so here is where our loss to SC could hurt. See Section F below. Since we play Webb, a non Division 1 school, certain additional tie breaking rules come into play. We also need any non-5A, non-district district team we play (eg. SC) to win as much as possible because the 3rd & 4th wildcard tie breaker is based on their no. of wins. Here is an excerpt from TSSAA website: 2009-2010 TSSAA Footbal Regulations, Section III General Regulations D. Teams shall qualify for the play-offs as either an automatic qualifier or as a wild card. Automatic qualifiers are placed in the bracket first. The remaining slots shall be filled with wild card qualifiers. Automatic qualifiers shall be determined as follows: a. Teams that finish 1st or 2nd in their district. b. Teams that finish in the top half of the teams from their Subdivision (Class 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A) Ex.: 8 teams in a Subdivision = 4 automatic qualifiers from the Subdivision 7 teams in a Subdivision = 3 automatic qualifiers from the Subdivision 6 teams in a Subdivision = 3 automatic qualifiers from the Subdivision 5 teams in a Subdivision = 2 automatic qualifiers from that Subdivision 4 teams in a Subdivision = 2 automatic qualifiers from the Subdivision 3 teams in a Subdivision = at least 1 automatic qualifier from the Subdivision 2 teams in a Subdivision = at least 1 automatic qualifier from the Subdivision 1 team in a Subdivision = 0 automatic qualifiers from the Subdivision E. In the event that there is a tie in district standings, the following tie-breaking procedures shall be applied and all regular season games, both district and non-district, shall count. If at any point when the following tie-breaking procedures are applied, one team has beaten all the other teams that are tied for a play-off position, that team shall be rated above the others. After any position in the district standings has been determined, the tie-breaker procedure shall begin all over again to determine the next position. This procedure shall be repeated to determine all places in the district. 1. The team with the greatest number of victories. 2. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams winning 50 percent or more of their games. 3. The team whose opponents have earned the most victories. 4. The team whose opponents have received fewer defeats. 5. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams in its own class. 6. Ten yard-line overtime procedure at neutral site Monday night at 7:30 P.M. F. Once the automatic qualifiers have been determined, the remainder of the 32 team bracket in 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A and the remainder of the 24 team bracket in 1A and 2A shall be completed with wild card teams. The wild card teams will be selected with the following criteria: Note: Some of the tie-breaker criteria below involve games against non-Division I opponents. If a team plays a school that is not in Division I, the following criteria will be used to determine that schools’ classification for the purpose of breaking ties. Non-Division I being non-TSSAA schools, TSSAA Division II schools, and out-of-state schools. The non-Division I school’s enrollment will be used. That school’s enrollment will then be applied to the current TSSAA enrollment breakdowns of 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A. If the school is non-public, its enrollment will be multiplied by 1.8. If the school is a single sex private school, the enrollment will be doubled and also multiplied by 1.8. 1. Head to Head 2. The team with the greatest number of victories. 3. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams winning 50 percent or more of their games. 4. The team whose opponents have earned the most victories. 5. The teams whose opponents have received the fewest defeats 6. Total wins by the opponents of teams defeated. 7. The team with the greatest number of victories in their own classification. 8. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams in their own classification winning 50 percent or more of their games. 9. The team whose opponents in their own classification have earned the most victories. 10. The team whose opponents in their own classification have received fewer defeats. 11. Total wins by the defeated opponents within their own classification. 12. The team with the greatest number of victories over teams in a larger classification. 13. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams in a larger classification winning 50 percent or more of their games. 14. The team whose opponents in a larger classification have earned the most victories. 15. The team whose opponents in a larger classification have received fewer defeats. 16. Total wins by the opponents of teams in a larger classification defeated. 17. Coin toss Once the 24 teams have been selected in the Class 1A and 2A playoffs, the teams will be geographically grouped into four six-team quadrants. In Class 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A, the teams will be geographically grouped into four eight-team quadrants. This grouping will be done without regard to region alignments. 2009-10 TSSAA Handbook The teams within each quadrant are placed in the bracket so that teams from the same district will not play each other in the first round. The only exception would be when 5 or more teams from the same district qualify for the play-offs and all 5 teams are in the same geographic quadrant. After teams from the same district have been separated, placements are then arranged with priorities given to automatic qualifiers. Teams finishing 1st in their district will receive highest priority. Teams finishing 2nd in their district will receive second priority. Teams not finishing 1st or 2nd in their district but finishing in the top half of their subdivision will be given third priority, followed by wild card qualifiers. Clear as mud? So as I see it, ALL games count in some way, some more than others. We just need to start winning, sooner the better. Welcome back L'Gengie26...do your thing Red Devils, just relax a bit, have fun , fly to the ball, know your job, do your job, 100% every play,...everything will be ok.
  21. Congrats Panthers & Happy Birthday Coach Lowe. Excellent timing on the call of the double reverse pass to take advantage of our necessarily quick-to-support-the-run secondary. Post game congrats from you and your staff to our players was all class & much appreciated. Maybe we can play one more time this year......maybe.....mathematically possible for another week or so. Good Luck with OR.
  22. Jan & Shane, Human words seem so very weak, but we can only assure you that your friends & Jake's known & unknown fans do truly feel this in our hearts. May God provide you some measure of comfort. Our deepest hearfelt sympathy from your friends at your Knox Halls alma mater.
  23. While we can post any of our thoughts, concerns, & gripes, this forum is not like talking on a private call with your buddies. The coaches do not care what goes on here but, our kids do read this stuff & it does matter to them. All of this focus on single player/s is what caused discontent last year & we all know how that turned out. I just think we should recognize that these kids see what you post, so I think we should speak our minds but do so with a little thought prior to posting. Comparing one player's personal non-football information against the other here is not productive if you don't use the real football stats. For clues, see last year's yards per carry & TD's per carry stats. See body wt. to strenth charts. See track records last 4 years. Go watch practice & see who knows assignments, alignments & executes blocks. Both current backs had decent runs last year primarily because #23 could block very well in addition to being the main rusher. All of our backs need to step it up blocking wise. The coaches (if they stay in town will decide how many touches one player or another gets based on what they think is best for the situation & opponent. If one player gets 20+ touches, so be it, but historically no individual Wing-T RB will get that many & the truth is we do NOT have a Devrin Young caliber player on this team. I'll bet 99% of people who DO know about HS football will agree on that. But so-what?, we can still play our strength, which in my opinion is a lot of good, relatively fast, similarly sized skill position athletes who have individual things that they do better than others. The coaches can and will choose them based on what they think is best for the game plan & situation. To assume that what we did offensively in the jamboree is what we will do during the real games is ignorant. AE has one of the best defensive teams in the state. Perhaps our coaches were just trying to set up the fast-flowing AE defense for some type of counter the opposite direction. Our problem appeared to be that we could not block AE well enough to get the set-up plays (most probably to #6/1)executed. So I do not think they were slighting anyone, it just didn't work out in the 12 min. we had. Our team has enough problems as it is. These kids have been playing together a long time & know how to be true teammates if we will let them. I for one, want only for our kids to enjoy this season as best they can now. The season is here. This is GAME WEEK. We are who we are & we have what we have. Let's help our kids reach that little extra-level of acheivement that only comes from a TEAM pulling in the same direction. Lets focus on the mighty Dragons. HB76
