Randel Trevena, 102.5 WOW Country in Crossville, is one of the best sports broadcasters in the state! He has been covering Cumberland County High School for over 30 years.
It was a good game, very physical. I wouldn’t call it an upset. This district is wide open. Cumberland traveled to Macon on Friday then Livingston on Saturday. That’s two long trips back to back.
The coaching staff is in year two and they have gotten the kids to buy in to their way of doing things. Still a lot of work to do but things are headed in the right direction.
Dave Prichard was just named the new Head Coach at Bearden, so Cumberland County is searching for a new head coach. They have a teaching position in PE. Good facilities and great community to live in!
Cumberland County has two starters out. One tore her acl before Christmas and the other got hurt in the district semifinals. Not sure of the severity or if she will be back for the region. Several girls stepped up last night to help them win the district. Hopefully that will boost their confidence moving forward.
Why do people have to bash one team or the other? The game was great and it put on display some very talented kids. We are lucky to have two great basketball teams in our town. The kids get along with each other and both teams have the opportunity to make a deep run in the post season.
The TSSAA does not recognize feeder schools. A high school coach can coach any student that does not attend his high school during the spring and summer.
Why does every position except for kickers and punters get four or more winners? You only play one quarterback so why do the specialists get less recognition? Also, no long snappers at all?
Cumberland County did not choose to play in 7AA. The TSSAA assigned them to that district. CCHS requested to play in 8AA due to the natural rivalries they already had but were denied.
Everyone that is complaining about Cumberland County not clearing the bench needs to check out their roster. 70% of the team is freshmen and sophomores. At any time there are at least 7-8 young kids on the field. He can’t sub any younger.
Not just first round. District 5AAA is allowing the district champions to host the region, so ithe girls will likely be at Bradley and the boys at Cleveland.
