  1. Savethepredators.com will be holding a rally concert/silent auction at The Rutledge this Tuesday, July 10 at 7PM. Cover is $10 with proceeds going to The Big Brothers/ Big Sisters for the purchase of season tickets. The show is all ages (18 and under accompanied by adult), and The Rutledge is a SMOKE-FREE venue (outside smoking area provided), located on 4th Avenue S, just over from the "Sommet" Center.... Here's an online flyer for the show: http://home.comcast.net/~37215/july10.jpg Savethepredators.com is also offering a high quality T-shirt for $12 to go towards the purchasing of season tickets. They have already been getting orders from areas such as Pittsburgh, where fans have said they know what we are going through here, as they also had to fight to keep their beloved team, and that they want to help us keep our team here. Also, check out Nashvilleloveshockey.com, and order your Predators bracelets/armbands and support the cause. To the naysayers, I just want to say, that whatever may happen, for instance if they do indeed move for whatever reason, at least we can say we did all we could do to keep them here. Nothing is ever certain, but at least we can say we gave it our all, and helped do our part.
  2. It seems that Kansas City is once again at it to steal a team. They honestly have a very strong selling point to get the Preds. A brand new arena. All luxury seats SOLD. Pro teams aren't to be trusted. They make cities bend over backwards to come, then when things start to slide, they are on to better things, often leaving cities in debt with multi-million dollar event centers left to rust at the taxpayers expense. That is the threat. KC is offering a hard sell.... BUT... one needs to keep in mind that they lost TWO pro teams over the years. They lost their own NHL franchise after only like 2 years in the 1970's, and they lost their NBA franchise in around 1984. In terms of market size, they are simlilar to us... Pro sports teams don't care, though. They will go to whoever provides them that stable situation at that current moment. Nashville's business community has failed us. Period. We have one of, if not THE highest civilian-owned season ticket sale bases in the NHL. The local businesses will definitely feel not having people downtown 42+ nights of the year. They are the ones who need to step it up. Regardless....everyone needs to show up at Plaster's rally, and also, those interested, my friend's band will be one of four local rock bands playing The Rutledge on Tuesday July 10 for a Save The Predators benefit. Silent auction, you name it. If you are in town, or close by, feel free to come join the cause
  3. So proud of local boy Corey Brewer. Gotta admit, though...I was hoping he would either go to nearby Charlotte or resurgent Chicago.........
  4. I agree as well. Kariya slipped a bit last season, and was dissappointing in the playoffs. Still, it's truly hard to form an opinion, and there are so many things yet to unfold, giving the current status of the team. I have no idea what is going through the minds of everyone involved. I do, however, hope to have the same type of help from the commissioner to keep our team here, as was given to keep the Penguins in Pittsburgh. Will we, though? Considering we are in a non-traditional market, get the same type of support from Bettman and Co? One can only hope.
  5. Wow guys..thanks for all the insight. Dixon should indeed, be unreal at RB, and by all accounts Greenwade should be the starting QB. I hate that we are opening up with Portland first game, as I like to always play them midseason....but oh well. It's mainly just a bragging rights game anyway. Let's get it started right by beating them the same way as last year. I hate to hear that West was sat out the Macon County game for the reason you guys said. Our offense was so lackluster that game. If West had been in, I believe he would have been the difference. In fact, I know he would have been. Our most pathetic game last year, in my opinion, was the Station Camp game. Horrible game planning and preparation. We flat out stunk that game.... Regardless, I feel that the Blue Devils will return to form this year as one of the best teams in the midstate..... GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!!!!
  6. Please post the 2007 schedule if you know it, and let's also begin discussion on this year's team.....
  7. Who wins this game depends on which team shows up on either side. Both have been inconsistent. White House is small and young, and really hasn't put it together this year. I think our best years are going to be in the next season or two. And also, concerning last Friday night's game, Station Camp is in fact, the real deal, and I hope they go deep in the playoffs, but our effort and overall gameplan the other night was flat out ridiculous. Worst WH game I have ever witnessed in my many, many years of going to WH football games. Having said that, I still wouldn't trade our coaching staff for any other in the state.
  8. Whatever. Congrats on a great win. White House just isn't that good this year. But as far as "BDP", when you win as many region and district championships as White House, and have a state title under your belt, THEN you can talk about how great you are as opposed to a team that has been winning for years.
  9. Amen sister! Let me just say, that in all my years of going to WH football games, this one ranks up there with some of the best. I'll be honest, after they went up 28-14, I contemplated leaving. But, I saw that the MAJORITY of the crowd was staying, and I had faith in one thing: BLUE DEVIL PRIDE! This game was the BEST White House victory I have experienced since we beat Memphis Woodale in dramatic fashion in 1990. Tonight, to see those kids lay it all on the line, and not give up, when they were down 28-14 with six minutes to go against a Nashville powerhouse, it just brought sooo much emotion in the stands that reminded me of that night in 1990 against Memphis Woodale. A night when we did the impossible, and made it onto the semi-finals. A year in which we almost didn't make the playoffs. I'll be honest, after the final gun, seeing our boys run onto the field at the end....I didn't wanna leave. Everybody was hugging and high-fiving everyone around them, and Man...just what it's all about BLUE DEVIL PRIDE!!!!!!!! I love our coaches...they are the best. I love this community, and I love the tradition that is WHITE HOUSE BLUE DEVIL football!!!!!!!!!! Great job BLUE! To Pearl-Cohn.... You guys are all class, thanks for a great time, and for great sportsmanship!
  10. Great job tonight, Blue Devils! Now THAT'S what White House football is all about!!!! Coach Porter said in the paper that we lacked emotion the last two games. Well, we had it tonight! Here's to the coaches that kept everyone's heads on straight, and here's to the Blue Devil players, for executing, and making Homecoming so sweet for the Blue Devil faithful!!! BDP, BABY!
  11. Couldn't have said it better myself. WH played horrible in the second half.
  12. It all depends on whether or not Justin West is back. The extent of his injury seems to be a mystery to everyone. Does anyone know? If West doesn't play, look for a repeat of the Beech game. WH's passing game has been non-existent for two years now. Four interceptions this week, along with obvious scenarios where the QB and Receiver were not on the same page provide all the proof you need. They never had a chance against Beech, especially after the halftime, which afterwards, Beech came out with a very well-planned, adjusted gameplan (and we didn't), and seeing how easily Smith County beat Macon County, and how bad Portland is turning out to be, makes me question really how far down the season can go, and if the playoffs are even a possibilty.
  13. First of all...Congrats to Macon County, you guys beat us pretty handily tonight. Good luck the rest of the way. GREAT QUARTERBACK, and that O-line really protected him! He picked us apart... If anyone wants to be the first to critique the Blue Devils, let me know, because I'd like to put my two cents in. I will say this, If things arent done differently on offense, most specificly the passing game, this is gonna be a long season. Station Camp, Pearl Cohn...geez. Playoffs may not be so easy to get into this year. Last year, where our passing game failed, we had Ricky Ladd to hand off to. This year, where our passing game failed, we have Justin to hand off to. Tonight, he wasn't available, but unfortunately, we couldn't turn to our passing game......it's non-existent. I can't believe changes haven't been made...... Anyway...here's to next week!
  14. To all those Portland fans that had those professionally made shirts, you know, the purple ones that on the back said in BIG BOLD letters, "WHITE HOUSE S.CKS".... I believe you just got it handed to you tonight. Whose house tonight? WHITE HOUSE! Let's see how the Portland Progressive handles the headline from tonight's game!!!!!
  15. I bet the fans in Houston are fit to be tied. Passing on Reggie Bush is still the boneheaded move of the year....The GM thought that Domanick Davis would be sufficient. Now that he is out for the season, what will they do?
  16. This one can go either way. I honestly believe we are right now, at this point in the season, on level ground. I hope our young Blue Devils can go in knowing that missed tackles, like the ones against Page and FS, could be the difference maker against an always tough Portland team. Gotta go with the Big Blue on this one, although I think it will be hard-fought. Regardless, the atmosphere will be electric both sides will be rocking!!! Get there early!
  17. OH YEEE-UHHHH! Rocky Top was back tonight in full effect. Tonight surpassed any and all expectations I could have held for the return of Cutcliffe. The defense was especially awesome! No missed tackles hardly at all. Let's hope they can keep it up....Go Vols!!!!!
  18. I thought we looked better tonight, but we are still a little rough around the edges. There were times that we needed to make key stops and couldn't. Stopping an offense on short yardage just isn't our thing. FS went for it a few times on 4th and short, and bulldozed ahead for a first. Our tackling is indeed getting better, but we have to play a near perfect game to beat Portland at home. These missed tackles and the occasional indecisiveness on throwing plays will bite us in the butt if we don't get it corrected.
  19. On the subject of Young, I was watching Channel 4's coverage yesterday and they showed Randy Starks intercept a Young pass at the line of scrimmage, and when he did, Vince layed him out, immediately. Hard. Pretty impressive, I don't care who you are. Also, to Randy's credit, he DID hold onto the pass!
  20. Gotta go with White House to be much improved this year. Once again they will be young, but they will feed off of the late-season surge of last year's team.
  21. Good to see that Ricky finally signed. They will be getting a hard worker that's for sure. Good also to see him teamed up with RJ Meadows, another local talent. Always good to see area student/athletes flourish......I wish him the best.
  22. LOL.....exactly NoDoubt...that's what we were discussing today at work. Let's see, Bobcats and Panthers eat, kill, maim...umm...."Indians" can be offensive for ethnic reasons...lol!! There are crazies like this that pop up in every community from time to time. She starts her letter off my saying, "Mother new to the White House area is seeking all those interested in a change of the White House School Mascot from the "Blue Devils" to reflect a more positive image not only of the community in general but to the wonderful young people of White House" She may be new to the community, but she won't be a very popular citizen for long. Since she feels so strongly about this, I'd like to see her read her proposal to the entire student body and QB club on the gym floor at our annual steak dinner!!! I wonder how well she'd be received?.....
  23. Pretty pathetic...she states that she is new to the community. Well, if this is how she gets involved in her new community with the rich tradition we have here, she won't be very popular. An excerpt from her letter... Dear Editor, Mother new to the White House area is seeking all those interested in a change of the White House High School Mascot from the "Blue Devils" to reflect a more positive image not only of the community in general but to the wonderful young people of White House...." I'd like to see her present this load of crap before the entire student body of WHHS on the gym floor and see what kind of reaction she gets!!!!
