I'm hope Gibson Co. gets a win or two this year. However I seriously doubt it will come this Friday. Good luck though

I would consider JCM one of the top teams in West Tenn right now. However I will not rate them THE TOP TEAM in West TN right now until they play Milan and until Huntingdon gets knocked off by someone. This is my top 5 in West Tn right now 1. Huntingdon (if you finish #1 you are #1 until someone knocks you off) 2. Milan (yeah they have had some close ones but good teams know how to win close ones) 3. JCM 4. Haywood Co. 5. USJ (yeah it is still to be determined but the win at South Side counts for a bunch)

And who helped G-Town beat Riverdale? Yep the kicker.... if the kicker wasn't any good than Riverdale would've won 7-6. Yes the kicker accounted for 4 of G-Town's points. He helped to make the difference with his extra point and FG. I did not see that game so I don't know much about it but why blame it all on the kicker? Why didn't Riverdale score a TD instead of having the kicker attempting a FG? Why did Riverdale only score one TD? Why did Riverdale's defense give up a TD and enough yards for the kicker to line up for the FG for G-Town? I guess riverdale's offense didn't have any TO's...heck I guess it was the kicker's fault wasn't it?

So are you saying that Albert Harris is going to be better than Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, and Travis Stevens? All 3 of those guys were RB's on UT's roster when UT won the 1998 NC. It was Jeff Hall who made the winning kick against Cuse. It was Jeff Hall who made the OT FG against Florida. Think of how many NC's FSU would have if it wasn't for bad kicks against Miami. They even have a history of good RB's in Greg Jones, Warrick Dunn, and Travis Minor.

A coach who demands his players to play only one sport really has no loyality to his school. This is something the administration and AD should address. He is having the players of his sport miss out on many HS memories and possibly a college schlorship in another sport, plus he is hurting the other sports from winning more by taking away depth and possibly an impact player. The coach should take the kids opinions in his heart and not his job Yes football can be pratically a year round sport with lifting weights and conditioning but all other sports can give them the conditioning they need(especially wrestling,track, soccer, and basketball) but they do miss out on a few months of weightlifting. However an extra 30 minutes/ 1 hour sessions of make up lifting can get the players back on track of strength.

Cedric Fields 207 yards and 3 TD's came on 20 carries. I guess other guys across had better averages and some had more yards, but he should still be in the top 10 somewhere. Having a back that can average 10 yards per carry will set up the passing attack between Evans and Buckley.

Sounds like impressive stats by Barnes, no matter the competition. Lexington's Cedric Fields should also be a canidate. All the talk was about their Evans and Buckley and a lot were quite about Fields.

Lexington will be 4 real this year. Scores from last year don't mean a thing. Looks like Hardin County's big win may silence some critics for a little while.

I guess I was wrong about the Trenton-Chester County game. Guess it was pretty exciting. I bet the USJ/South Side game was a good defensive battle as well. The Liberty/ North Side game was one real exciting one. North Side's special teams is what got them the victory. A kickoff return for the go ahead TD and an early FG is what made the difference.

Trenton vs Chester County is boring...unless you are a fan of one of the listed teams. Covington vs Haywood will be an awesome game JCS vs DCA is awesome Millington vs Munford is another awesome but I pretty much consider that a Shelby Co. game because Munford is so close to Shelby Co. Until Henry Co. proves that they are a good team by winning ball games I will not put them on my list. Dyer Co. vs Dyersburg will is a good rivalary but just not as exciting as some of the other big games.

Lexington should be where they are. They still have an excellent trio of players in Evans, Buckley, and Fields. USJ plsyed probably one of the toughest schedules in West TN for a 1A school. Now they have all of their guns healthy they should make some noise. We'll see what Hardin County has, #2 is high for them but oh well, just a bigger bullseye on their back.

Another option for Westwood was to ask the Carver coach to put in his reserves and also play 7 minute quarters. If he didn't go with the deal with putting in the reserves then he could've looked at the options of forfeting. I can see where the Carver coach wanted to keep in the starters in the first half because it was the first game of the season and he wanted them to get their reps. The Carver coach would've been stupid to keep in his starters in a game that was already out of reach because he could've risked an injury.

If I was in charge his background would read FORMER Westwood head coach.

There is a bunch of good ones this week. I say the South Side vs USJ will be a thriller.

Someone above asked when will the Sun have there High School preview. It will be out this Thursday the 26th. Looking foward to it. As far as the Sun reporting the Jackson teams they do indeed need to report on all Jackson teams but also need to give report on big games in surrounding counties. A lot of people that live in Jackson come from the surrounding counties and like to read up on their former schools and towns without having to find some way to access the small town papers. I mean I myself would want to read up on say the Milan-Huntingdon game when both teams have awesome records rather than a Jackson team playing in a game that will not have much siginfiance in the playoff picture. Just my opinion

Wow Someone like USJ is talking about rebounding. After the season Milan had last year, I see no need for a rebound. Must be nice to have to get a rebound after a one loss season.

BTW- Did Northside take it easy on Liberty last year when it was Liberty's first year as a football team? Are you going to tell me if they had the ball near their endzone last year before the half they would've taken a knee? Doubt it

Hah, yeah right, that would never happen in Humboldt. Please! Humboldt is one town in West TN that I hate. Not to offend anyone from Humboldt on here, I just perfer to stay away from Humboldt as much as possible(too many bad experiences). Just like going there for the Strawberry festival.
