Come on now Sequatchie. You also said you would play with us the last 2 years. South Pitt won't be as good as last year, but they should still be good enough to compete with everyone in the valley. I think 2nd place again in the region is a strong possibility, but 3rd? No way!
-
We will not beat Boyd this year. Last year both teams were pretty even and S.P. still didnt win. Boyd has alot coming back and S.P. lost almost everyone except a few starters. I have also heard that South Pitt has lost several of those skill position players to grades including several starters. It will probably be a long year.

I wish the boards could stay open until the end of that week (May 15 or 16th) Alot of teams will be finishing spring practice that week.
-
Looking forward to a great game this fall between Sweetwater and South Pittsburg. We lost alot so I would think it will be a very competitive game.
-
That's interesting coach. Is there a place where we can see those enrollment numbers?

I hate to break it to everyone hear but South Pitt has had several teams that could win it in 3A. Our teams last year at South Pitt and Boyd could have beaten Fulton. People have a big misconception about the 1A level. There is a difference in 1A and 4A, but not between 1A, 2A, and 3A. I assume one guy from here is from Smith County? I am not sure but didn't ya'll just barely beat Gordonsville last year? We beat them by 50 I mean come on man. Our team last year was good, but it couldnt stay within 28 points of the the teams we have had in 93, 94, 95, 98, and 99. I don't understand what you mean by saying Trousdale isnt competitive in 3A. They went to the semifinals two years in a row in 3A with 2 teams that were not one of their better ones. I guarantee you Satterfield will tell you those 2 teams couldnt stay within 30 of Trousdale's really really good teams they have had.

I agree the last two coaches got a bad rap. They did good with the talent they had. What did Colquette do his last year? 5-6 and exit in the first round of playoffs. This new coach may be a good coach, but everyone knows it takes some talent to win and they do not have the talent. In order to go very far they will have to beat Tyner. Would anyone like to bet that this will not happen in the next 5 years? From what I read in the newspaper Jasper has turned into a baseball town. Football will never be like it was during that great run they had.

I will personally be glad when Trousdale gets back to 1A after the realignments. We (South Pittsburg) have had some great games with them over the years. Oh yeah Trousdale can compete in 3A. They have not had a really strong Trousdale team since 99 when we played in the semi's. 3A isnt any better overall than 1A. The best two teams in 1A last year were Boyd and South Pitt and either one of them would have won it all in 3A. Trousdale went to the semi's their first 2 years up and came within 2 points of being in the championship with a decent team. 3A teams better be glad Trousdale has not had the teams they had throughout the 90's since they have been in 3A. I have alot of respect for their program. I feel that Trousdale and South Pitt are the top 2 small public school football programs in this state. I can't wait till we get to renew our friendly rivalry we have with them.

I am no coach, but I think I would rather them just divide the division 1 schools into fifths and classify that way. If they use this option we could go ahead and speculate what schools would be in what divisions. Well we could do this if there was a list available that had all schools listed with their enrollments. Plan Z sounds confusing to me. That consists of putting schools into the same districts they are in during basketball then moving them around when the playoffs get here for football. What happens when a team wins the district and plays up in classification for the playoffs? Does the second place team become district champions? I am just really confused how this plan would work.

Hey if I am not mistaken the schedules should be almost exactly the same as last years schedule. The only changes should be if someone had an open date last season and they found someone to feel that week for 2004. Schedules are made for 2 years at a time so the only thing different for this coming year is the home and away games. If it was home last year then it should be away this year and vice versa.

Who is Coach Shart? I don't think they have anyone on their staff by that name do they? Who is J.E.T? Is this the DuckButter Bandit under a new name or something? I just saw that name on here one day and thought it sounded kind of funny. Between the BANDIT and PUJO this board is comical.
-
I was noticing the DuckButterBandit has not been on the board since it opened back up. I hope he is ok!
-
Must not have been that great at JJKelly. They played Cloudland last year and got killed by 50 points.
-
Where did the guy that was at Monterey go? Didn't a guy from Jasper go there last year to be head coach?

Hey I just read in the paper where So.Pitt beat Lookout Valley last night. I know So.Pitt is no powerhouse in basketball at all, but they have had a lot of very bad years in basketball. I can't remember the last time they beat them. Does anyone know when that was? Is So. Pitt actually decent this year or is Lookout Valley really bad?

Just wandering if there has been any leakage from Ronnie Carter's Cabinet Room.

What do you thinkwill happen when the board meets?
Pirate2003 replied to Tacoma's topic in Public-Private Debate
They need to use some sort of multiplier like the other states do. A small multiplier would be fine for the publics too in certain areas if they want to do that. As small as our school is it wouldnt affect us at all. So. Pitt only has between 200-225 kids on a consistent basis anyway. 99% of the kids that go there are from a 4 or 5 mile radius. -

I think they will put it off again. South Pitt can compete most years with the privates, but outside of us I really feel sorry for the other small publics in Tennessee. -
You can forget Danny Wilson coming to Jasper. He is making way to much money in Cleveland and I have heard he is next in line up there. Taylor was done wrong at Jasper. They do not have the players they once had. Jasper will not win in the immediate future, it is ashame he was run out of town.
-
Boyd has those guys back, but I was looking at the state championship program and they also have 3 or their 4 starting linebackers back next season. I think they will still be the team to beat in the east. So.Pitt has the best chance of knocking them off, but thats probably a long shot. If Boyd were not in the east So.Pitt could easily get to Murfreesboro, but it is starting to seem like we are never gonna get to play there.
-
Yeah PuJo you can require it. I know for a fact South Pittsburg requires attendence at off season conditioning and weight lifting. I have heard many players complain about having to be there. If they didn't require this I am sure they would have 50 or 60 on their team instead of 35 every year. Hey Pujo s Cloudland's offseason weight program not mandatory? Do the players just come as they want?
-
I agree Boyd, D.C.A. and C.P.A. will be the three teams to beat in 1A next year. I wish S.P. could win another one, but it won't be next season. We will be decent next year, but not good enough to beat Boyd.
-
I can tell you this there is no way any school outworks South Pittsburg. It is true some years they have good talent, but a lot of that talent falls by the wayside because they don't meet the off season requirements. I have seen and heard several team's off season program and S P is among the roughest. Grider does give them off until January, but then it is 4 days a week of lifting and running for about an hour to hour and fifteen minutes each day. This last from January until spring practice which is in May. The team then works out again 4 days a week during the month of June. When July comes they practice 4 days a week for couple hours each day. Their off season is pretty brutal from what I see. You have to really be dedicated to play for them. Oh yeah about the guys being tall and skinny. SP does not have the mentality that bigger is better. They prefer smaller guys that can move over the larger slow linemen.
-
Next year D.C.A, C.P.A, or Boyd will win it again. S.P loses virtually every lineman. They have some good skill players back, but have to have some linemen step up. S.P won't be as good as next year, but they will still probably be the best public school in 1A next year. It would be extremely difficult to beat Boyd though. They should be really good again. I would say their defense will not be quite as good, but their offense will probably be better.
-
Good luck Boyd. I think you will win big. 20 or more points at least.
