  1. But papa, Alcoa is a Blount Co. school who is dominant in football and it wouldn't be any fun to not have conspiracy theories running wild!
  2. If any of you honestly think that a coach from the defending state champ and a program that many would love to see get nailed to knock them off their perch is going to: 1. allow his kids to work out on school grounds - under coaching supervision no less - during the dead period, and 2. allow the Senteniel to come in and actually photograph this, then I have got a prime piece of ocean front property in Arizona I've been trying to sell for a while now and will offer it to you for a great price. Just PM me for details!
  3. But even there the fans have a say in who plays and who doesn't.
  4. Kingsbury is just as Memphis as Melrose is. Once again, keep it in middle TN where you know what you are talking about.
  5. Actually I forgot something else that should be changed. Do away with the concept that all 30 teams have to have a represenative. There are just some teams that don't deserve one.
  6. Quit crying people. The only thing MLB should change about this game is the stupid idea that the winner of the game gets homefield in the World Series. This is the fans game to get to see the most popular players play together. If you have been to a baseball game in the past 10 years then the fans are getting ripped in every deal, and the least MLB can do is allow them to vote in the starters for the game, whether or not the player is having the best season or not.
  7. Heard on the radio this morning that Morris is able to return to UK, if he is wanted back, because of a loophole in the NCAA rules. If a player goes through the draft, is not drafted and does not sign an agent, then the player CAN return to play college basketball. Morris' dad says he never hired an agent, so if Tubby allows him back, Morris can return to play for UK. Now the question becomes is will Tubby let him back on or not?
  8. It is? My bad. You learn something new every day! I've still not got all of the city limits around here down pat yet, and I hardly ever go on that side of 65 anyway. Nonetheless, the kid is a heckuva QB (decent punter too) and I would take him over just about anyone else in the state.
  9. TC Jennings from Ravenwood in Franklin. Good arm, mobile, smart, and focused on his goals. I don't know much about these others, but I'd be hard-pressed to say I'd take another 17 year old in the state above him this year.
  10. Considering that right now I think Alcoa is the 2nd best team in the state in any classification, I'll go with Alcoa in a landslide.
  11. At least 3 years out of high school. That's the problem with basketball more than any other sport. In basketball, one kid can pretty much make a high school, or sometimes college, team. All they are ever told is they are the greatest ever, and when it comes time to compare them to the best of the best, they see they aren't as good as they thought, but they refuse to admit it because it hurts their ego. It's really sad. My personal favorite story from the draft was Randolph Morris. I don't even want to know what his "advisors" were feeding him.
  12. Ummmmm...........I hate to burst your bubble, but Camden is coming off a 10-2 season - two losses to Huntingdon - and a trip to the state quarters. They would probably beat Lexington if they played this season. Please don't start the trash talk again. I expect Lexington to be in the playoffs, but if they did not win the region with the talent they had last year, then they will not this year. Liberty and South Side are the teams to beat.
  13. Not to hurt yours........but when was the last time the Braves made it out of the divisional round?
  14. Now get rid of Kobe and bring Shaq back and I would consider liking the Lakers again.....
  15. Robert Horry. Role player, but Mr. Clutch. If (when) they win this, look back to his performance at the end of game 5.
  16. As I stated on another thread, I see Liberty winning the region, with slots 2-7 going who knows where.
  17. Valid point reqarding Wainwright and Reyes. I usually don't want to screw the future over the present, but this team is built to win NOW and is not getting any younger. We've had a nice run since 2000, but it's not going to last forever, and I want to make sure we get a title out of it. I just don't want this team to be like Seattle or the Titans and then just one day everyone realize how old they are and they fall off the table. With a mobile 4th outfielder, then you can give the other three guys days off. Walker has a good day or so every now and then, but is looking a lot like Mac did at the end, and in my opinion could serve as a much more important pinch hitter (or DH) in October than an everyday guy in the field. Plus, having the 4th outfielder would allow those guys days off to where they could be fresh in October. Sanders just strikes out too much. That's my only gripe with him. Physically he's probably in the best shape on the team and could play 5 more years. It's just my opinion. And this all may be for nothing when we get Rolen and Edmonds back in the lineup and everyone can go back to their usual roles in the field, lineup, and on the bench.
  18. Does anyone else besides me think that priority #1 for Jocketty and the front office before July 31 should be to get a younger outfielder who can take some of the load off Walker, Sanders, and Edmonds this year and then take over either right or left fireld next year? I love those three, but they ain't spring chickens anymore, and where a major strength has been previously, I see a major exclamation point for trouble this season. I know it should improve a little once we get Rolen back in the lineup and Mabry can assume duties of filling in giving guys a night off, but I'd still like to have an everyday guy out there to help. All runs of being a potential contender eventually come to an end, and I don't want to waste the golden opportunity we have this season! Thoughts?
  19. Can someone update me as to what has been going on in Blount Co to cause this? I honestly have no clue. If a plus member will just PM me that will be fine. Del, Emeritus, someone? I have feeling about the whole issue that are pointless for this conversation, but I do think it is stupid to ban ALL signs, flags, banners, etc. We all know what the root issue is, so don't try to hide it. Maryville students are some of the best I have seen, and I love watching high school kids acting crazy to support their school (within reason of course). I suspect they will come up with something clever instead. The lone thing I will say is that from my experiences, usually when something like this gets banned, right or wrong, it usually just breeds more feelings of anger than eventually are going to cause an explosion somewhere that I am afraid will have dire consequences.
  20. I may be the only person on this board who believes this, but if Thompson is at Fayette-Ware then don't count them for dead. Personal stuff aside, the guy did a great job at Melrose and will have talent to work with at FW. Region 6 will be a close one, but based on last year at the end of the season, I'd have to say that Liberty will get the edge with 2-7 being who knows where!
  21. Good news, I got to see Randy Johnson pitch like the old Randy Johnson. Bad news, we lost.
  22. Almost 10 years ater he was hired, most of Cardinal Nation still hasn't fully opened their arms to La Russa and still contend Whitey was better. Differing styles, and La Russa still hasn't brought home the WS trophy. La Russa passed Whitney for 2nd all time in Cardinals wins Tuesday night with only Red Schondiest ahead of him, so inevitably the discussion has come up again. This is hand down the biggest thing that most Cardinal fans disagree on. So who would do you think is the better manager, Whitey or La Russa? And please give reasons for your thoughts!
  23. I personally enjoy how CBS is televising the BYE. I hear they are opened at 2 and a half point underdogs for that one as well! thumb
  24. 64 runs straight into Memphis and is pretty good travel for the majority of it. I'd say that is the easiest way to go from Chatty.
