Angry can only begin to describe how I felt when I walked in the door and saw him out.......then saw the destroyed plant, knocked over pictures, and potting soil on the couch. Let us be thankful no new TVs were damaged.

The SEC somewhat amazes me with their marriage to CBS and that they have not sold out to ABC or ESPN. Granted I am not sure of the financial terms of the deal, and I am sure it is pretty good and there is also a national game every week, but part of me wonders if it is not in the best interest of the SEC from a power broker standpoint to sign on with ABC/ESPN. I mean, let's face it, the only reason ESPN plays up the Big 1(1) so much is because they are the golden egg of the network. You don't think the guys on there know football well enough to know the SEC is better quality football? But, you gotta dance with the one that brought you. But, ESPN gets more and more powerful in the college football world with each passing season. They are the main voice that matters. When they want a playoff, college presidents will start listening more. I'm interested by this power move by Fox with the BCS games (and from a competition standpoint think it could be great for the game as a whole and fully do expect them to go after the SEC, Big 12 or Big 1(1) the next time contracts come up), but as of now if nothing changes, I contend it is in the best interest of the SEC to jump on board with ABC/ESPN.

The West Coast offense was probably the biggest change in the game of football since the invention of the forward pass. If it were not for him, Joe Montana would not be considered one of the greatest QB's in the history of the game. He was a great coach, and was one of the few who were able to succeed in both the college and NFL levels of the game. Sad day for true football fans everywhere.

muffin, that may be your longest post on coachT. I was different though. From the first time I tried them I loved them. Brats on a hogie bun smothered in ketchup and mustard while watching football. Can't beat it.

I'm happy for him and the folks in Bruceton. Anybody wanna bet where the new highest rate of 49er fans in the state will reside?

From someone who has just recently plugged his is XBox, not a 360, for the first time in a year, is it worth buying? 06 is the latest installment I have.

I might make a couple of trips out to OR in the next couple of weeks.

No, no, no, no, no, not now. 2 years ago, yeah, but not now. Trust me, Cut's straightened a lot out up here. That onus not falls to Urban Meyer. See, he suspends them 3 games, but he'll rig the suspension to where they play against UT, UGA, LSU, etc. but sit against the 1-AA teams on their schedule. I've even heard Florida fans admit it would take a player murdering someone for them so sit Sept 15.

Bighurt, I'm glad that someone else had this thought too when they heard about this.

Like I've said a million times, UT's season rests on the linemen. If they can dominate, UT will win 10 at minimum, probably 11. (Don't think anyone can run the table in the SEC this year.) If they don't, well....I don't want to think about it. And as much good as I have heard about them improving, especially in the running game, the shoddy play for 4 of the past 5 years (the last two especially) has me concerned. As for the mighty Gators..... That are going to be talented, but young, especially on defense. Young defenders and defenses in whole tend to be swallowed up in this league. They'll win 9, maybe 10, but I think the youth will not allow them to win the east. Look out for the ol' ball coach. This is the first year he said he thinks he can win at SC. We should pay attention to that. As for the west half of the league.... Bama ain't got enough talent yet to compete, Arkansas is going to fall in under itself with all this controvery surrounding everything (I think they could make UT 05 and Bama 2000 look like great teams), which leaves Auburn and LSU. I think LSU has too much talent not to win, in spite of their coaching. Mark my word - Red Stick will miss JimBo more than anyone realizes.

JFK Assassination
Solomon replied to goo goo cluster's topic in Politics, National Issues, & Controversy
I will never be convinced there was only one shot fired. Whoever it was, Oswalt did not act alone. -
Because you don't know the answer to your second question, you are no longer invited.

Can't find the post to reply to, but who are the teams' preseason scrimmages and where?
-
That's pretty good stuff. I am interested to see who Maryville will pick up in 09 out of region other than Alcoa. Assuming all things stay the same, I guess Farragut would go to 1-5A (if they don't drop to 4A because of Hardin Valley) to make two 8 team regions. Alcoa...then who?
-
So basically, of schools of similar size, Maryville has been playing the local schools since Maryville has been playing football? And I would bet there would be a near county riot of both sides if they ever stopped doing so? In other words, there is a lot of tradition in the match-ups?
-
For the new guy in the city still....(you guys really need to offer a class to teach Blount Co. Football History) What were the schools before the two current county high schools? And did the teams play then?
-
So has anybody else thought of the ONE way this problem could be taken care of, no questions asked? Hint - It would require a meeting....but not of the T$$AA. Well, make that two, but that would require a teacher strike.
-
2P, you have officially lost it. Heck, it's raining here and I still want more. I'd take 48 hours straight if it would do it.

I agree and disagree. Although it doesn't apply in this case, you've got to remember that the Hispanic population is the fastest growing in the US right now. That also means it is the fastest growing voting block. Both parties want to get the vote of that block so bad at the federal that they are not willing to do anything that might turn them off one party and onto the other one. It pretty much disgusts me.

Guessing Chattanooga schools count as East TN?

This is ludicrous. I agree with others that the rule is in place so it should be followed, but the rule is absolutely preposturous. I heard this game being discussed and promoted on the Dan Patrick Show on ESPN Radio yesterday. There are 38, I repeat 38 players in the nation who have been selected to play in this game. Think of the number of junior high school players who suit up a baseball uniform every year and then imagine being selected one of the 38 of that group. You want to talk about an honor? What will be more memorable 50 years from now? Sitting in a classroom filling out paperwork or getting to play n this game? Of course, when asked, King Ronnie and his court jesters will do nothing more but talk about academics and how academics come first. Never mind that little thing called a state tournament that keeps bball players out of school a week in March or the Spring Fling where many students must choose to participate or attend their own high school graduation. But because the T$$AA can't make a buck off of it, it's not as important as academics. The T$$AA, King Ronnie, and all the BOC and legislative board members are nothing but a bunch of absolute idiots. The only thing that any of these members care about is increasing their pension fund and taking care of their vested interests to stroke their own egos. I would say I would gladly throw money in the hat to pay for their meeting to have this apepaled, but because I know nothing positive would come of it besides "these are the rules" I don't want to give the T$$AA any more money that the however much it will cost to attend a playoff game this fall. I wish BA had won that ridiculous lawsuit against them just for the sole fact that they could have literally owned the T$$AA and gotten rid of the incompotent bozos who run the thing. I also wish some other schools would get some intestinal fortitude to actually challenge jesters who run this thing. I place as much of the blame on those schools as well. Ludicrous.
