Melrose had to play at 11:00, which is 10:00 their time. They either had to leave Memphis at 3 or 4 AM or come up early and spend the night. Spending the night would get awful expensive I would think.
26 penalties in this game, not counting the offsetting penalties. Some were obvious, but others seemed like the refs inserted themselves too much. I could be wrong, but it seems two championship teams would not have that many penalties. Plus Morris got ejected.
Location is a big reason for low attendance. It is hard for fans in the west to travel to Chatt. It would be hard for fans in the east to travel to Memphis. I think the championships should be centrally located in Nashville or Murfreesboro. Then I believe crowds increase.
Given the rain and sloppy field conditions, I got Germantown taking this one. Seems Collierville relys a lot on the passing game which will be tough to do in this weather.
That's the truth. Houston, Germantown, Bartlett, Collierville and what seems to be an improved Whitehaven. Somebody's getting left out of the playoffs!
I know this was a while back but Southwind whipped Collierville in a scrimmage, if I'm not mistaken. Collierville beat Beech, also a while back. May mean nothing.
Thank you for the info. I looked the rule up and noticed it doesn't define targeting. I would think this needs to be defined in the rules. We all know what it is in college because they tell us the definition every Saturday when it comes up. This should be included in the NFHS rules although there is no replay to confirm it so it is up to the refs judgement. There's a can of worms right there.
Been missing this. Thanks BHS. M y picks:
