  1. It's a terrible thing that happend to the victim. Absolutely terrible and difficult to put into words how terrible the act was. Those who committed the crime should face punishment to the furthest extent of the law. With that said in the grand scheme of things, I feel like some comments here and elsewhere are pretty far off base. For one, some are wondering why the coach wasn't supervising the players. Are you folks incenuating that the coach should be with all his players 24/7 on this trip (which is impossible BTW)? Have your kids ever played high school sports and traveled overnight? By taking this stance, you are saying that all overnight trips for all high school sports teams should be done away with. I think its ridiculous to fire the AD or coach. If a player would have showed up and shot 3 people would it be the AD's fault? The coaches fault??? If you are a boss and workers under you sexually assault another co-worker, should you be fired? I'd hope all of you casting stones and calling for heads to roll would love to hop in the unemployent line if something you did not do cost you AND your family their job/income. I assure you that 99.999 % of coaches want the ABSOLUTE best for their players, and I'm sure that the Ooltewah coach is the same way. This is a terrible event. But the accountability falls squarely on the shoulders of those who committed this haneous act and on those present at the time who stood idly by and didn't step up and do the right thing by stopping it.
  2. TSSAA needs to stay out of it, plain and simple. First of all I seriously doubt these guys are D1 pitchers, because D1 pitchers don't need 120+ pitches to win a game in AA. The vast majority of coaches take care of the arms of their pitchers because having fresh arms in May gives them the best chance of advancing in the tournament. 99% of high school players are not going to play in college. If a kid wants to compete and give his team a chance to win, I say let them go. Good coaches are smart enough on when to rest em and when to roll em.
  3. Glad to see FC put together a good season. Tough out of district schedule too.
  4. Hot spot for baseball LOL. Get on the interstate in SP and drive west an hour and you will see what a hot spot looks like.
  5. Polk hasn't won a 2nd round playoff game since some where around the Carter Administration... If ever. Pchs02 go crawl back under your log and spend the rest of winter hanging out with your fair weather fans
  6. People tend to lose sight that hiring coaches in high school isn't what it is in college. A high school coach is really lucky to get to bring two or more coaches with him. I'd say the exception would be at a school that highly values football (someone mentioned CC in Ga... They value football). Not only does FC not have 4th block athletics, from what I gather they don't have a weight training class for athletes.... But the band gets to practice during school. Letting the band practice but not the other athletic programs leads me to believe there won't be any jobs created for assistants.
  7. Bottom line is the Head coach is responsible for all the program and his coaches. After all it was his face on ESPN, not the assistant coaches when the Marion thing went down. He knew what was going on. I hope FC makes a good hire, and maybe it will be McCurry. However, I don't think there is a school in TN that will hire McCurry this close to the Marion scandal... maybe sometime down the road though.
  8. FC doesn't pay well and not having an athletic period isn't going to attract many coaches. From what I gather they are in the process of hiring a new superintendent. Maybe the new person will change that.
  9. That makes no geographical sense what so ever
  10. Franklin Co swept Shelbyville 9-8, 4-1
  11. Well said. Doug has no clue beyond the end of his nose
  12. EH won't finish in the top 3 in their district.
  13. EH will be at best an average AAA team this season
  14. Ive seen each team play once (ND at Catholic, and PC at McMinn Central) and I believe that both are decent teams with good chances to win a game next week in the quarterfinals too. ND having their starting RB will a significant difference for the ND offense. A good RB can make a world of difference in the efficiency of an offense (i.e. UGA and Todd Gurley). Not saying their RB is an all american, but it does make a difference. Winning big games usually comes down to minimizing mistakes (penalties and turnovers). I see PC winning that battle and thus winning the game..... barely
  15. Would be interesting to see what he could do coaching at a school with more depth and overall talent than Polk has on a year to year basis. Polk rarely loses games due to lack of will or execution, but their lack of athletes is something that has kept them from advancing in years past IMO. 2010 was the best Polk team I saw. Coincidentally, that team was also the most athletic.
  16. Haven't seen either team play this year... If central sells out to stop the running game between the tackles can they win?
  17. In 2011 (probation year) Knox Grace had one of the best small classification football teams id ever seen. Best of luck to the big blue. Hopefully a tough early season schedule has them prepped for the cats.
  18. Polk off to a great start. Riverdale has allowed over 80 points in two games, they're down this year. Neither Bradley nor Riverdale will sniff the playoffs this season
  19. One of these days the blue will prevail. Sadly the best chance they had to beat mcminn was when they played that bs scrimmage
  20. Why is the Bradley v. Polk game at Polk County this year? Wasn't it at Polk last year?
