  1. The 2nd half kickoff was at 10:02, game ended about 10:50. Wave win 41-6.
  2. In your last paragraph it sounds like you're describing something that seems to have mostly gone away, and that's choice. Football is voluntary, so it seems to me the thing to do would be to let them play, with guidelines in place, and those kids and/or parents who feel it's too risky, they can choose to opt out. From what I've gathered I think the vast majority would choose to play, as they're doing in counties that are playing. Gosh, I used the word choose in two straight sentences, that would just be too logical I guess.
  3. I'm not trying to start an argument but I wonder how long do people think the government should force caution on society? The numbers have by percentage remained low for all these months already, would the active cases have to get to zero? And if the numbers don't hit whatever point that is for two, three years, or maybe never, what then?
  4. Yeah I'm not sure what their plan would be all by themselves in the far corner of the state. Believe me, I've not always agreed with the TSSAA on everything, but I applaud and appreciate them for going to bat for these kids that deserve and have earned some normalcy in football.
  5. This is not in the TSSAA Covid special guidelines, so it must be a Knox County thing.
  6. Gallatin now playing at Green Hill on Sept 4, and the Oct 30 against Glencliff is now at home.
  7. Gallatin now playing at Green Hill on Sept 4, and the Oct 30 against Glencliff is now at home.
  8. Nothing like actually being at a high school football though, I've missed very few Gallatin games over the last 40 years. Add to that now my wife is a cheer coach, and my two stepdaughters are on the squad, so I'll do everything I can to get into each game. If I don't I'll find the best spot on the fence outside.
  9. Moving on now that full practice has been approved and the season will start on time, there is the strong recommendation from the TSSAA that schools sell tickets up to only a fourth or third of their stadium's capacity. That won't be a big issue at some schools, but I've already thought about games like Gallatin at Station Camp, Gallatin at Hendersonville, and Beech at Gallatin. With that stipulation in place, you could potentially have more fans trying to see the game OUTSiDE the fences than inside. Just thinking ahead.
  10. Around 40,000 active cases, which is a whopping .57% of Tennessee's population.
  11. I agree 100% mondo, I would rather have a full season in the first place, and secondly I'm not even seeing a condensed season this fall. In my opinion the best chance at football is February. Of course we know the TSSAA will pick the most messed up plan, no matter what everybody thinks or wants.
  12. As I've already said it might be a year or two or longer before there's some sort of control on this thing. Heck, maybe never. Are we willing to go several years before we play sports, and everything else to return completely? We might need to come to grips with this and realize our new norm possibly includes this virus, and others that might pop up. In other words, we need to learn to live with it, since it's probably not going away soon.
  13. Thanks! With the way this year has been we certainly need things to get back to normal, or as close to it as possible. Our kids need to be back in school, they need the activities that come along with that, and our communities need high school sports, they have a way of holding us together, especially football.
  14. We're going to have to learn to live with this thing, I don't think it's going away anytime soon. Surely our society realizes that we can't go on for months and even years with things closed or cancelled. We hear about vaccines, but it may take years to develop one that's effective enough to have confidence in it. Even then, we see how vaccines work with the flu every year. With that being said, there are roughly 10,000 active cases currently in the entire state, out of 7 million citizens, if I read the numbers correctly. That's about .14%. I feel for those that have had it, I would most likely feel differently if I was in that number, but that is a very small percentage to just keep taking things away.
  15. Yes, 9 teams, so there'll be 16 district games. Also with an odd number of teams there'll be one team off every district night, and that's already caused some scheduling issues.
  16. Gallatin went 5-0 against Region 4 6A, so they would've won it this year.
  17. What about the 5th place team, which looks to be Richland, who would jump to 4th if the appeal is denied? That's definitely a strange spot to be in, waiting to play or not to play.
  18. This is what is printed at the bottom of the bracket: All times are local time. In the first and second rounds the higher seeded team shall be the host school. In the third round and semifinals in even-numbered years the bottom team in each bracket shall be the host team. If two teams from the same region meet in the third round, the team seeded higher in the region standings shall host. According to this, Friday night's winner would be on the road in the quarterfinal (bottom is on the road in odd years) if ANY Region 5 team is the opponent. Seeding only comes into play if two teams from the same region meet in the quarterfinal. That's the way I read that anyway.
  19. I started seeing changes from the very moment Coach Watson was officially announced, he and the great staff he assembled have absolutely changed the culture, the air surrounding this football team is amazingly different. It built through spring and summer up to now, they have these kids fully buying in, fully believing in themselves in what they're preaching and teaching. I started telling people from the very start they were going to see a different football team this year, and look where they are, undefeated with 5 shutouts. I don't know about these next two games, and I don't know about the playoffs, but I like our chances, because I have personally seen what this team is about, what it's made of, what it's built on. I felt all along that Gallatin football was headed in the right direction, and it is, I'm as excited as ever to see how this thing winds up this year, and the bright future that's no doubt ahead.
  20. Chris Harris from Channel 4 is reporting this morning that Glencliff will play at Hillwood Friday night, so they're not done just yet.
  21. The Tennessean may have been a bit premature in reporting this. According to Chris Harris from Channel 4, the Glencliff head coach is saying nothing is final just yet, options are being discussed and meetings are scheduled for tomorrow.
  22. The polls went from 18 voters to 17 this week, and evidently that 18th voter is the one that's been giving Gallatin the 1st place vote. What's interesting is Gallatin has been just outside the top 10 with that vote, and leaps into it without it, replacing a team that didn't lose, Page.
  23. I'm with you GWave1. I'm sure Henry County is very good, and I'm sure Beech is very good, but there are other very good teams out there, and I know Gallatin is one of them, because I have seen them, up close and in person. They have beaten 3 good teams in Lebanon, Mt Juliet and Hillsboro, and the other 2 wins over not so good. Every team good bad or ugly plays some good teams, and some bad teams, that's the nature of high school football. Our next game is a 4-1 Wilson Central team who appears to be good also, we just need to keep winning and the rest will take care of itself. Just because my team is good and I want to toot my horn a little doesn't give me any reason to hate on another team.
  24. I think I'm right on this, you get 10 points for a 1st place vote, 9 points for 2nd, and so on to 1 point for 10th. As an example, Knox Central got 16 1st place votes for 160 points, so they got 2 2nd place votes for 18 to get their 178. Gallatin got 1 1st place vote, so 10 of their 31 points came from that one voter, while the other 21 came from the remaining 17 voters. It's interesting that one voter has them the best in 5A, while most of the others have then way down the line.
