  1. The 2 teams met in the jamboree and it was a 6-0 win for Waverly. McEwen & Waverly are BOTH much improved this season. The Warriors got a big win at East Robertson this past week. The Tigers hammered Houston County and took a close victory against Hickman County in a wild contest in the season opener. I think in a "rivalry" game like this anything can (and will) happen. Last year's game was a win for Waverly as Tyler Fuller hauled in a tipped ball for a score. This year's game will be a competitive battle but I like Waverly to come out victorious 28-14.
  2. Thank You for clarifying this shadow. East Literature is not an "automatic" qualifier if they beat Pearl-Cohn this year. The formula to make the playoffs as an automatic qualifier is not the same this year as it was last year. The top 2 teams go as automatic bids (regardless of whether they are 3A or 4A) from every district. After that the teams are taken as wild cards and the first thing that will be a deciding factor when that process occurs is OVERALL WINS. That means that both CPA & East Literature better find a way to get to 5-6 wins this season because 4 is not going to be enough to land a playoff spot. East Literature has Whites Creek & Stratford remaining and I believe they will beat both of those teams. They need to do themselves a favor and not get tripped up against Glencliff & Sycamore (which cost them the playoffs last season).
  3. No they wouldn't. Apparently you haven't been looking at the Cubs scores over the last 2 weeks. They would beat the snot out of R.B.S. Nice spelling though.........it actually corresponds very well with your overall spelling ability
  4. The District is looking like it's going to be good once again this season. Camden Central is the favorite to win the district but after them it appears that it's a tossup on any given night between the teams that make up the other 6 slots. Stewart County is still a very solid football team and the trio of Cheatham County, Montgomery Central, & Waverly Central has improved greatly since last season. Creek Wood is very solid as usual despite graduating a very large senior class from last season. Harpeth had to play Camden Central last night so it's too early to make a prediction in regards to those guys.
  5. RBS couldn't score 27 in a half on Goodpasture if they were allowed to play with 15 at a time. Macon County's schedule is about to get much more managable. I look for them to use the BYE WEEK wisely and make a push in the 2nd Half and suprise a few folks. Pemberton has them competing.....
  6. Camden Central seems to have established themselves as the early favorite not only in District 11-AA but throughout west-TN. They should be ranked #2 in this week's Associated Press Poll (behind Alcoa of course). Easley is off to a good start at quarterback and of course we already know that the Lions have backs and offensive linemen that are very good. Defensively they are very big and athletic up front and they have a group of linebackers that could be among the best in the entire state (any class). Going off of McKenzie's results with both teams of course I would have to take Camden Central to win this battle. It will be a physical contest and 28-14 sounds like a good score prediction. Let's hope I get one of these west-TN picks right for once (Camden, McKenzie, Westview, & Milan being the teams I speak of....).
  7. History tells you all that Fulton starts out "slow" and always gets hot at the season moves forward. Alcoa better not overlook Fulton because they do not need to be the excuse for jump starting another strong push for the Falcons football program. I don't know if it was the last time they met there or not but I do recall Fulton knocking off Alcoa on the Tornadoes home field back in Week 3 of the 2006 season. Could lightning strike twice?
  8. Yes sir I am still doing the broadcasts. I miss those old Region 5-3A days because now we hardly ever play anyone who has another radio broadcast crew (outside of Smith County, Waverly, & Creek Wood) that I get the chance to socialize with on Friday nights throughout the season. Hope all is well with the Patriots!
  9. This upcoming week marks the 10th time that Cheatham & Sycamore will meet up on the gridiron. In the first 9 meetings between these 2 bitter rivals Sycamore leads the series 6-3. The War Eagles victories have come in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009 while the Cubs took the games in 2003, 2005, 2008. The last 2 matchups in Pleasant View have been decided by a total of 3 points with Sycamore winning 30-28 in 2006 & Cheatham winning 15-14 in 2008. Football fans from both the Ashland City and Pleasant View communities should come out for this one because it promises to be another great installment of what's quickly became a great rivalry in just one decade. Cheatham (2-1; 1-0 in District 11-AA) enters the contest riding a 2 game winning streak in which they have averaged 47 points per game. Sycamore (1-2; 0-1 in District 9-AA) has seen their last 2 games decided by a total of 3 points (1-1 in those games). The game can be heard over the world wide web at the Cheatham Cubs Fan Page and if you are in the stadium and want to listen to the broadcast check us out at WQSV AM790 to hear all of the LIVE action.
  10. Congrats to Greenbrier on another excellent win in this series which tonight apparently produced another classic battle.
  11. Cheatham defeated Stewart tonight by a score of 46-21. The win marked the second game in a row in which the Cubs scored more than 40 points. This was also the second consecutive game in which the Cubs starting backfield duo of Montgomery & Potts both went for more than 100 yards. Devin Conner tossed 3 touchdown passes in his third start at quarterback. The Cubs defense forced 6 turnovers tonight including interceptions by Paul Farmer (2), Josh Weaks, and Dakota White (who returned his INT for a touchdown). The win was a very solid performance against a team in Stewart Co. that has made the TSSAA State Playoffs each of the last three years. Cheatham now must turn their attention to next week's in-county clash with Sycamore. It should be another classic battle between these two arch rivals.
  12. How will they be 0-3 when they are only 0-1 (loss to Page) entering the contest? They play Overton next week and I believe that both Maplewood and Overton will beat DL this season but 0-3 after this week is not possible seeing that only 2 games will have been played.
  13. This week is the first week of district games and in Ashland City on Friday night the Stewart County Rebels (1-0) will visit the Cheatham County Cubs (1-1). For more information regarding this week's matchup you can check out the Weekly Game Notes which have been uploaded on the Cheatham Cubs Football Fan Page. Stewart County overwhelmed Cheatham County in last season's matchup as they cruised to an easy 41-0 victory in which their defense held the Cubs offense to -4 total yards the entire night. This contest is one of three opening games for six teams around District 11-AA this week. The other matchups include Harpeth hosting Camden Central & Waverly Central hosting Creek Wood. Montgomery Central is out of the district this week and will square off against West Creek. This matchup can be heard LIVE on Friday night by visiting the Cubs Fan Page (link posted above). The pregame show will start at 7:10 p.m. and kickoff will follow at 7:30 p.m. If you are making the trip to Ashland City this week and want to listen to the game on the way or in the stadium then your radio dial will be WQSV AM790.
  14. Thanks for clarifying this. I guess the score was 24-21 and Westmoreland is in fact 0-2 on the season. How in the world do you confuse reporting a 24-21 game with a 48-0 game? Someone needs to grow up and start reporting the right scores because giving false score reports can be very confusing.
  15. The Tennessean & tssaa.org has Westmoreland winning the game 48-0. Read the topic that I posted regarding this score earlier and it was confirmed. Who told you the score was 24-21? CoachT scoreboard?
  16. Westmoreland is 1-1 not 0-2. They shutout EL this past week 48-0.
  17. 10-0 is a stretch but I do believe 7-3 or possibly even 8-2 is something that they can accomplish. The passing game is very good and they are sound on defense and make you drive the length of the field without giving up big plays. In high school football turnovers are always a possibility and the more plays you make an opponent run the higher the chances of forcing a turnover. Fairview is an odd team to prepare for defensive wise because on offense they do some unconventional things however it seems to work well for their players and brings excitement to the field on Friday nights.
  18. I just read on CoachT.com where the score to the East Literature vs Westmoreland contest was recorded as a 24-21 win for East Literature. I also read in yesterday's Tennessean and heard the score given on Friday night on 104.5 "The Zone" as a 48-0 win for Westmoreland. One of these scores is correct and the other is not correct. Could someone please give us the correct score as soon as possible? Thanks!
  19. Rankin knows that last year Alcoa did not play well against Loudon after defeating Maryville 41-24 in Week 1. I am sure that he will be addressing that issue this week in practice to ensure he has his team's 100% undivided attention. Alcoa wins 35-7.
  20. Thank You Antwan. That is what everyone should be saying and then leaving it at that period! That mock schedule someone posted earlier is insane. Nobody could play that schedule and go 10-0. That's like an all-star schedule on a weekly basis. I believe that CAK is the only team on the eastern side of the bracket that can even make Alcoa interested in playing a "real" game at this point. Sorry folks but Tyner and Austin East are 0-2 for a reason. Alcoa will be in the state title game once again this year. I look for them to play either Smith County or Goodpasture in that game as well. I don't see either of those teams really competing for 4 quarters with the Tornadoes but they both have the players and the coaching to get past the west-TN teams (Camden, Milan, or Westview) this November in the playoffs. In order to answer the main purpose of this thread though..........Alcoa is above and beyond anyone in 3A!
  21. LA is not coming into this one with a ton of confidence after the Stone Memorial contest. Smith County has won each of their first 2 games this season by 20 points (27-7 & 20-0). Keep in mind that Gordonsville did beat Westmoreland by a 34-0 count (Westmoreland then defeated East Literature 47-0 this past week). Also Cheatham County defeated East Robertson 48-6 this past week. Smith County's defense completely shut down both of those football teams. I look for their impressive start to continue this week. Owls win 35-7!
  22. Crockett County Milan Ripley Covington
