  1. Another example of how good the girls in Tennessee are and especially Middle TN. TN Flight take the championship in both the National and Junior divisions of the Elite Tournament. Here are a couple good reads and a good watch regarding the tourney. http://www.fullcourt.com/bob-corwin/21661/tennessee-flight-captures-title-both-sections-nike-nationals?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter http://m.espn.go.com/wireless/story?storyId=8219519 http://socialcam.com/v/XdSts1I8?autostart=true&fs=twitter&fsk=eiOv7gXU
  2. I don't we will see anyone connected to HoopTown. I would say HT has become pretty insignificant in the HS ranks along with AAU. For a HS player spending time chasing an AAU title has become a thing of the past. The real push now is the search for exposure. HT still maintains the AAU connection for the younger players though. Surprised no one has mentioned Hillary Hodges. Tom back to MTSU to fill Burkey spot and Hillary back to Rdale......just a thought.
  3. Article found on DNJ. http://www.dnj.com/article/20120621/SPORTS08/306210024/Burkey-resigns-from-MTSU-takes-MTCS-girls-hoops-job
  4. Word on the street is Loyola Marymount (CA).
  5. If they are smart they will head up to the 'Boro and talk to Dan Wilkerson at MTCS. Look at his consistent winning and talent level. He also will have a draw from his years of work with TN Pride.....
  6. With the news out of Lipscomb today....... Who will TT 's coach be next year?
  7. Interesting note. The lead official, the one that walked right past the player, announced his retirement the day after this game.
  8. Wow...... I'm following UTalum!! Just about nailed it.
  9. Another point to throw into this brief recap is that Riverdale played without starting point guard Petty the entire game. Riverdale also played Centrals point as a self check... Smart move!
  10. Season MVP probably not gonna come from 6th place team. I would expect Unionville's Leverette or Forrest's Pope. Tourney MVP will come from winning team. Forrest's Pope or MTCS' Farmer or Speers.
  11. So from reading all these posts...... We go from no contact to very little contact to not enough contact to knock a kid down. I'm not surprised by the discontent with the officiating. I have not seen an official this year that can enforce or cares to enforce the "Traveling" violation as it is written.
  12. Interestingly enough this is not the only case like this. I have seen BT Washington boys put up 100+ points several times this year. They have played Power Center, a fellow 16A school, 3 times this year. BTW has won all three. The scores were: 119-19, 131-26, and 149-23.
  13. Congrats to Bashaara Graves selected as a WBCA All American. Shacobia Barbee and Aaliyah Whiteside as Honorable Mentions. Announcement below: http://www.wbca.org/blog/index.cfm/2012/2/8/Top-High-School-Seniors-Selected-to-Play-in-2012-WBCA-High-School-AllAmerica-Game-presented-by-NIKE/

    9-A

Records look like this: Moore Co. 7-0 MTCS. 6-3 Forrest. 5-3 Huntland. 5-3 Cascade. 5-4 Eagleville. 5-4 Community. 1-8 Fayetteville. 0-9
  17. This is the report I heard on the game. Riverdale pressed the first quarter, as they always get so much offense from their press. They backed off the press to start the second quarter. LaVergne actually scored twice against the press in the first, but failed to score in a half court set. Riverdale pulled starters at half. I was also told that Riverdale only made 5 shots outside the paint in the game. Layups and point blank shots the entire game. Slow clock keeping in second qtr and running clock the entire second half.
  18. CoachT scoreboard says 74 - 57. Anybody there have insight on the game?
  19. So looks like no change here....... My opinion good decision. We expect our student athletes to work hard! Don't penalize them or a coach that does also! Wednesday, December 7, 2011 TSSAA Legislative Council Minutes Denied proposals concerning students playing independent basketball with teams and then coaches of independent teams coaching at that school. Proposals were as follows: (1) Student will be ineligible for one calendar year regardless of bona fide change of residence, if they play independent basketball (AAU, etc) with a high school coach and then transfers to the school where that coach (faculty or non-faculty) is coaching. (2) TSSAA basketball coaches (faculty and non-faculty) will be allowed to coach their own players or players from other high schools in independent basketball (AAU, etc.) during the off-season. This applies to rising 9th through 12th graders.
  20. Here is the trick. Find out how many student athletes received zone exemptions to attend OHS for the IB program and have since dropped out of the program yet still attend OHS. Now there is a loophole!
  21. I don't know about compete with the LVs, but about half their team IS being recruited by the LVs. Just check the list on TheSummitt.
  22. Good Call smitty. That is the rule as it is written. That is interesting. I attended 2 games last week. The first a team wore lime green shoe laces and head bands in recognition of a young student in the community that had recently passed away. The second game I attended one team wore pink shoes and head bands calling attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Feb. In the first game the team was allowed to honor their lost peer. In the second the team was told to remove the head bands. I know that in the second game the refrees required the removal of the head bands at the hands of the opposing coach. Should this go into the pile of examples of inconsistant refrees or inconsiderate coaches??
  23. I believe this region plays their games at LaVergne High School.
  24. Should be a great game. Sad that it has to be the final game for one of these 2 great teams. Interesting that it is a rematch of both teams first game of this season. One of the 2 loses for Lawrence County. It was a 17 point game but these two teams have been thru alot during the season and developed and grown. Hope to hear of a great game.
