You must have had a South Central officiating crew. They are really bad at letting the players decide the outcome of the game.

There are 327 public schools playing in 3 classifications in basketball, as well as 60 private schools in 2 classes. There are 295 public schools playing football in 6 classifications and 47 privates in 3 classes. So we have 387 total schools in basketball split into 5 classifications and 342 total schools in football split into 9 classifications. Never felt like this made any sense whatsoever. Many schools play in one classification for the majority of their sports and then a different classification in basketball and baseball. Don't believe it would be that difficult to make the classes/districts/regions the same for all sports, whether it be 3, 4, or 5 classes. This would also drive attendance by creating rivalries(and restoring many that have been split up). The school I support currently has a 2 hour drive(4 round trip) to a current district opponent anyways, so not sure how much worse travel could be. I know the T$$AA will have a plethora of excuses about why they can't do this, but it could be done pretty easily. Ideas that make great sense will be proposed and given lip service, but I would be willing to wager that nothing changes again this cycle.

Your negative comments about all the 11aa teams are hilarious considering you are a McEwen fan. East Hickman is dead last with no wins in 11aa and 2 wins overall. Both of their wins on the season are against your boys from McEwen.

It doesn't matter how badly you want to be good if there is no talent there. Small schools are going to have a few good years when they have some good classes of kids and then they will fall off when there is no talent. CA can bypass this problem to a certain extent because they can attract more than just kids from the local middle school. I have coached and seen some really good and some really bad teams. I can assure you that we worked just as hard or harder when we weren't very good. I just don't buy CA's reasoning for staying in D1. Many of your arguments against the small Maury County schools could be applied to CA trying to avoid playing with ALL OF THE OTHER PRIVATE SCHOOLS. CPA faced the same criticisms for the way their Boys' Basketball program was run. All of those criticisms disappeared when they moved to D1. Why does CA seem so determined to stay D1 if it isn't about having a competitive advantage over their opposition? Don't give me the same old natural rivals bs or the travel costs excuse. Please enlighten us with the truth.

TSSAA website. Enrollment numbers are for last year as that was the last time schools reclassified and almost all of the privates moved to DII. I guess those TSSAA figures are wrong and "The Consultant's" figures are more accurate. Those "natural rivals" have clearly expressed their opinions on maintaining the "rivalry" with CA. Here is how it works for public schools- you turn in enrollment #'s, TSSAA places you in a district(many of which could have schools twice your size within that district), and you play the next 4 years in that district whether you like it or not. Rivalries, travel costs, and equitable enrollment are not a major concern to TSSAA.

Excuses!!! These arguments are reminiscent of the old CPA argument for staying with the publics. Natural rivalries? Are you serious? Extra travel costs? In your own words-go raise some more funds. DII schools much larger? Here are some enrollment figures for you: CA 271, DCA 209, Friendship 211, NCS 213, Clarksville Academy 240. Ezell 154, FRA 266, JCS 236, Zion 127, Goodpasture 311. Joining DII makes no sense for CA from a competitive standpoint. Outside of that, it makes perfect sense to everyone on the outside looking in.

Based on the multiplier for privates, CA is about 6 or 7 students away from being AA. I know they have a good team and would be competitive against AA competition as well. My issue is that they have the ability as a private school to do things that public schools can not do. That is the very definition of an unfair advantage. I also don't see how CA can feel good about beating up on the small schools in Maury County. I only replied to the thread after you started this with the chest beating "Big Bad Dawg" comment. Those other 10a schools certainly have some issues from an athletic standpoint and if I lived in Maury County I would want to do everything to give my child the best athletic opportunities available too. But how many of the players on CA's roster are zoned for those schools and competing against them for CA? Can Culleoka go and bus kids in from Giles or Marshall County or go and influence Santa Fe's best player to attend Culleoka? I don't have anything against CA in general. The people I have interacted with from CA have all shown class and dignity, but I believe they should be playing with other privates. Good luck in the 10a tourney and beyond.

Your last sentence makes my point-CA should be capable of competing against the BGA's, Goodpasture's, and CPA's, so why are they so vehemently opposed to playing other schools who function under the same set of rules as themselves? The entire purpose of the public/private split was to get schools to compete against other schools who play by the same set of rules. I don't have an allegiance to any MC schools, I am just calling it like I see it. Do any of the other schools in 10a bus kids in from other counties?

Congrats to CA on defeating powerhouse district opponents like Santa Fe, Hampshire, Culleoka, etc on an annual basis. You should be very proud of those accomplishments. Those "natural rivals" sent a strong message by doing what they did this season. How about the "Big Bad Dawg" step up and compete with schools like themselves instead of beating up on tiny class A MCSchools? I don't think any of CA's current district opponents are busing kids in from surrounding counties either. Let's just call it what it is-CA likes being the big fish in the small pond. I don't see how that is rewarding at all-kind of like beating up your little brother. Maybe they should call Zion and see how their program is surviving with all of those travel issues. CA is a good school and has some excellent programs, but everyone on the outside would just like to see them compete against similar opponents.

CPA was outstanding last night. Didn't see anybody making inappropriate gestures, but it did look like the kid from CPA thought it was halftime instead of the end of the 1st and was heading for the locker room after knocking down the triple at the buzzer. Coach Maddux has done a really good job with this team-they will be a tough out for anyone. If they get an early lead they are very hard to catch. Camden is much better than they showed last night and CPA had a lot to do with that. Good luck to both teams Monday.

Since the district realignment four years ago 9aa has not been swept. If Heritage wins Tuesday 9aa will have put a team in the championship game twice in 4 years. 10aa is excellent right now and 9aa has been down, but it isn't as one sided as you suggest.

District 11aa tournament is at Hickman County this year.

Page and Spring Hill are now AAA. CPA is now in D1. Cascade is now A. This district will have to be completely revamped with only Giles and Marshall remaining.

It makes perfect sense. The only sport t$$aa cares about is football. There are more basketball teams, but half as many classifications. That is really all you need to know to realize they don't care. Their argument that they could not make the state tourney work with more than 3 classes is a joke. Much has changed in the last 40 years, but apparently Tennessee High School basketball is the same as it was in the late 70's-shortly after girls' basketball became a full court game. Makes sense to me.

Congrats to the Cubs and Coach Stuart on another outstanding season! Best wishes to Austin Douglas as he takes his talents to the collegiate level. He is a tremendous student athlete and I am sure has set a great example for the underclassmen on that team. He will thrive at the next level bc of his work ethic and discipline. Nate Goode and Gage Lipscomb will also be missed and finish their high school careers as 4 time District Champions. These guys are simply winners and success breeds more success. Will the Cubs be as good next year? Maybe not, but most people thought there would be a dropoff last year and they still won 20 games and another 9aa championship. I would not put it past them to repeat again. Good luck to Coach Stuart and the Cubs going forward.

It was a great performance indeed. Austin is a winner and a big time competitor, not to mention a great person and student. It is obvious that he works very hard at his craft, as he possesses a diverse skill set. He can kill you inside or outside and is deadly off the dribble as well. Cheatham will be better this year than many expected. Those kids don't know how to do anything but win and play with a lot of energy and passion. You were right a couple years ago when you said Douglas was the best prospect on a very talented and experienced team. He is the real deal.

This was an outstanding and extremely competitive high school basketball game. Austin Douglas was virtually unstoppable last night for the Cubs. Not sure how many he ended up with, but I would guess it was north of 35. Nate Goode also played very well for Cheatham. Creekwood will be very strong again this year. They have shooters all over the place and a lot of experienced and savvy guys. Only critique of the game would be the officials. I know it is early in the year and they are establishing some new points of emphasis regarding hand checks and arm bars, but please let the kids play. Both teams were in foul trouble from the outset and it is hard to play this game when a foul is called every time there is a tiny amount of contact. Anyways, this game and atmosphere are what high school basketball is all about. It was fantastic! Good luck to both teams this season!

Cheatham lost to East Nashville in 2013 Substate and CPA in 2014 Substate. They have won 4 straight district titles and a region championship in 2013. To be the man you gotta beat the man. Anything can happen, but they are clearly the team to beat in 9aa.

Anyone who thought the split would happen hasn't been paying attention to how the T$$AA operates. They will not allow it to happen strictly due to self preservation from a monetary standpoint. Level playing field and listening to the opinions of the vast majority of constituents is of zero concern to Mr Childress and his cronies. This has been much ado about nothing bc it was never going to happen, but now the organization can further the status quo by saying that they looked into the split thoroughly and voted on it. What a joke! Give the 5A & 6A schools a dose of this mess for a few years and see what happens. The small publics are playing for 2nd in most of the big sports now. I see quotes from a number of representatives of private schools, but none from the few that are causing the uproar. Any word from CPA? They must be too busy scouring the national aau circuit to find their next out of state stud to bring in for hoops to comment.

They didn't play the game. I believe it was accidentally scheduled during mid term exams in Dickson Co and school system asked them to cancel. Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but that is the story I heard. Creekwood is built to make a long postseason run and I would love to see them do it. They are capable of beating anybody in aa.

Not sure where you are getting your info, but everything you stated in this post is false. Coach Stuart isn't going anywhere. They are looking to hire a new boys coach at the middle school-maybe that is what you saw/heard.

Congrats to the Red Hawks and Coach Taylor! Tremendous accomplishment to go unbeaten in regular season-enjoy it for a few days and then gear up for the postseason run. Would love to see this team in Murfreesboro in a few weeks-they could surely make some noise!
