  1. Totally agree with you. They are exhibit one as to why there should be a complete public/ private split.
  2. I believe boys are prohibited from playing club with females at a certain age. I've never seen a boy playing in the 13 age group up.
  3. Summit beat Franklin today 16-4 and 11-2.
  4. It seems that most of the football talk, on the AAA board anyway, is also mostly east TN related.
  5. Ethos and Club West were about equal last year. Mid TN (old RC Juniors) had a few good ones teams. But none of those three clubs did as well overall as Alliance last year. And Alliance did play at a high level. For various reasons there's been a consolidation of talent this year. So it will be interesting to see how that affects this season as far as the Nashville clubs are concerned.
  6. You are correct. He came real close to making the jump back to Williamson County last year. His dad coached the Summit freshmen team as a volunteer this past season. Coach Tom had a VERY successful campaign with the young Spartans. I imagine he will jump to BHS and do the same with the young Bruins. Double loss for SHS.
  7. This is just stunning news. Wayne not only coached my son in football at Summit, but was my neighbor until last year. My son and all the young men Wayne coached at SHS in both football and wrestling are very saddened by this news. RIP Coach Dunn. You will be missed greatly.
  8. He left on his own. His dad is the freshman coach at Summit now.
  9. Brentwood is loaded with great middles. I saw Kaela doing the same thing as you described so I figured it was her you were talking about. The Bruins have three seniors, all great, but they are not going anywhere for a while.
  10. Kaela Massey, she's a junior. Played up in club last year.
  11. The TSSAA will determine team placement in November based on September enrollment figures.
  12. It will be interesting to see what happens with Ravenwood when it's split up in two years.
  13. Saw Indy play Smyrna tonight. I left when the JVs came on the field and I saw lightening on the horizon. Perfect metaphor for what I saw on the field. Indy was up 20-0. Bunch looked strong at QB. The backup is a tall athletic sophomore. The Eagles go 6-7 deep at receiver. I was real impressed with #19/ Huner. Two of the receivers also take turns at RB. Childress is a threat to break it with all that speed. But the every down back is is Pope. He's a strong FB type. But very athletic. The o line has a lot more depth than last year. Still not a lot of size but big enough. Definitely bigger than last year. The defensive line is still small but very aggressive. Their scheme allows their athletic safeties and linebackers to be in on almost every play. They swarm. The corners are talented... Another Stribling taking over for big brother. They have a lot of juniors playing key roles. The Eagles are going to be a tough out for 11AAA opponents.
  14. He was an assistant at BHS a few years ago. Wasn't that an awesome match especially so early in the season? You're absolutely right about both their setters. KK and JM are great. I forgot to mention TS from SHS was also putting holes in the floor. I think BHS didn't have one of their OH's bc of basketball. Could be wrong about that. The Bruins also had a player move in from Clarksville and she looked strong as well. I think that match was an early preview of the last AAA match of the upcoming season.
  15. Summit travels to Warren Co. on Thursday and Riverdale next Tuesday.
  16. A few quick thoughts from three days of watching a lot of volleyball. I didn't see every team play that attended (22 in all). But I did see some good volleyball this early preseason. The two best teams I saw were Brentwood and Siegel. I think the folks at the Fieldhouse are still replacing some boards from the hits provided by BHS's KM and GJ. I think Siegel's only loss was to Brentwood. The loudest match of the weekend was Houston vs. Collierville. I don't know who won as I was on another court but the intensity of that match rang throughout the building. Ravenwood and Centennial were each without a key injured player. Both schools have a freshman as their backup varsity setter. So it was hard to get a feel for how good they can be. Other than KK at Brentwood, the best setters I saw were from St. George's and Blackman. Franklin with their new coach looked good. Hard working cohesive team. It was an overdose of volleyball but I am ready now for the season to start!
  17. Dumb questions about all this...I wasn't closely following high school sports in Tennessee before the current system went into effect. But is this essentially the prior system for classifying teams? If so and if they go back to old system do the new regions apply for all sports or just football?
  18. Ravenwood upsets Brentwood 2-1.
  19. Championship game on Tuesday the 6th at 7:00.
  20. Summit scores three runs in the top of the 7th and gets out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the inning to secure a 5-3 win!
