Have any of those teams outside of the top 4 won a 6A title? I'm not counting Independence since theirs was in 5A.

Call me crazy, but I promise you Pigeon Forge will be close to the top 5 overall before the end of the year and I'll take them to double repeat in A/AA. I'm not sure how the individual tournament will shake out in AAA but my guess would be Bradley Central, Cleveland, and Wilson Central in no particular order. I'll take these teams to qualify for the AAA duals from each region. Region 1 - Science Hill, Dobyns Bennett Region 2 - Halls, Seymour Region 3 - Maryville, Heritage Region 4 - Cleveland, Bradley Central Region 5 - Oakland, Blackman Region 6 - Wilson Central, Rossview Region 7 - Independence, Centennial Region 8 - Arlington, Collierville

If any of y'all been to practice, I'm anxious to see how some of these bigger Sophs (Thacker, Braden, Abdella, etc) look. Are there any Sophomores on the 2 deep standing out yet?

Don't be surprised to see a Freshman or two on both lines.

I know one's that back for Oakland for sure! Coach Harris is a buddy of mine and I saw his Heavyweight at the State Tournament this year. Josh said he was just a Junior and I promise you he is BIG. There aren't many kids his size and built like that. Unfortunately we don't have anybody his stature so I hope he's your only one.

Let me guess, you'll watch it a quarter of the way through and have to head home before the finale. Cough cough, empty case...

Eli King and Trey Chalifoux (Father Ryan) both made All American back in 2015. Still, a heck of an accomplishment.

Does that mean you think MJ would beat all 3A teams?

On a side note, congratulations to former Chattanooga Moc/teammate Bobby Cook on Team Oklahoma's success. Cook has coached Team Oklahoma for a few years now and was a stud transfer from Syracuse back in the late 90's. His arrival (with Bob Hanson and others) started the run for a few of our SoCon Championship teams.

I understand, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. I honestly have no clue and thankfully things worked out for everyone in the end.

How do you know it wasn't addressed? You assume a lot of things.

Wrong, my assertion was based on not pulling them for grades just as LOD pointed out before. If it came across any other way, that wasn't my intent.

He let him go for something more serious than grades and I'm not getting into the specifics of that, doesn't contradict anything I just said.

Rankin wasn't going to pull his Mr. Football winner out in the middle of his season. He sure let him go after the fact, made sure he wasn't going anywhere else though.

We at least beat Oakland last year and multiple times before that. A previous poster is correct in that we had a injury riddled team and the only team (including Oakland) that beat us at full strength last season was Alcoa. What's embarrassing though is your little chicken hawk tail beating your chest over an appearance in the quarterfinals. Seriously, the quarterfinals....

Alcoa would have smoked you guys last year and every year before that over the last 10.

You're not the only parent I've heard say this. One parent I've been friends with for years told me something similar, she knew her son wasn't going to be eligible based on his grade situation and threatened to pull him out of football. Mysteriously weeks later his grades made a big jump and it wasn't from better study habits.

I know of one 3A school that would put a whooping on MJ.

Then they should look inward. This story says it was the school board members bringing up the issue. LOD has been telling everyone that's willing to listen that the past predicts the future. Too bad Nissan isn't in Blount County, right LOD?? Might have some kids from Cookeville locked in to coming if that was the case...

There's a story in the Daily Times about Alcoa's recent student addition(s). Seems some school board folks aren't too happy with Rankin's 'Rithmetic always getting a pass.

Oakland lost alot, we got some size coming in though even if they're young'uns
