  1. Division I went to 6 classes in 2009. Since that time here are the teams who have made it to the state title game: Class Team Count 5A Beech 3 5A Columbia Central 3 5A Farragut 1 5A Hendersonville 1 5A Henry County 3 5A Hillsboro 1 5A Independence 2 5A Knoxville Catholic 1 5A Knoxville Central 2 5A Knoxville West 3 5A Oak Ridge 1 5A Page 2 5A Powell 2 5A Sevier County 1 5A Summit 2 6A Beech 1 6A Brentwood 1 6A Cane Ridge 1 6A Hendersonville 1 6A Maryville 9 6A Oakland 5 6A Ravenwood 3 6A Smyrna 1 6A Summit 1 6A White Station 1 6A Whitehaven 4
  2. Thinking about coming to this one but not if it's going to be Greeneville 20-0 in the 1st quarter. What do you guys honestly think, does U have any type of shot in this one?
  3. Do you think that will ever become a reality? Have not heard anything about it in a couple of years, maybe the covid put a damper on things
  4. Bingo, that is why over the past few years I have adjusted my expectations down to trying to win R1-5A and beating Crockett each season, don't even care about the playoffs anymore because we all know what is going to happen. Hope all you guys have a good & safe rest of the year, we can pick back up on this thread in August 2024 because we all already know how next season is going to end for Tri 5A/6A
  5. Boone has a lot of good things going but just can't seem to put it all together in the same season, or when they do like last year you have a Knox West team that could play with the Vols. Our coaches are good guys and like I said earlier a lot of what we Tri fans do is take out our frustrations on the T here that we can't ever get past Knox County. The other Tri teams generally have good pieces & parts too but as you stated they don't have the whole package like Eliz & Greeneville
  6. Is this York team for real? Pardon my incredulity but is it really 50?
  7. A little razzle-dazzle by both teams. Hey, ya do what works, huh?
  8. Clinton finishes the season < .500, pretty impressive by the Dragons to be here and leading by 14
  9. former - 99% of us on the T have never been a HS football coach and probably we just come on here to air our frustrations that we can't ever get past Knoxville. I know that our Tri coaches and guys are putting in the work so that's not being questioned. Like you say it takes all the pieces to be in place, administration, superior DNA, etc. plus everything else to build championship teams. Win or lose I will always love HS football. If you think about it most areas of Tennessee could have a thread like this, because year in and year out it seems to be team from the Knox or Nashville area that makes it.
  10. The paradox is that we could use the rain, been a dry fall. As of 12pm EST it's 86% chance of rain in Knoxville during the game. I'm sure that will change as we get closer
  11. How many of the players keep in good condition year round by playing other sports? Football is not a track meet, nor is it a weightlifting contest. But those conditioning parts will make you a better player in my opinion.
  12. If you can believe the forecast it's going to be a cold wet night. Does that favor either team or does it not matter?
  13. Don't worry about next year, just enjoy your moment right now of having the possibility for your team to go all the way in 6A. Let's be honest, there are not many 6A dynasties so 2023 may be your only shot. 95% of HS's in Tennessee will NEVER be in your position of having the perfect storm of super athletes, coaching, fan support, etc. coalescing at the same point. Best of luck from the Tri-cities
  14. Schrödinger once got pulled over for speeding. Officer asked to see license & registration, then asked if it was okay to look around. Schrödinger stepped outside the vehicle and obliged the officer. Presently he heard from the back of the car, "Sir, did you know there is a dead cat in in your trunk??" "Well," huffed Schrödinger, "I do now...."
  15. How does Anderson County travel, you guys expecting the visitor side to be full? Thinking about driving down to this one.....
  16. From the visitor side the view of the mountain in the background is amazing
  17. In 2015 Coffee Co came up here to Johnson City to take on Science Hill. What was their QB's name? He was one of the all-time toughest football players I have ever watched. The kid seemed to thrive on contact even though he was just average size. On a run play he thought nothing of plowing into 3 tacklers instead of just going down. I was very impressed and it goes to show that toughness comes in different sized packages
  18. Lots of us can feel your pain on this..... You would literally not believe how many times Boone has kicked directly to a guy who we all knew was going to burn us. I remember once a few years ago at Science Hill, our 1st 2 kickoffs went to a SH guy who ran the first one back for a TD and ran the next one to inside the 20. On our 3rd kickoff the Boone fans were standing, stomping the bleachers and SCREAMING "K I C K I T O U T O F B O U N D S , D O N O T K I C K T O # ..." It was right before halftime, want to guess who we kicked it directly to yet a 3RD TIME?!?!?! I just do not understand why there is some shame or whatever in giving the other team the ball @ the 35 vs. giving up 6.
  19. Defense keeps the other team from winning, but your point is taken
  20. And so starts yet another round of the ole "It's nearly impossible to beat a good team twice in the same season" debate.........
  21. When was the last time a team with a losing record made it to the title game?
  22. Clinton finishes the season 4-6 and is still alive in the 3rd round, that's impressive
