  1. Evidently clear to me that Covington is still clear cut #1 favorite, I'm curious to see how Westview's offense pans out in Neal's first year. If it goes well, they'll win games based off outscoring teams. South Gibson and McNairy Central still have question marks (I think MCHS has more question marks than SGC (I think I know what I'm expecting out of the Hornets)). Bolivar is a mess, and Milan will probably go .500 this year. As much time the Bulldogs were able to put in compared to other teams, I just don't think they can beat some teams on their schedule).
  2. Again, good things happen when you throw the ball downfield. Something neither team did in the first half. Peabody has now done that in the second half, and I'm still waiting for this Milan team to do that.
  3. Good things happen when you throw the ball downfield.
  4. No, if I'm correct, he's kicking for the University of Memphis now.
  5. If I’m not mistaken, Munford ran the triple option or something similar to that last year.
  6. Three weeks of contact with no spring ball, no 7-on-7's, and no preseason scrimmages is a recipe I call, Players aren't Ready.
  7. If the TSSAA were to follow their original plan and start the season on September 18, then I would say yes that we could potentially finish a season. Saying that, I believe that playing games in August, is a huge mistake. Everyone wants instant reaction. I guarantee you that teams would be playing tomorrow if they could. I know that Shelby and Davidson Counties are coming out and say no football until September, but there are going to be tons of school districts that will rush and potentially screw things up. That's my worst fear. In addition, the players aren't ready either, they just aren't. I know the Milan and Peabody game has a lot at stake, especially if the current status of what's going on at both programs. But both of schools are a "football first" school and will play that game. I can't think of anything to persuade both programs to not play. Personally, we should be going with the college route and play a "shorter season" (7-8 games). But, people are apparently starving so much for football that they're going to play and potentially screw this up.
  8. “Got that college feel to it”?? I know what you’re saying, but if these teams are going to play on the 21st, be prepared for sloppy ball.
  9. Y’all are fools if you think we can have a game on August 20/21. Not throwing a personal shot at you, but there’s no way.
  10. Yeah but Milan’s coaching staff haven’t had a full practice (or maybe). Peabody coaching staff has been in-tact for 3-5 years now.
  11. It's okay, you can chill just a little bit with the two words that were in all caps. It's okay if Kevin hired one of his buddies! But how many times did Greenfield make it to Murfreesboro before Chloe and Tess? And if so, what year(s) was that in? I'm not saying that Willie isn't a "good or great coach" but I am saying that he had the luxury of having arguably the best "duo" in state history when it comes to Mrs. Basketball finalist/awards, P/A/R numbers, and wins. He didn't have to actually "coach" on occasional nights when Chloe and Tess played. It's not a knock on Willie, and I didn't mean to cause any harm to him specifically. But his stock is at an all-time high, no one can't deny that. If Greenfield host a sub-state game in March of 2021, then he is a great coach, there's no doubt. Unfortunately, I won't get to experience that. It's okay to disagree.
  12. Might get a lot of heat for saying this, but I'm going to say it anyway. But it's sad to basically come out and say that Chloe and Tess got him that job.
  13. I'll be glad to give you my 0.02 on how I would operate a baseball team. First, I would get in the weight room as much as possible, and limit hitting (not throwing). If you have an instagram account, there are tons of workouts that you can do to the players. I think the weight room is a necessity that many teams aren't really committed to. It's a "pro" to a player that might want to lose/gain weight and be able to throw harder (pitchers use lower half of body) and hitters increasing bat speed and hit the ball even further. However, that's based on facilities and access to weight rooms. Secondly, I would like to throw softballs when it comes to throwing. It's a heavier ball that's not a "weighted ball" but it also gets the players' hands to wrap around the ball. That's something that's different because a lot of teams would use baseballs and long distance. Throw 2-3 times a week, and let them throw with baseball in one of those days per week. You have to mix things up and make it fun to the players. If players aren't playing summer ball, then they're not playing a game from May-February (8/9 months). Baseball has obviously a long offseason. I'll be honest, I wouldn't focus much on hitting really til December, and start throwing bullpens in November with 15-20 Max pens. January will be 30, and February will be 45-50 max bullpens. Everybody is different, every coach is different. Some love to get in the weight room in July (at my school we don't start til after Labor Day). Let the players play football (they play for the school) and golf (fun sport to play). If your offseason is boring, then players will miss Friday's and go home. I hope this helps!
  14. Here's a thing, you can't force players to wear a mask (against the rules) and you can't force the players to wear a special visor that covers the whole facemask (it'll fog up if it rains). So, forget them wearing a mask incase you're thinking of a special way for that to occur. Also, the TSSAA knows that the Governor has the final say. Therefore, I don't really see them having to come out with anything today. They don't have to in a way. We all want "instant result/satisfaction" and we didn't get it. Now, we're not happy with the TSSAA because we didn't get "instant satisfaction." Either way, the season is tentatively scheduled to start on September, 18 if there was good feedback.
  15. And to be honest, it’s one of the best non-district games in the state. Both teams and their fans aren’t complaining due to the fact that a 4 and a 5A teams are playing.
  16. That's my point. Can't sit here and bash Childress when he has over 300 schools to worry about. Give him a fair chance, he's done fine handling this situation, and I thought he did a great job handling the state tournaments back in March.
  17. He's doing the best he could. He didn't automatically shut down the state tournaments in basketball, he "postponed" them in order to give the players, coaches, and fans of the remaining teams a hopeful chance. Regarding to football, I think everybody (for the most part) wasn't expecting the state of emergency to be extended until late August. He's basically doing the best thing he could do in a short amount of time, so you have to give him props for that.
  18. I know this is going to sound weird, but there's no reason why basketball is like 4 months long. Basketball could defiantly play 3 games a week (Tuesday, Thursday,Saturday) or have a back to back on Monday/Tuesday, or Thursday/Friday). Also the playoffs are ridiculous, too, due to the fact that you can lose a championship game, and still advance.
  19. I think we have the same concept regarding to making sure we can get the whole schedule in. However, Having the semifinals and the state championship games being played the day after Christmas, and on New Years Eve/Day, would be a stretch for schools to go in. I wouldn't mind finding a way to play the playoffs in January, and give teams a little 2-3 week break during the holidays. Unfortunately, someone isn't going to be happy regardless of what proposal comes out.
  20. I know one thing in Memphis that they have informed schools regarding to games that'll effect schools. That is confirmed. I'm not going to release that info because of panic. Personally, I don't see how we can return by Aug 21. I just don't.
  21. You're spot on. Last year, this team was a Quarterfinal team. However, the previous two years they were one-and-done in the playoffs. As what Donovan Stewart mentioned, the Tigers were #9 in the decade review for 4A, but they also went 5-9 (worst winning percentage of the top 15 teams) in the playoffs. With that being said, postseason success isn't likable in Savannah. Talent wise, this team (to me) is a no brainer to play on Black Friday, with a probably match-up in Brownsville. That'll be great for West Tennessee in 4A, where everyone needs to do better in November. I'll even go further, a #2 seed in this district will not be acceptable because everyone doesn't stack up with Hardin County, talent wise.
  22. Congrats to him, I knew he was probably wanting to stay home. I thought Stanford was the best for him! This definitely will boost his Mr. Football odds.
