  1. Probably the favorite. Oakland will be missing a few players this week
  2. I've always believed in rivalry games teams should wear their home colors to highlight the importance. Maybe the TSSAA can allow teams 1 game each year where they can do that
  3. GH is a really young team which is probably a year ahead of where most people would thought they'd be, they don't have a long track record. MJ does, but they have some decent wins on their schedule, a dominant win at Cookeville, Antioch which got their only points late in the game and a Franklin team that you can probably draw some parallels to Blackman. Not a huge leap to say that they can beat this Oakland team, which won't have its full set of skill guys when they face off. Not saying it will happen, but it's the best chance Wilson Co. teams have had up to this point
  4. By my count, only 60% of the schools playing on Thursday night have played on Thursday so far. Then the number of home teams that have already played on Thursday isn't small, so they chose to schedule it this way. Games like Oakland-Riverdale, GH-MJ, Betsy-Greeneville, Upperman-DeKalb, Pearl-Marshall Co. or Riverside-Milan aren't going to suffer just bc a game is on Halloween. Allows fans to see teams other than their own for once, especially fans of smaller schools that don't get to see FBS level talent all that much. Honestly wouldnt be mad if TSSAA did this on purpose 1-2 times each season where a week is packed with games on Thursday that people want to see
  5. Your not wrong, they have always had skill guys. This year they can adapt to whatever style of play. We'll see how they fare playing 2 big games in a row with Brentwood, but I like their chances. Their potential matchup with Collierville in the semis would be an amazing game
  6. It's not sandbagging if it's true. I don't make a habit of picking against Oakland but not gonna ignore the weaknesses that are there
  7. Last years team wasn't snakebit with injuries and the defense was a little bit better. MJ/GH is good enough to beat Oakland in the 2nd round, much less whoever they'd potentially face in the quarterfinals
  8. It may have to wait a year or 2. Not sure Oakland has the line play to get to the semifinals this year
  9. One of the rare times I'll disagree with you, although I do think the days of them stringing multiple titles in a row is probably over. Easy to feel down after losing to Alcoa but there isnt a great team on the East side of the bracket, the team that gets hot will be going to be Chattanooga and from there anything can happen. They do miss Jim Gaylor though. Having him as DC was almost a cheat code
  10. I've found its a good response to get rid of a certain ignorant troll
  11. More money, probably a lighter class load and a recommendation from Gary Rankin when you want to be a HC again makes it pretty hard to turn down
  12. I mean upsets happen. That was a really good Lebanon team that year. Riverdale wasn't on this level in 2022. Shocker, great team that throws a good deal is good at protecting their QB. 24 pts is 2nd fewest Ravenwood has scored in regulation this year. Yeah they gave up some big plays, but Oakland wouldnt face another team until Chattanooga that has that many weapons. If atrocious = 24 pts./regulation, every team in the state would take that. Offense scored 10 pts the last 3.5 quarters
  13. Considering the amount of weapons Ravenwood has, I thought holding them to 24 points in regulation is a job well done. They got a stop allowing the offense to begin a possession at midfield up 3 with 10 minutes to go. Offense has to finish Not sure what typical Kriesky is, but Beech is a really good team. Just last year Riverdale beat Oakland down 17
  14. Your not wrong, Oakland has a good number of skill guys that can be impactful on both sides of the ball. Injuries and Mowl's transfer to BA have def. affected them in the trenches
  15. Well Oakland has a few as well. Crazy to think how many titles Gaddis might have had if he had better luck in the playoffs
  16. Looks like your the smartest one of the bunch, always the right answer. Week of The BoB, I always think about LOD, he would have loved to see last years matchup and this upcoming one
  17. Your all welcomed to the Oakland bandwagon, plenty of room, just bring us some Big Ed's Pizza
  18. Oakland isn't unbeatable by any means for Maryville and it's not a given they even make it to the semifinals, or the quarterfinals. Maryville will win a title in the next 3 years with the QB that they have
  19. MC beating Shelbyville earlier in the year certainly makes one believe they're capable of winning this game. That said, I'm taking Pearl, they consistently schedule up for games like this, I think they'll pull away late
  20. Then your best need to be playing defense and coach up the offense. Given the system he likes to run, he should have had guys going one way the second he got there. It won't be easy and it'll take time but there will be a definite glass ceiling on what they can achieve every year if he has half his starters playing 80+ snaps a game
  21. As a neutral observer, I'd trust a random stranger on the street to pick a game more than I would with Packer
  22. Decent chance that's a common theme until Tygard commits to playing guys one way. With how fast and big kids are today, it's just a different animal going both ways unless you have a special player
