  1. Was the Heritage game week 4 in 2000?
  2. D-2 should play Thanksgiving weekend or on Thursday before if we keep 3 classes in D-2 and 6 classes in D-1. Some D-2 have a bye the first week of the playoffs. Essentially they only play 3 weeks of the 5 weeks in the current playoff system (I think I'm right on this), so they get the benefit of having 2 weeks to prepare for a championship game and the 6 TEAMS THAT PLAY ON DAY 1 HAVE 1 LESS DAY TO PREPARE THAN THEY NORMALLY DO. Another possible scenario. 1. Week 1 is on August 24 (2018), 2. Week 10 is on Oct. 26, 10 straight weeks no open date, 3. NO PLAYOFF GAMES UNTIL NOV 9, here is the open date but it only affects the playoff teams, 4. Blue Cross Championship games on Dec. 6,7,8.
  3. Guys, this has been going on for years. Went on in Knoxville in the 90's and early 2000's.
  4. If the house does not have to be vacant, here is a hypothetical situation cbg: Family owns a house in 7 different school zones within the same school system. They pay a mortgage/rent, electric, water, phone bill for all 7 houses. There are multiple high school age children included in this family. Which school zone do they use? Can they have kids in more than 1 of the school zones, not magnet schools either? Has nothing to do with condo on the beach, ranch in Montana, home in Germantown because those are 3 different locations and PROBABLY 3 different states...unless there is a Germantown, Montana and there are beaches in the Germantown, Montana area.
  5. Can't you put your house up for sale for 2x-3x regular price and "rent a house/apartment in another school zone, and provide elec. bill/water bill for new house/apartment, and still occupy your original house? This was a common practice in the 90's-early 2000's in Knoxville, particularly if you owned a big...oh, I'll stop right there.
  6. NE by 14. I have seen video on both teams and think the Eagles will win if they can avoid penalties and turnovers. But that is usually the case, isn't it?
  7. Guess now I will be accused of turning in Powell HS in N. Knoxville for their violation and subsequent loss of 6 games.
  8. The most truthful statement thus far. 931Truth, I will be at that nasty restaurant Friday morning probably 8 am, eating breakfast and watching ESPN. Come by and we will call whomever you say that I reported NEHS to and ask that person directly if I reported anything illegal against CHS or NEHS. Then we both can hear the answer. I'll buy you a sausage biscuit and 1/2 cut from McDonald's, the same as I'll be having. Would have sent this sooner but was in St. Louis visiting my sister-in-law.
  9. 931truth, Let's get some facts correct: 1. Gary Shephard, not Shepherd. 2. I did not call and report CHS in 2015. I didn't even know the player in question until I was told on the practice field on Friday during fall break. And the person that told me was a NEHS player, in fact a senior player in 2015, 3. Did not turn in NEHS this year, had no clue what was happening at NEHS until late last Thursday evening, when I got a call asking about a specific transfer rule question, 4. Why would TSSAA listen to someone that was not a coach or administrator of any school system in this state. 5. I believe the correct procedure is for a coach, AD, Principal or system AD to contact TSSAA, either by US postal service or email, stating SPECIFIC FACTS about an alleged rules violation. 6. THERE HAS BEEN NO RULING, that I am aware of, and the current time is 3:32pm, CDST. I do believe you will keep your identity a secret. Do you really think our steaks are overpriced? We haven't had a price increase on any food items in over 5 years? 931 truth is not telling the truth. Through August 31 we have sold 8.954 steaks of various sizes and styles. Pretty good considering they are nasty and overpriced! 4:11pm, CDST
  10. Haven't received my morning paper but did read about this in the Leaf yesterday and was told there was an article in today's paper. If what I read yesterday was accurate, why are you filing a hardship appeal with TSSAA when the TSSAA has not handed down their decision? I must be missing something!!! Don't think they left any doubt Friday night by winning 64-6.
  11. Only 2 region games have been played. They still have West Creek (tonight), CHS, NWHS, HCHS to play in the region and a non region game, East Nashville.
  12. Been nothing in the Leaf Chronicle about any of this. Nowadays, not much in the Leaf about local sports at all. The Sunday paper will have an article and brief tidbits about Friday night games. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
  13. I like this idea EXCEPT put privates with privates. When I made my comment, I said if we have to have 6 classes. Someone else says, 4 public and 2 private. That would be 75 +/- for each class in D-I and D-II would only have 25 +/- for each class. TOO FEW FOR 2 CLASSES in D-II. 4 classes for public and 1 for private. RUMORS ALL AROUND!
  14. Simple process: 1. If we HAVE TO HAVE 6 classes in D-I, take total # of schools and divide by 6. Odd numbers, start with an additional team in 6a, 5a, 4a, until every team is accounted for. 2. D-II, 2 classes, divide equally. NO DECIDING TO MOVE UP!! IF YOU ARE A PRIVATE SCHOOL - YOU GO D-II, E.O.D
  15. Here I go...HOPE CHS RUNS THE TABLE for the next 6 weeks! If they can rebound from Sept 14 and get the big OL and a very talented #3 back, they should give their remaining opponents fits. Key words -> rebound (which I think they will), should (which I think they will). Now I'll wait until Oct. 26 before I chime in.
  16. This isn't beating your chest? C'mon Rock.
  17. Pilgrim, I have been a Wildcat fan for over 60 years and for only 3 years did I want them to lose a single game, the rest of the time I wanted 10-0. My advice would be simply this...wait until the final horn has sounded and the scoreboard shows more points for CHS than it does for whomever the opponent may happen to be and before pounding that chest and crowing like a rooster. I remember a story about an alligator and a parakeet and this is one of those times where it is relevant. Hope CHS goes 9-1 and has home field for 1st round of the playoffs, after that don't really care who wins or loses.
  18. If a parent or parents move into Alcoa's zone, why would he not be eligible? If they called Alcoa, bet they talked with HC and AD prior to moving and bet AD checked with TSSAA before everything went down. Happened back years ago with QB from Campbell Co and his Dad was the HC in football and baseball at CCHS. Parents got "legal separation", kid moved into apartment in ACHS zone with his Dad and played his senior year at ACHS. Think his Dad got fired as the HC by CCHS admin and that prompted the move. After season ended and player signed football scholarship, Mom and Dad had a change of heart and resumed their marriage.
  19. Nothing posted from April 26 until September 11 (8 hours ago). What has happened that has caused these most recent posts? I know they are 1-2 with a number of players that have been injured, but this can't be blamed on the head coach unless he is not following contact limitations set forth by TSSAA. Good luck this week to the Red Devil fans, players and coaches.
  20. I saw Coach Moore go onstage with David McWilliams, Univ. of Texas coach, and talk for 30 minutes about 7 tech DE play vs. a TE. Old TACA clinic close to the airport probably 1980ish. Great Coach, great person. He may be gone, but his legacy will remain forever. RIP Coach Herschel Moore
  21. Wildcats looked good in jamboree vs. Christian Co. but I don't know much about CCHS. Good luck to the 'Cats.
  22. Bermuda...what team/sport used the field from the 2nd week of November until 1st week spring sports, Boys soccer, could play on it in March?
  23. Hope the press box will be ready by then. The field, who knows.
  24. LOD, Ft. Campbell has their own school system, pretty sure that is what you are talking about. Don't think CMCSS gets MAJOR FUNDING from the federal government. And FCHS has the only synthetic surface around, other than Austin Peay.
  25. Thought this thread was abound football starting too early in August. Georgia starts the same time we do, August 17, unless some choose to play on Thursday the 16th. BUT, they play their state championship games the week after Tennessee does. Now how and why do they do that. They have 12 regular season weeks to play 10 games. The start with their state championship games and count backwards, just like Tennessee does. THEY CAN'T PLAY THEIR CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES THE SAME WEEK AS TENNESSEE DOES, BECAUSE OF THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IN THE DOME. Check it out.
