  1. Woulda coulda shoulda it’s not Xbox.
  2. Our Rhea County crowd and support is disappointing. There is no cheer or enthusiasm. Crowd size for Fulton game was the lowest of the year with gorgeous fall football weather in the low 50s. I just think it is a trend overall everywhere. The town doesn't shut down as in years' past. People have other plans. Kids have moved on and parents that were once at every game - don't support. Former players rarely show up. ---Let's put it this way - No one will be expanding stadiums anytime soon.
  3. I am wondering if a lucky team kept getting forfeits and made it to the 'ship without playing a playoff game. That would be funny.
  4. IN a dream scenario - just me thinking out loud with no connection to either program - I wish Rhea County could drop the Marion Co. game in Jasper on Oct. 30th and let South Pittsburg and Marion Co. play on Halloween - what a hoot that would be. Maybe then Rhea Co. could pick up another road game. Rhea Co. pounded Marion last year and it really is a big difference in number of players and classification. Just my two cents.
  5. I think the record books should not reflect forfeits. A team should not claim a win. It's already been a weird year. It should just go down as a cancelled game.
  6. Haven't had a winning season since 2012.
  7. I counted 17 games from this past weekend in the state of Tennessee that were "COVID-19 forfeits". Whatever that is. ----I hope that is the case as a precaution, and programs that don't want to travel long distances cancel in the name of sickness. Hopefully, everyone realizes how much the love of football plays into this. Keep playing!
  8. My hats off to the Ref crew - very few penalties on both sides - and game appeared to move along quickly. Just a great atmosphere. Would not look forward to a rematch with WV in the playoffs. A really good sound team. Just had some special team breakdowns and some secondary issues. Best 1-2 team in the state.
  9. Rhea County had a game dropped from the schedule with Tuscola (NC) when that state went to a spring schedule. Hats off to Jefferson County to be willing to put a game together for the young men and the school. We can't take it for granted the season will be completed.
  10. We owe Oak Ridge for the 42-0 thumping in the playoffs last year. I would love to see them come to our place. Just happy to have a home game in the 1st round. 2nd round games will be tough ones, if any team from our regions gets that far.
  11. That was a ball control clinic with a few passes thrown in. No turnover for the Eagles with excellent snaps and handoffs. Huge Win for any doubters. Red Bank will be a tough place to play.
  12. Rhea Co. has been excellent with the hand-offs and ball security, keeping miscues and fumbles to a minimum. I can recall an INT in the first game and to my knowledge have not turned it over since. Keep it Up Eagles!
  13. I'm going to go with the refs on this one. It's who they decide that wins - right?
  14. W Valley giving up 49.5 pts a game. They really haven't stopped anyone in a long time.
  15. Holding calls on sweeps will be a tell-tale sign for the season.
  16. I'm just assuming that TSSAA rules and guidelines are followed playing someone out of state, and then North Carolina rules on a follow-up trip next year. (Overtimes could be different) Wasn't sure how it played out with Indianapolis Cathedral.
  17. I only spoke with someone at the game - but Red Bank has speed. Hard to duplicate in practice. I suppose SDHS will bounce back.
  18. I attend at least 10 games a year, seeing different teams in different stadiums. I see kids huddled up on the grass bank or hanging out on the track. They don't care about the game, and most couldn't tell you the score at the end. Parents drop off kids, so they don't stay. It seems like a waste of $8 to me, but at least the school makes that. Concessions are great, so can't put any blame there. Some come for the band. I get it. I would guess for the most part it is the lack of rivalries. Putting four or five teams in a region and then everyone scrambling to fill out a 10 game schedule is tough. Those five or six non-region games are three + hour drives for everyone. I traveled over 1,000 miles to see football last year, but frankly if the weather is crappy, more than likely I'm staying at home.
  19. What gets me is how the amount of former players attending is really down. Usually there is a great support in this capacity. I hope the season can be salvaged at SD.
  20. If you want to see some home cookin' - come to Athens this Friday night. Unbelievable calls on the field. Absolutely the worst snow job in the history of sports.
  21. I lost track of how many times Eagles runners walked into the end zone untouched. The Bradley talent must be going to the other schools. Talented band, tho.
  22. Rhea was able to move the ball last year. Cleveland just flat out has speed. Could come down to special teams.
