  1. Live in Columbia, TN. Usually go to a lot of games during the season. Obviously this year, I'm just watching games online.
  2. My current top 10. (This is based on results to this point in the season) 1. Upperman - really good, really experienced, one of the favorites to win state 1. Macon Co - really good, really experienced, one of the favorites to win state 3. Jackson South Side - schedule has been a little softer than usual (prob due to COVID) but should finish the regular season undefeated; Currie-Jelks is the real deal 4. Grainger - only losses to Stone Memorial and Oakland, need to avoid Northview Acad in sectional game 5. Northview Academy - only loss to Bearden, need to avoid Grainger in sectional game 6. Westview - always solid, schedule has been weak this year, Harrison is the real deal 7. McMinn Central - young, talented; Alcoa loss was a little surprising 8. Covington - always tough, physical; no bad losses; Fayette-Ware could challenge them in region 9. Creekwood - fundamental, can shoot the 3 ball, could be the year they make state tournament especially if Nashville Metro continues to opt out 10. Livingston Academy - tough district, all 4 losses are to good teams, can't see them getting out of region due to Macon and Upperman Next up (no particular order): Meigs Co, Westmoreland, York Institute, Stewart Co, Fayette-Ware
  3. My current top 10. (This is based on results to this point in the season) 1. McKenzie - their win at Gibson (really tough place to win) puts them in this spot; only loss was close to AAA Dyer Co 2. Gibson Co - several quality wins; only loss to McKenzie; lot of talent with arguably the best coach in the state 3. Loretto - they have the best player in A, only losses to Lebanon and Upperman 4. Clarkrange - the favorite to win state; they've got a nice win over Cookeville and several close losses to top notch teams 5. Summertown - experienced; no bad losses but no great wins this year either 6. Peabody - dangerous with their speed and defense, well coached 7. North Greene - best team in the East after beating Cloudland last week 8. Houston Co - great record; nice win over Jo Byrns but otherwise not much on their schedule so far 9. Van Buren Co - great record but weak schedule 10. Gleason - solid team; well coached; hard to explain the loss to West Carroll Others to watch in no particular order: Pickett Co, Union City, Clay Co, Cloudland, Whitwell, Tellico Plains, Greenfield
  4. There’s a few interesting games tonight Cloudland at North Greene Pickett Co @ Clay Co Houston Co @ Jo Byrns All the other contenders should win big
  5. I heard they cut pay by $20 a night (boys/girls doubleheader). Maybe somebody can confirm. Rock and a hard place. Lots of programs are struggling financially with a big decrease in revenue. But taking money from officials, which are always in short supply, seems short sighted. TSSAA should not be taking any cuts of Hall of Fame gates or playoff gates this year to help schools. That would help some. Tough spot for everybody involved
  6. Loretto is really good. It helps when you have the best player on the floor in every game you play. The top 4 in A are Clarkrange, Loretto, Gibson County, Summertown. No way to determine the order to rank them at this point.
  7. Summertown has played a really strong schedule, but you could definitely make an argument for Clarkrange. Clarkrange has played Macon County, Cookeville, Stone Memorial, White County, and the Webb School. Both teams should be in the mix at the end of the year
  8. Disagree. Their talent is down compared to the last couple years. They also added several new players in a year with minimal summer and preseason practice. Wilkins is a good coach that Huntingdon is lucky to have
  9. The win over Stewarts Creek bodes well for Coffee County. I wasn't sure if they would be able to handle the athleticism of the Murfreesboro schools. This could be the year they break through and make the state tournament
  10. I think you can narrow down possible state tournament teams pretty significantly at this point. Obviously injuries or quarantines could alter this a bit, but assuming healthy teams it likely breaks down as follows: West: Two of Union City, Greenfield, or Gibson County Middle/West: Two of McKenzie, Loretto, or Summertown Middle/East: Clarkrange, Pickett Far East: Two of North Greene, Cloudland, or Cosby
  11. Churches are not included in the order. https://www.wrcbtv.com/story/43084585/tn-gov-lee-signing-order-limiting-indoor-public-gatherings-to-10-people-other-measures The actual order is in the article and can be read
  12. I just read the order. The 10 person limit does not apply to sporting events. Allows for administrators, officials, media, coaches, players and parents (guardians, immediate family). According to Kreager, TSSAA will likely provide further guidance in the next couple days. I don’t care what they do as long as the kids get to play
  13. This season has been crazy and will likely continue to be crazy. I think COVID is going to cause some district and region tournaments to be more open than normal. Who's healthy? Who's quarantined? Who hasn't played in a couple weeks? All those questions are going to make for interesting scenarios. McKenzie's win at Gibson means McKenzie has to be mentioned with the top teams in A. For me that list is Clarkrange, Gibson, Loretto, Summertown, McKenzie. Several other good teams that could end up in Murfreesboro: Pickett, Greenfield, Peabody, Cloudland, North Greene, Cosby and probably several others I'm forgetting right now. Side Note: Clarkrange and Summertown upcoming schedules are impressive. Clarkrange has Stone Memorial and White County this weekend. Summertown has Oakland, Lebanon, and Brentwood Academy coming up. Good job by their coaches playing some big school competition before going in to district play.
  14. I heard Shelbyville was in quarantine
  15. I'd be surprised if any of these games tonight are won by less than 30
  16. Croppy, it doesnt look like Huntingdon has played since November. They get quarantined?
  17. I expect Cloudland and North Greene to represent East TN at the state tournament this year. There may or may not be a couple teams that can challenge them. Hard to say this early. As far as being in the final four, that will all depend on first round matchups from the blind draw. If Cloudland draws Clarkrange in the first round, then Cloudland will not be in the final four.
  18. @pioneer42 Did you go to the Gibson/Greenfield game last night? Was the game as close as the final score?
  19. Man... I was way off. TCA wins by 15 at home. Greenfield over USJ is a nice win. McKenzie struggling surprised me. Gibson game was closer than I expected but Madison Hart dropping 40 is IMPRESSIVE!! Statement game from a potential Miss Basketball. Summertown winning that big surprised me. I thought their complete lack of practice would cause problems.
  20. Huntingdon/TCA should be really good. I like TCA to pull it out at home. Hardin wins at home by double digits. USJ wins a close game with Greenfield. Gibson will not be challenged by Creekwood. GC by 20+. McKenzie should beat Lexington with JV playing the 4th quarter. Summertown/Eagleville could be interesting. Normally, I would say Summertown by 20+ but they have not practiced in two weeks so game will likely be ugly and close.
  21. Going to be an interesting start to the season for Summertown and Loretto. Summertown went to remote learning 11/2 - 11/16. Due to terrible school district policy, they are not allowed to practice when on remote learning. They will have practiced one time when they open with Eagleville next week. They play Huntingdon later in the week after a couple practice days. Loretto is now on remote learning and will stay that way through Thanksgiving Break. They practiced for about a week before going to remote but are not able to practice now. They will have to cancel Hall of Fame games, but hopefully will be allowed to play their Thanksgiving classic games. Both teams are going to be very good this year but may struggle early.
  22. Boys should cruise to state tournament most years with this setup. I don't see much there to challenge the girls either. Maplewood girls have been better recently but they're not on South Side's level. I'm not sure that South Side's boys or girls get challenged much on the way to Murfreesboro
  23. I know this a girls basketball board, but Memphis having three districts also impacts baseball and softball. To stay with your analogy, it will be the equivalent of allowing high school teams to play in the College World Series. A couple of four team districts across the state would definitely be preferable to this setup.
  24. I am very interested to see how much these tentative districts change in the next couple weeks. My thoughts after initially looking through the splits: A - Districts 7, 9 and 13 are the strongest districts in this class and all three of these will face weak districts in the region tournament - the top 10-12 teams in this class will be very good and the dropoff from there is going to be huge. AA - Memphis getting three districts is terrible for girls basketball. Regions 7 and 8 will put 2 average or worse teams in the state tournament every year. (Side Note: Memphis getting three districts is even worse for baseball and softball; I'm really shocked TSSAA went this route) Only 2 of Westview, Gibson, Union City, Huntingdon, Summertown, Loretto, Cheatham can make a state tournament in a given year. Regions 3 and 4 are great set ups for Westmoreland and East Nashville to make multiple trips to Murfreesboro (unless Jackson Co can turn it around). Meigs, South Greene and McMinn Central will run the East AAA - DISTRICT 7!! WOW!! This district makes sense geographically and is loaded. Their region will be a lot of travel, especially if Lawrence Co hosts a region tournament. Lawrence Co should ask to be placed in District 11 based on geography. Jackson South Side is going to a lot of state tournaments with this layout. Dyersburg and Dyer County twice a year will be a lot of fun. AAAA - District 4 is still stout. District 6 is terrible - 4 teams with only Coffee competitive recently. I like Cookeville going to Wilson County - will be a very competitive district. I'm shocked they split up the Williamson County schools, but, other than that, AAAA was about what I expected
  25. Been hearing that all Lawrence County schools will likely have larger numbers than initially reported due to a clerical error at their central office. IF true, you’re likely looking at Summertown and Loretto moving to AA. Lawrence County would still likely be AAA. Again, that’s just the rumor floating around my neck of the woods
