  1. Elizabethton Greeneville Livingston Upperman Creek Wood South Side Dyersburg Fayette Ware Greeneville/Seymour, Creek Wood/SGC, and Dyer Co/Fayette Ware could go either way. I don’t think the other games will be close
  2. According to schedules on CoachT, Gibson Co has not played AT South Side in the last 15 years. Every game has been at GC other than a couple on a neutral floor at a tournament. Did I miss one? Gibson Co schedule is always tough, but, if we’re gonna bang on Westview for not going to South Side, we gotta do the same to Gibson.
  3. Gibson Co Westview Gatlinburg McMinn Central York Community Scotts Hill Riverside
  4. That looks like a solid prediction. I feel really confident that South Side, Upperman, Livingston, Greeneville, and Elizabethton will be there. The other three spots are iffy for me. The Dyer Co/Dyersburg region championship game is a 50/50 game. Not sure who wins that one, but the winner will be at the state tournament. Loser will play at Fayette Ware in the sectional game - that game could go either way. South Gibson will be on the road for the sectional game against Creek Wood or Central Magnet. I feel like both those matchups are 50/50 games that could go either direction.
  5. @PCsupporter4lifeI’m here to eat all the crow in Linden. Huge win for that program. Congrats to your ladies!
  6. Anybody see the Ripley/Crockett County game Friday night? Scoreboard shows 43-41 win for Crockett. Ripley is not good. On paper, that should’ve been Crockett by 25+
  7. Beech and Cookeville win easily. The other two games could go either way. I would not be surprised by any outcomes of Hendersonville/Green Hill and Gallatin/Lebanon.
  8. Winning this region is a big deal. Runnerup has to go to Wayne County for sectional game. Neither one wants to make that trip
  9. I've only seen one McNairy game all year but they have a couple of nice pieces. 43 is athletic. They had a guard that shot it well.· You don't think McNairy could push South Gibson?
  10. The coaching in Region 4 is impressive. District 7 has McWilliams, Riddle, Dodgen. District 8 has Coffman, Hibdon, Tipps, Steely. Lot of really good coaches with successful track records in that region.
  11. You have obviously seen Perry Co play more than I have. I have seen them twice this year. I'm glad they had a good season. Perry Co had a great run of talent in the 2010s, up until around 2018 I think. Then the talent cycled down. The schedule suited a program that is rebuilding and looking to have some success - nothing wrong with that. Not every team needs to play a difficult schedule. The best win on Perry Co's schedule is probably the wins over Hickman Co, whose record is 11-13. All that said, I do not see them staying with 10 of Houston Co. Maybe I'm wrong. We'll see.
  12. Perry Co has had a solid year. The schedule was soft, but appropriate given where the program has been for the last few years. They will not beat McKenzie or Houston Co.
  13. Why don’t Gibson Co and SS play a home and home every year? Pretty close proximity and would be great games
  14. Page is solid and Coffman is a great coach. Tullahoma played better down the stretch. Lincoln has a couple kids who can score it and Tipps does a good job. Lawrence plays hard. But I can’t see any of the 7AAA teams losing to any of the 8AAA teams. I think White, Upperman, Livingston and Cumberland sweep the first round of region.
  15. Agreed. One of them will likely have to go to Fayette Ware for substate game. That will not be easy but it is a winnable game.
  16. This district is wide open. Early this season, I thought Crockett would walk through it. That was proven wrong. Any of these four teams could win the district. There's also a good chance that this district sweeps the first round of region.
  17. Accurate post. Every good coach works officials - trying to get the next call. McNeal and Embrey are two of the best coaches in the state. The fact that these two schools are playing games that matter speaks to that fact. When McNeal got the job, South Side was not good. Nowhere near what they are now. He has turned South Side into an absolute powerhouse in the last 10 years. SGC had one 20 win season in their history prior to Embrey getting there last year. She has produced the best two seasons in school history since taking the job. Both programs will continue to be successful as long as these two are in place.
  18. I think this is probably a 12-15 point South Side win. Foul trouble could play a role in this game. Neither team has much depth. Foul trouble for South Gibson could turn this into a blowout quickly. Foul trouble for South Side could make this a tight game down the stretch. Really good possibility that these two teams play a fourth time the following week.
  19. Saw film of a couple games. They defend well. Their coach does a good job. I don't think they have the scorers to play with York this year. They could still get to state as the rest of their section (Cannon Co, Community, East Nashville) all are pretty equal.
  20. District tournament is a big deal for Summertown and Loretto. Winner will not be challenged in region until the championship. Loser will have a really tough game in the semifinal against Cheatham County. Going to Summertown or Loretto is a long drive to really tough place to play for Westview, Gibson or Huntingdon. But those three are much more talented than Summertown and Loretto this year.
  21. How state tournament looks to me: Region 1/2: two of Alcoa, Gatlinburg-Pittman, McMinn Central Region 3/4: York plus one of these four: Westmoreland, Cannon Co, Community, East Nashville Region 5/6: two of Gibson Co, Westview, Huntingdon Region 7/8: two of Decatur Riverside, Scotts Hill, Trezevant Three of the teams that make will have no chance of winning the tournament.
  22. I think Reed is #12 for SG? Not sure. If I’m right, she’s not really a post player, just has a lot of length. Neither Creek Wood or SG has true post players. It’s what makes this matchup interesting. Burgess for CW and Allen for SG are very similar players. Honestly, these entire teams are very similar. I hope they matchup; it should make for a good game.
  23. I’ve seen both Creek Wood and South Gibson a couple times this season. Also saw them play each other at Wayne Co this past summer. IF that’s the substate game, it’s a 50/50 game. If they played 10 times, I think they’d split 5-5.
  24. You’re right that some programs avoid competition - high schools, middle schools, travel teams - to pax win-loss records. I didn’t disagree with that. I haven’t spent much time in Wilson County so I can’t speak about those specific schools. I stated that, based on conversations I’ve had with administrators and coaches, I don’t believe that is the reason schools avoid TMSAA. There are other reasons that come into play. You even mentioned a few of them in your post (referees, scheduling, finances)
  25. There are a lot of reasons that schools don’t join TMSAA. The two I’ve heard the most: 1. allows schools to avoid TMSAA regulation on off-season workouts/practices 2. allows schools to avoid a set district/region, which gives the school more control over schedule and travel I’ve never heard of a middle school avoiding TMSAA because they didn’t want to deal with the competition. Not saying it couldn’t happen, but I’ve never heard it
