  1. Good description of Central. I think you were spot on but Masengale is a matchup nightmare. If you put a big on her she will blow by them and smaller guards can't defend her in the paint because she jumps over them. She also defends the post very well because of her hops. She definitely can't get in foul trouble. Their scrappy guards put a ton of pressure on the perimeter and they shoot extremely well. But my favorite thing about Central is that their half court offense is a thing of beauty with ball screens, face cuts, and back doors. They run it so well and it’s so tough to defend. But as you said they are not deep with some freshmen playing key roles. But most A and AA teams have that problem.
  2. I totally agree. After first round of region they better be ready to play every single night or they could go home. But to give them credit there hasn't been many nights they haven't brought their A game.
  3. Cookeville is still rolling with a huge game on the horizon in second round of region. I don’t think Cookeville or Siegel will be happy about facing each other in a knock out game. But with Siegel getting upset in district final, that puts what could have been a region final game in the second round. But if your goal is a gold ball you have to beat alot of really good teams on your way. And unfortunately a really good team is going home early. Let’s go Cavs!
  4. I am confident that GP wins the next matchup by 20. I don't think it will be close. GP is really that good. When you are cruising through the district like they were its hard to stay focused late in the season. This loss will only make them mad.
  5. If its the dark horse and not the favorites.... A: Clay County AA. NONE! There will be 8 horses and there won't be a easy side of the bracket! There won't even be an easy first round game! AAA: hmmmm maybe Heritage would be considered a dark horse AAAA: Since BC is everyone's pick. Everyone else ahs to be considered a dark horse so I will roll with Cookeville! (of course I couldn't pick anyone else in this division)
  6. Thats just crazy talk. I don't think they will beat all the teams in the glass house by 25. I do believe that Clarksville is likely a paper dragon. But I don't think BC walks through the tournament by 25+ pts every game. I didn't say that they won't win it! They are definitely the favorites! But they didn't beat Cleveland, McMinn Central, Coffee County, Knox Catholic, etc by 25. And the same team that beat BC by 10 from GA only beat Blackman by 5. There are going to be teams in the tourney that are just as good or better than those teams. So pump those brakes a little! Right now I think they are probably around 10 pts better than most teams in top tier. But if someone gets hot they can definitely make up that gap. Should be a great tourney. I just hope we make it again then maybe we can make some noise.
  7. Truth is Stone had them beat in first game and officials bailed Upperman out. I am not surprised they lost this game but for sure they aren’t losing any sleep over this L. Gives them a shot at making tourney.
  8. That’s a trick question. Yes the teams in their district are that bad. And yes they are that good! There are a few teams in 4a that can give them a game. I am not sure if any of them can beat them though. If they play their best game then no probably not. It will take a team playing a special game to beat BC. But anything can happen at the glass house.
  9. Didn’t they play CC very close twice? And beat Lincoln County? Almost beat Blackman?? They may be in a weak district but that team is better than you are saying.
  10. Oops. I should have known that. I remember Tullahoma and LC split some games earlier this year. I guess I thought they both moved to 4A this year because of that. Anyway I still think will be LC playing in a sectional if they win the region.
  11. The answer is no. You will most likely be playing a District 12 team in the final (I hope its Hville). But you better win that region and not finish second. Lincoln County or Tullahoma will likely be who you face in sectional if you win region. I think it will be LC and that will be a VERY tough game. If you finish second you will be facing Coffee County and that won't be pretty.
  12. I hope it isn’t like the last few years. It has been a blind draw that nobody is allowed to see (because of COVID). Can’t live stream it either. Too dangerous….
  13. Two very good teams. Hope we see that matchup again in the glass house.
  14. That will be very close. Clarksville will be there and maybe Whitehaven. I like the east teams. Cookeville is not a given especially with the way Lebanon plays defense and Beech has to get past Lincoln County. But I think you have most of them right.
  15. I agree there needs to be more support. But it starts with alumni. I used to think it was because the teams weren’t good. But these two teams aren’t just good. They are amazing!
  16. I would bet that they don't release the data because it doesn't always reflect who is chosen. Narrowing down to 3 is an impossible task no doubt but I believe sometimes they leave off some players trying to include all regions. If that is their basis then they should release the data with the results. Its kind of like the AP poll. There are several weeks that have 10 voters that vote regularly! No way they get a real representation of the state rankings with such few votes. If the Mr/Ms Basketball votes are similar then it is a small few voting for the entire state. I would love to see those numbers.
  17. Tough to see her not on that list. But that list is a crazy good in AA. MM definitely deserving but every girl on there is deserving. Sometimes they take one from each region sometimes they don’t.

  19. I think odd number district hosts on odd years and even number host on even years. And the host should rotate each year.
  20. The tourney is at Oakland and they beat Blackman last week so they could pull off an upset but I think Cookeville and Lebanon should be favorites. And nobody wants to finish second in this region and travel to the black hole of death in Bradley County for a win or go home game. So the Region final will be a war!
  21. I think it will be double digits. I said 15 pts earlier and I think that is about right. They WILL dominate the paint its not even close in that part of the game. If WC has a good shooting night and makes Upperman pay on the double teams they should win this one by 15. Now if the Bees can get the bigs in foul trouble then they have a shot. And Upperman gets all the calls in Baxter so anything can happen. But this is just not a good matchup for them.
  22. With 5 seniors leaving they will have a shot at a lot of playing time next year. I doubt any of them transfer. Those kids play all year long together and they are close friends. And we have gold ball plans of our own. You will see soon enough.
  23. We have a stacked 9th grade class this year and nobody really knows about them because our seniors are so good. They will turn a lot of heads next year though. We are too deep for them to get a lot of meaningful minutes this year. But they are going to be very good. And a year of playing these seniors in practice every day is going to get them ready for next year. Bryce (PG) is getting some playing time and is doing very well. Walker has grown more and is probably 6’ 5” now. He gets some playing time as well.
  24. Cavs still rolling. They beat a solid Lavergne team last night. Those two teams matchup well and there are alot of playmakers on the court. Fun game to watch regardless of which team you are for. I look forward to a rematch in the district tourney and possibly Region. Nine game winning streak with a couple games against Lebanon to end the week.
  25. If GP loses it won't be because they beat a bad team 101-18! They are a VERY talented team with alot of depth. I wasn't there but I doubt they pressed the entire game or had their starters in most of the second half. If they did then they shouldn't have and you can complain! In most cases like this the bench comes in early and stays most of the game. And if you put your bench in are you supposed to tell the girls that work their butt every single day in practice that they aren't supposed to go out there and play the game? Sometimes the talent gap on the floor can't be changed. You can change to zone defense and you can stop pressing but you can't tell your girls to not score the ball or ask them to let the other team score! Would you rather them hold the ball at half court for 2 quarters of the game?? If that is what you guys are saying then why doesn't the other team just forfeit after the first quarter? Now if the team pressed the entire game or left their starters in that is a different story.
