  1. Gonna have to say Waverly on this one.
  2. Every level has door mat teams. Take a 3 A or higher team that plays in 4 Homecoming games a year. There's a reason they play in those games. Just because they get smoked by a 1A team should not blur all the A categories into one. That's crazy.
  3. I don't have a dog in this race, but always pull for NWTN first. Would love to see Riverside pull this off.
  4. If Dresden opens aggressive & up to their capability, this game will be over by halftime. If they slug around & start slow like they have the last few scrimmages & against Camden, could be a lot closer game. The rivalry should bring back the urgency they've been lacking.
  5. People can quote the numbers forever & debate truth or dare. For some of you on the T that may have never been to Union City, for me its more than the numbers. Excluding major metro 1A schools like MACE & focusing on what are generally rural towns where 1A schools mostly reside UC looks a little different to the eye test. 170 bed multi-story Baptist hospital with multiple other health care services surrounding. A Super Walmart (the 3rd one built there) that would cover the entire campus of a vast % of 1A Schools. Better part of a dozen national chain restaurants. Multiple national chain hotels, world class museum (that I highly recommend) Did I mention a Lowes? I could go on, but why? Compare that with their Region 7 rival Dresden that has 2 whole stop lights. If the court house wasn't located in town, might not have those. Oh, & UC has a court house too..... UC has 2 other high schools to compete with in the county? Dresden has 3 others. Dresden has 3,000 people, UC 11,000. And shows 40 more students than Dresden. Not, blaming, not scapegoating, but come on people. If you are a UC fan I applaud that. Kids & teams need to be supported & I'll say it again, I applaud you for doing that. But if your feeling are hurt because of all the talk, get in your truck & go visit a few of the 1A towns you play & see if the eye test looks a little different there.
  6. We've had that at Dresden too. T. Oliver our QB & middle LB for last few years. Human beings can't give more on the field than ole #1 did physically, But it's just too much to play every snap of the game sometimes. So, I understand that with Moore & true, haven't heard, or I just missed the scrim talk about MC. We saw first hand what McKenzie had last year as they are our neighbors. The folks I know from there had lots of respect for MC last fall & expected them to be a preseason threat.
  7. I'm not sure how Moore County went from being one of the "it" teams with Dawson White after season last fall to barely being mentioned now..... Kind of sounds like the entire East has forfeited their season to let South Pitt just show up in Chattanooga. Any other fan bases any where over there? It's still early, show some team pride. Pulling for the Dresden Lions!
  8. Watching this, I kept thinking the same thing. Is the QB from last year at WR now? I think he was the one lining up in the stack with the big linebacker. Maybe?
  9. Yeah #10 is about as good a 2 way player as they come. Re-aggravated basketball ankle roll from back in the summer. Think he was more frustrated by it than actually hurt, but better safe than sorry. It's a scrimmage, maybe some of these small kinks are for the better to get out of the way now.
  10. Multiple 1A divisions sounds great until the bills come due. These schools barely fielding teams and barely/not filling the home bleachers is tough. Hometown pride is one of if not the best parts of 1A ball. Beating your neighbor is a 1000 times more important than driving 90 minutes to play a team nobody back home has even heard of. Make half season games 2 hour or more round trips & the fan numbers will crash. My son plays at Dresden, we are in the larger part of 1A or 1AA as it could be. We travel very well. Often times we have more fans in a stadium than the home crowd does. That's money to that little program & I'm proud to help them with my ticket$ & fat belly I fill up with their grub. What goes around comes around & those folks are sure welcome at Dresden to spend a dollar too. However, we aren't land locked over here like mountain towns, so it very well may be of benefit elsewhere.
  11. Oh yeah, I didn't realize you had all season & pretty well starting from scratch. Get a few wins under their belt, then add McKenzie week, energy won't be a problem! Lots of football between now & then. Good luck luck on your season.
  12. Dresden needs to regain their urgency & somehow stop loosing players to injury every other series. TCA did a good job of mixing the play calling & staying aggressive. They were more ready to play to start the night than the other 2 teams. Dresden QB was having to bail them out of bad situations with tough passes. It worked, & backed the D up a little, but DHS is still not in a groove. Not even close to the team they were when they played Adamsville. Get some kids back, Westview week gets here, the urgency will take care of itself. WC seemed (to me) to be the only likely challenger to McKenzie in the region, but I'm just not seeing it. WC had so much energy last year during this 3 way scrim. That wasn't the case last night.
  13. Want to beat TCA? Vary the hard count, defense will fall for it 100% of the time with lack of discipline at the line. Otherwise, TCA was very much improved. Night & day better than the same 3 team scrimmage as last year. Like everyone, it's early, improvements will be made, but those boys are tough, tackle well and play together. Maybe Softball is the real hot ticket in Atwood? Rowdy crowd noise coming from that field. The 3rd drive I believe you are correct, when they FINALLY got the ball to the big kid that also plays linebacker. Literally 10 people setting around me (some from WC) said the same thing, "should have come up with that sooner". Playing him in a far off fake WR stack play after play after play did not fool anyone & just a waste of his size & talent. Honestly, the oftentimes screamfest from the coaches wasn't impressive either. Scrimmages are for teaching, testing, correcting, not rabid mouthing. It's showing up in the kids play. This is 1st scrimmage plus 3 7x7 I've seen WC this year & they are no better than the first time. Just my observation. Dresden needs better O-line play as the blocking schemes are leaving people unaccounted for & it is killing the run game. It's also getting to where we need to bring an Ambulance with us to every event as well since we loose 2-4 kids every time we play. The Lions looked like about 60% of the team that punished Adamsville a week earlier. Not even close to the same urgency. Maybe because school has started, I don't know what has happened but I certainly hope they get it turned back around before Westview.
  14. After what Trenton has accomplished over the past decade, anyone that beats them for the next decade will carve a notch in their stick. If it was Dresden or Lake Co, UC or anyone else would've done the same. That's just WTN football & justified I guess. Not brow beating, Trenton could get it together later on, they have just lost too much to be the hot ticket right now in scrimmage time. And I'm not trying to diminish what UC did, because they did look very good & was a scrappy group that played complementary football. It's the QB to me at UC that opens them up to being a real menace mixed with that always tough run game. I feel like their lack of size overall will inhibit a deep run come playoff time. Think Fayettevllie '21 or '22, UC simply can't match up the size & everybody has speed. That's just my take. I've seen Lake CO in 7x7 action a few times. They are a speedy group no doubt. The QB does not appear to be a deep ball threat, but their short pass game is for real with the speedsters they have. I have not seen the big men for Lake nor a scrimmage. But I've seen enough to not write them off. If Lake has a run game, they are going to be a real thorn in the side of Region 7.
  15. I've been lucky to have seen a lot of teams 7x7 & scrimmage this summer. I take all of them as a grain of salt as nothing is like game settings. But...... Union City is good. Very good, but not dominant like prior championship teams I've seen from other schools. UC has a 3 headed monster guard to guard, total absolute studs, but size stops there. Tackles look like most teams WR/DB. Speed for days, QB is the best runner of all. Tough kid that that can throw very well too. They are going to be tough around WTN. I personally don't see them as a title threat. Not yet anyways. Not a hater, I have family on that team, just what I saw against Trenton. Trenton, is going to have a very tough season rebuilding. Seasons like this happen. Lake County & Dresden are closer to UC than I see them getting credit for to start the season. It's these 3 at the top way out in front.
  16. Thanks! That's where I had my schedules mixed up. I was thinking it was Peabody & Westview. Lots of good games tonight.
  17. Does UC have a scrimmage scheduled for tomorrow night?
  18. I did not see the scrimmage, but have seen LC & WC in 7x7 action a couple times recently. Not a fan of 7x7 at all, but the take away nevertheless. WC is going to need a big year from their running game & Melton & the linemen may provide?? LC is fairly impressive on their short passing game. Kids are quick. I've seen Tate from McKenzie, I expect he is going to have a banner year in Region 6.
  19. Huntingdon travels to Westview Friday night to scrimmage I think. Assuming McKenzie has someone lined up as well. Might put week 1 between these two into a little better perspective.
  20. Trenton Peabody Games broadcast live on Facebook are the best I've ever seen. Instant replay after every play every time & it's all free. They are partnered with someone out of Medina I believe, maybe South Gibson does their games too??
  21. Anyone know his background other than Ripley Assistant?
