  1. I would say Dyersburg is good, maybe really good. To me it's hard to tell because they haven't beaten tough competition. Haywood is really good. If I'm not mistaken, Covington did not score on them.
  2. In my honest opinion, neither team has beaten a really good team yet. Covington is pretty good but they got boat raced by a really good Haywood team. EN beat Waverly and WH but neither of those teams were really good. As far as being one dimensional, I am pretty confident Alcoa will go into a game with either team being one dimensional. If you win in the trenches and play good defense, that is what matters. As for a prediction, whoever is leading after the first quarter will win this game.
  3. No way he has ever been a teacher in a public school. No one in education tolerates or rewards negative results.
  4. Agree on all points again. At one time, when I was growing up, metro was like the surrounding counties are now. It's a shame what it has become. No fan support st all. That's why guys like firebird and fan get my respect. I'll even add in old ENasty. I agree Rutherford County is going at it the right way. Oakland, Blackman, Smyrna, SC, and LaVergne all have youth leagues. Blackmans youth program is top notch and is ran by a former metro player. I think we agree on most fronts. What's your take on the PC game this week?
  5. King - No disagreement from me on that at all. I completely agree as a competitor you measure yourself against the best. In 3A, year in and year out for what seems like forever it has been Alcoa. Very few 3A teams can match Alcoa in any given year, much less regularly. I honestly can't think of one single 3A team that can compete with Alcoa on a yearly basis. However, in metro, PC is the measuring stick inside of metro. PC takes on some of the best competition in Nashville. Look at their schedule. I don't think there is anything wrong with metro teams trying to catch up to PC, while at the same time competing for the state title. And I will add, PC has been arguably the most successful metro team. Why not use them as a local measuring stick? I am not connected to any metro team. I attended metro schools my entire K-12 years, my family all attended metro schools, and most of my family worked for metro schools. I wish them all the best in the playoffs. I just saw where Brown is officially out this week. That is certainly a blow to PC. He is a special player that will not be replaced. The question is can PC get it done without him. I still feel like it will be a close game. I'll stick to my original prediction but I am a little less confident.
  6. No king I disagree. There was no PC for EN this year. 2014 meant more. You can disagree all you want but everyone knows PC was/is the measuring stick in metro.
  7. That is great! Glad to hear it. Wish others from metro would do more of this.
  8. Fan does Vaughn ever come back to PC to talk to the kids? I would think he would be a great role model for those guys.
  9. Come on fan you are better than that. All the respect to PC. Back then and I'm sure still, PC was the measuring stick for EN. I dont remember the team getting any t-shirts that year. But if they did, who cares. I bet if y'all had ever beaten Alcoa y'all would have gotten t-shirts too.
  10. King there was no three way tie. EN won the region beating PC in a classic at Vandy. I am not saying this year did not matter. In fact I said the opposite. What I did say was it mattered more in 2014 because PC was in the region. Get this.......when was the last time EN beat PC? I'll wait for your response.
  11. East Nasty - Why are some folks saying EN won the region for the first time in school history? I am glad EN won but its not the first time. Why did some EN folks forget when EN won the region when it actually mattered the most, you know with PC still in the region. Just curious why some would want to forget such a great season under Coach Waite. As for PC, I am thinking they can pull this one out. HC is good but I just think PC will make just enough plays to win. I would expect a close game with PC pulling out maybe a 28-24 type win.
  12. At one point mjgb was about as obnoxious as anyone could be. Over the last couple of years he has calmed down quite a bit. He had a pretty good idea of how this year would go for his team. He was critical when he was justified to be. I can't remember any time this year when he wrote on here that MJ was a contender.
  13. Sounds like someone wanting to put their own name out there. Why not just state whom would make for a home run hire and leave out all the other stuff. But to throw one out there that meets most of your qualifications..............GQ.
  14. Question for East Nasty...... How come people keep saying this is EN first region championship in football? I find it hard to believe EN has never won one before now. I remember when EN was in the dirty dime with CPA and PC and LA. Those were some tough regions/districts back then.
  15. Congrats postman! I see you're still around causing a fuss. Hope you are good. Hope the new little one is healthy.
  16. RTD my apologies. I agree metro should have been updating stadiums and other facilities long ago. Glad they are finally getting around to it. Back in the day, some of the stadiums were nice and well taken care of. However that time is long gone.
  17. King thanks for the clarification. The new stadium is nice but the old stadium did have a lot of character. Drive by there all the time going to Nona Lisa.
  18. RTD yes the stadium st WC is old, as is the case at several metro schools. Gradually, metro has been updating the stadiums much like anywhere else. It was not long ago that H20 played at an old stadium. Be thankful for what you have. No need to knock others. As for the game, WC will have athleticism and speed. H20 defense I am sure will be up to the task just put them away early. Offensively H20 just has to hang onto the ball. H20 should dominate special teams.
  19. H20 WC has zero posters that I am aware of. A couple metro guys might get on here but I wouldn't count on it. WC does appear to be somewhat better than the last several years based on scores. I would think if H20 could get up early it will be over. Let them hang around for too long and who knows.
  20. Is Oakland good? Without question. They have a good coaching staff from top down. They have facilities that match or are better than those around. They have a good school zone to pull kids from. They have tradition. And yes the transfers without question help. Many kids transfer into the middle school first. Its a combination of all of this that leads to success. I laugh at the argument that no one notices those that transfer out.
  21. Yes that is correct. The old FR school was near the Vanderbilt campus.
  22. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought all oakland and Riverdale games were played at middle until stadiums were built. I think Siegel even played some games there. I agree the more schools that are added the less posters for each team. Posters I remember most are my2cents, lostolddad, nrgrizzlies, tdcman, and a couple others. I think most are no longer around for various reasons.
