  1. Point of clarification....Hamilton didn't have an ineligible player. You have the wrong school. It was Ridgeway.
  2. If Riverdale or whatever Ruco top school is the measuring stick for girls basketball, why not schedule them to see how you match up with the top teams in the state year in year out. It will improve your chances during the tournament time. Unfortunately, coached are concerned about their perfect record and they often have an early exit year in year out in the class house.
  3. Who are you picking in this game?
  4. The home and away team has a scorebook to keep during any game. At the end of the day, the official book is what the officials must go by. This topic shouldn't have anything to do with the officials of this game. Furthermore, why degrade an official for his appearance. Instead of blaming and degrading this official, why don't you go to camp to learn how to officiate. TSSAA can always use people who are very knowledgeable about officiating basketball.
  5. I totally agree with you on everything you stated in your post. I've coached basketball for a number of years before becoming an official.
  6. Independence head boy's basketball coaching job is open. Coach Glass has accepted the Assistant Principal position at Lebanon High School. Congrats Coach Glass on a remarkable job at Indy. God bless you on your future endeavors.
  7. Here is a Rumor/Specualtion for you bro.....lol...It could be a nice connection but it was speculated that one or more of his top players quit while he was coaching at Hamilton because of him showing favoritism towards his sons. Apparently, this happened the year Blackman beat Hamilton in the state. Do you have any info on that?
  8. I was stating that many posters post rumors or speculations about kids going to different schools based on other sources. The only true fact basically comes directly from the parent's or the administration at a particular school. At the end of the day, the parents are going to put their kids in the best possible situation to succeed. If the Lawson's go to prep school, I wish them much success.
  9. You're right, this is a message board. Unfortunately, many speculations are just rumors. People are so worried about what Memphis schools are doing in AAA, within the rules of TSSAA, that their speculations are mainly rumor based. Facts not Alternative facts...
  10. Think about this for a minute...All eyes have and still will be on East....There is no possible way for any kid to transfer to East without the approval of TSSAA to be eligible for next year. The kid might be enrolled at East but that doesn't mean that he will be eligible to play without documentation.
  11. No one knows the true situation about what is going on with these kids at their upcoming schools. Penny will not do anything to hurt those kids in addition to his name. Oftentimes, we post things to get people riled up over nothing. Please allow the situation to play out and then you will see what is going on. He is well aware that people are waiting to see him slip up so he is making sure everything is approved by TSSAA for any new kids touch the floor at East HS. Facts....
  12. Rumors Rumors Rumors...Possible Alternative Facts...lol
  13. Ramirez and other district leaders have been meeting with East families and alumni in recent months and working through issues related to the redesign — not the least of which is what will happen to the school’s athletic programs. Sports teams have long been a source of pride for East and its midtown neighborhood. Just last fall, the school’s football team brought home a state championship title. Ramirez said the new all-optional school will continue to offer the same athletic programs for boys and girls.
  14. Cameron Payne is the last memphis born player to go to the NBA. He plays with OKC..
  15. I suggest that get out more and travel West. You'll find plenty of players that has that athleticism.
  16. Thanks for adding more motivation to East catswild....Be careful what you ask for because you just might get it. John Varlas , USA TODAY NETWORK – Tennessee Published 3:12 p.m. CT March 15, 2017 | Updated 17 hours ago MURFREESBORO — Just what the rest of the AAA state tournament field needs, an East High team that is playing with a chip on its shoulder. Less than 24 hours after finding out they wouldn't be allowed to take part in the Dick's Sporting Goods national tournament later this month, the Mustangs showed they're still the team to beat in Tennessee, dominating from start to finish in a 76-56 victory over East Hamilton Wednesday at the Murphy Center. East's pursuit of its second straight championship — and state-best eighth in the Memphis school's history — continues in the semifinals Friday at 11:30 a.m. against Oak Ridge, which eliminated Brentwood. On Tuesday, East officials pleaded their case at the TSSAA's board of control meeting in hopes of allowing the Mustangs to travel to New York and compete against seven other elite high school teams for a mythical national championship starting on March 30. But TSSAA executive director Bernard Childress told The Commercial Appeal that the governing body's by-laws state that once a team's seasons are over, they're over. “This is about more than basketball. Sports are supposed to enhance educational opportunities and that's why we've given the seasons a (defined) start and finish.†Bernard Childress, TSSAA executive director And on top of that, the Dick's tournament isn't sanctioned by the National Federation of State High School Associations. NFSHSA schools aren't allowed to play in non-sanctioned events. "Every state has pretty much the same rule," said Childress, noting that Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Utah and Washington are the only states that allow member schools to play in events like the Dick's tournament. "This is about more than basketball. Sports are supposed to enhance educational opportunities and that's why we've given the seasons a (defined) start and finish. And we also don't want to appear like we permit specialization. We don't want coaches pressuring players and saying 'stick to basketball and you can play in this tournament." Rather than being disappointed, East's Alex Lomax said he and his teammates will just use the decision as more motivation. "It was kind of tough for the moment because we really wanted to go to that tournament and make a statement to the country," he said. "But it's over and we can't do anything about it now. We just have to focus on us for the state tournament now. "It's just better motivation for us now. It's just another chip on our shoulder." "Like A-Lo said, it's just another chip on our shoulder. We're going to level up and show them (the TSSAA) that they made a mistake." The Mustangs (34-3 and ranked third in the USA Today national poll) made very few mistakes against East Hamilton. Chandler Lawson had 17 points and 12 boards to lead East's typically balanced attack. Dandridge chipped in with 12, while T.J. Moss added 9. Lomax, the Mr. Basketball winner for the second straight year, had 11 points, four assists and — as he happily pointed out after glancing at the stat sheet — no turnovers. "These guys are comfortable here," said Jackson of his team which is at state for the third year in a row. "We've played in two national tournaments this year, the Penny Hardaway Hoopfest ... they're used to the bright lights. These guys are studs." Added Lawson, "It's fun. We like all the attention."
  17. If OR was from Memphis with this same team, they would still be listed under East. OR is probably a really good team. If they knew about the caliber of players that they were going to have this year, why not schedule more tougher games so they would be better prepared for the state tournament. I compare OR to that Knoxville Bearden team a few years back when many of posters stated they were the best team in Tn period. OR is a good team but they haven't been battled tested like Memphis East has all season with their schedule. If OR plays an uptempo game without slowing the ball down, they will lose by at least 10 or more points. You will not beat East with a run and gun style of play. Memphis teams play like this night after night with better competition that any other team in the state. If OR beat Brentwood, then it will be a game to see because of all the hype. Don't overlook Brentwood because they could be the team that knocks OR out. They are the typical team that will play totally opposite of what OR is looking for with precision.
  18. I think this is the perfect game for Brentwood. Brentwood style of play will make it extremely tough for OR especially if their shots are falling. This game might be a trap game for OR. This game will be decided by less than 10 points.
  19. Is OR more athletic than Memphis East? Brentwood is a solid team. They are well coached.
