  1. I dont think so Splains, and this is why. Coach Heath Woods. Wooods is one of the BEST at getting and keeping his teams attention....in any week of the season. I think the Eagles have a good chance, if Aaron has a lights out game with no mistakes. I think that Carter's big FB and RB Brown will be too much in the end though. This game will be a war of attrition and Carter is better suited for that war.
  2. To me this match up really isnt Rogan vs. Smith, as many of the prominent media outlets in Knoxville are making it out to be. Sure, their both great RB's and DB's. Smith might just be the best DB in the state. Rogna just might be the quickets and most elusive RB in the state. But, to me it's about two things: QB play and special teams. Stinson is not having a lights out kinda year, but that has a lot to do with the playof his all world RB. He manages well and throws when it's necessary. Lindsey is the same kind of QB, though I believe Lindsey has made the most mark improvement of the two this year. Special teams. Fulton punts very solidly, but they are iffy at best on xtra points. This might be Catholic's biggest advantage. It may come down to which all star RB has the most yards...or it might come down to an extra point. My $$'s on the xtra point.
  3. This could come down to who's played the most good teams early. SD has played 4 good teams. Clinton has played 2 great ones. Clintons offense is better this year too. SD hasnt changed much. I like Clinton in this one.
  4. Station camp has had an amazing run at 4-0. Their kinda the Cinderella story of the year. I like their chances...
  5. CAK had to retool their offense this year to be ground based mostly. I think that favors Gibbs, as Aaron Large has quick strike capability and can put points on the board in a hurry. Rich Harb ain't around anymore guys. Gibbs wins....
  6. That's backed up by the size of the team. You won't see many 3A schools going both ways in as many positions as Catholic. I dont think this one is close. Irish eyes are smiling and it's time for revenge. On to a 3A championship Irish!!
  7. Y'all need to go spend some quality time around the Maryville program. It starts with good academics. No one transfers their kids, simply to play football for a team that's NOT known for placing players in high profile colleges. THATS A STUPID PREMISE and a lil old. It starts with the education. Success breeds success. If recruiting were necessary, Maryville would be in trouble. Same at Alcoa. Now, there ARE schools in Knoxville that do recruit and they NEVER finish highly ranked. That's the outcome of recruiting. Not championships. Cheating is the mark of a LOSER... The kids that are at Maryville make the Rebels what they are. Same at Alcoa. Those kids grew up in 24/7 football, wanting to be Rebels or Tornadoes so bad they could taste it. Great coaching never hurts. Both Maryville and Alcoa have this. The two best coachignstaffs anywhere...period. Carlton Flatt is the only other coach in TN that can claim what Quarles and Rankin can. So, in summation, there's no cheating and no smoke and mirrors. You that question what's going on in those programs DO NOT UNDERSTAND. So, you have to come up with something. They must be cheating, right? How else can you explain it? To that I say, your envy is a warm blanket. Thanks.
  8. This is a much better game than some think. West is talented, but shown weakness. Halls record doesnt indicate how tough this team is. If Halls doesnt fall behind big early, this could go to the wire...
  9. This is a tough stretch for Heritage. I wish them the best, but Oak Ridge is deeper, more talented and really really mad. This wont be much of a game...
  10. It's good to see local kids make it. I've followed all three closely and I have to say they've earned their shots. Eventually, it'll be Smelly and Thompson at QB for SC. Smelly gets his chance this weekend and who knows, we might see Cade. Stewart has been patient and sat behind the very best in the SEC. You have to learn a lot in that situation. He's gonna have a great year this year. Brandon...wow. I am so proid of all three, but to start as a freshman! I'm proud as punch of #1! All are shining examples of what local kids can do with talent and determination.
  11. Man...Powell will have to play lights out football to beat McCallie. BJ Coleman is a next level QB. I know there were a lot of circumstances to their win vs. Riverdale, but to just be there in the end and make it happen says a lot about that team. Powell will have to bring their A game. They did win last year, after traveling to McCallie. They have a blueprint for a win...they just gotta want it.
  12. Rig, this might be the year of the dawg. I think it comes down to whoever has the freshest legs in the 4th...what do you think?
  13. Both these teams could really use a win. Union Co gave up a record setting game to Aaron Large last week (1st Gibbs QB to throw for 300 yds). Greenback is still feeling the effects of the Pitt loss a few weeks back I'd say. Go Cherokees!
  14. TandJ, Tank and Kat, y'all will certainly have your hands full tonite. If you get past this one though, I'd say you're on your way back to the Boro. Go Cats! I am not expecting a Cat win, but wish you the best! I agree with Art, there's two meetings this season for sure...
  15. Never have really heard anything...how do the Tullahoma fans feel about Coach Olive? Just curious....
  16. Agreed. Rogan only got about 75 yards last year and it was because he WAS the Fulton offensive attack. Fulton's starting QB was suspended for the game, but good teams play thru that kinda thing. That was Stinson's first start, if you recall...dont read too much into Fulton's play last year because of that. That said, Rogan is still Fulton's biggest threat. The video is gonna be awesome on this one...
  17. As much a fan as I am of DB, I'd like to see the Bulldogs get back on track in a big way. I think DB has too much fire power though.
  18. Yes and no to the original question. In 5A, both will win more than last year for sure. Heritage's spread offense will only play to their strengths. We've seen that in their first two outings. I am concerned whether or not the big three on their offense will be enough against truly talented 5A teams. Heritage finds out Friday.... William Blount might actually be better without the big names they had last season. WB will most likely be 3-0 this time next week. I'd just like to see them carry their 1st quarter fire thru 4 quarters... Neither are even close to being #1 in their own county though. The day they can truly compete with either #1 or #2 in Blount, they'll be world beaters in 5A. That's the true mark of where they are now...
  19. I'd have to agree here. I've seen Melrose play for a couple of years now with less and succeed. Catholic would be great this year with or without the very best of everything. They're hungry, They're well prepared and they're talented. Not to mention very well coached.
  20. People that start threads like these dont get it, IMHO....
  21. CAK has moved to a more run oreinted offense. This means ball control football. They better hope they can move the ball and keep it a long time. Alcoa will take advantage of every snap and most likely score on every possession.
  22. Kids are kids guys. I've done much worse at their age. If a Racoon and a sign is all you have to discuss, go to bed. Well coached, well played game on BOTH sides. If you dont believe that, you are firmly in the "ON CRACK" column. That's the very best effort both teams have put on the field vs. each other since 88 or 89...cant remember the year...maryville was driving and ran outta time. Congrats to both programs. Like I told Lanxter, Shiverdecker, Sykes, Sommer and Hicks, it has NO effect on gold ball #8
  23. This game will be closer than it has been the last few seasons. It's always a classic match up. I think Coach Wilson could do some great things with Bearden, given time.
  24. I think Farragut rolls in this one. I'd usually pick Central, but they have to much to resolve and maybe too many pre season demons to overcome. We'll see... He Rig, ORKat and LL...y'all know me
