Softball Gate Prices and tickets?

This may be a little off the subject but I have a few ?s......I have been to several HS games, away and home, and have noticed a wide variety of gate prices for tickets.....

Just this week one place was $4 a person......kids free....and another place was $3 a person and $2 a kid......Even though that gets expensive for a family during a week with 3 games....I am not complaining.....just wandering why even within districts and regions there is not a set price?

I think its good to show accurate ticket sales because someday it may show the true following of Girls Softball......and other spring sports

I would just like to know what the average gate fee is because it seems ours have been below average compared to everyone else.......we need all the info about this subject so we can be fair at our gate.....

Thanks to everyone that supports spring sports...

I think $4 is pretty standard from what I have seen.  One team in the Knoxville area charges $5, but the rest have been $4.  I would like to know what some of the teams from other areas charge and how they handle gate receipts.

I am president of the booster club and none of that money comes to the booster club. It is managed by the school. We put someone at the gate, but the tickets are handed to us before the game and the money is collected after the game.

I will check with the school on the admission. We did charge $4 at the gate for the Halls game, but if everyone else is charging $3, I will see about getting that changed.

I know West charges $5.

Very interesting discussion. I am also in the boosters club here at Unaka in NE TN. We charge $4 and the school gets the money to spend on the program. I think some of this also depends on the size of the school. We're class A and we don't get much support from any other resourceses other than a very small amount of advertising. If schools aren't charging for their games - it may be because they're funded well from the school system? I wish we could do this but if we didn't take gate money - we probably wouldn't have softball for very long!

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
