Metro Coaching Changes

How Ironic with the two best freshman teams in the city last yr. Incoming coaches must be licking their chops. Mangrum just wasn't getting the job done. Despite what he says. Collins(Pearl-cohn coach) seemed to be wearing down, didn't seem to be into it.

 

Bass middle school also had a good year Pearl Cohn's feeder school.

 

JFK antioch's feeder school finished 19-1 losing in the championship game. Talent always on the way to antioch. The only negative for this job will be what happens when a new HS is built in Antioch. Watering the talent back down.

 

Both Jobs have MEGA potential. With Antioch being the premier job in metro(over 2000 kids to choose from).

 

Who are the early candidates...............I'd say Coach B from maplewood. He would love to coach at Antioch(frustrated with lack of zoned kids attending maplewood). He already coaches(assistant) the antioch freshman football team. He lives closer to Antioch.

 

Pearl-Cohn , I have no idea.

 

What are some early thoughts on the jobs.

This is the first I've heard of Mangrum being out at Antioch. Did this happen or just something you want to see? He did a great job at Harpeth, what is he not getting done at Antioch? If he is leaving was he let go or did he leave on his own?

I noticed that the paper stated that the new coach must be a certified teacher. Uh, I believe that would knock out Coach B from Antioch job. But then again, it didn't seem to keep him from getting the job at Maplewood.

Never fear Dooty will be certified. Jim Fey is another name that could be in the hunt. In my humble opinion, it was a little harsh using the word FIRED by our newspaper reporter.

Being certified wasn't a requirement by Maplewood at the time. But Dooty will not get the job if is certified or not. Why would Antioch want to inherited the $4,000+ cash problems he created at Maplewood? Besides, I'm pretty sure he's going to be fired by Mr. Braden anyway.

These jobs will go through Mcgavock (Tribue). There is always a principal from another school involved in the process. He will probably volunteer to help. The principals will have the final say but you can bet they will be prodded in a direction. You're right freewillie, Daddy will be a BIG help. Nice Coding.

Why would a principal at one school let a principal at another school be involved in who they hire? Especially since they both play in the same district.

 

So, if one is to believe your theory, McGavock's principal will have Hunters Lane prinicpal to hire his coach, then he would have Antioch's principal to hire Hunters Lane's coach, then he would have Maplewood's principal to hire Antioch's coach, then DOOTY would be his next coach.

I hate to hear that Barry Mangrum was relieved of his coaching duties. He is a good coach and will land on his feet at a new school. I wondered when he left Harpeth for Antioch if it was the right fit for him.
