actually, fcmama, you don't really know me; it is not sarcasm; it's just plain humor. by the way, fcmama, you still have not pointed out the questionable calls that you alleged were made in the first coffee co/ shelbyville game. this is the last time i am gonna ask you to back up your allegations; if you don't, i'll just chalk it up to "spouting off without the facts." by the way, that is merely humor.

Chalk away. That was so long ago I don't even care anymore. It wouldn't change your opinion of what happened. I saw what I thought were calls that could have gone our way and did not. Story of our lives. Interpretation is in the eye of the beholder. You have yours and the rest of us will have ours. We could spar back and forth for the next 100 years and nothing would change. By the way, humor at the expense of others is not what I call humor.

It's always the umpires fault isn't it?

Its never the missed ground balls, or the baserunning errors is it?

Amen to that! Maybe if Shelbyville didn't dwell on a call that happened in the fourth inning, they could have stepped up and done something. Furthermore, you don't see everyone else in the district complaining about bad calls. I'm sure that this call was not the only bad one made all year, but yet you dont see other teams with posts constantly complaining about calls. Shelbyville is just showing how weak they are by constantly saying that "it was the call that cost them the game." that is such a whiny statement. I dont know how many hits coffee had , but i'm thinking with 11 hits shelbyville had more. Even with the bad call, with that many hits shelbyville should have been able to pull away with a win easily, guess it just goes to show how good coffee's defense is, (or how bad SHelbyville's baserunning is). Bottom line is there have been many bad calls in softball, but the better team will step up and win (bad calls or not) and obviously by the score, that team was coffee and NOT shelbyville, enough said.

One more thing, Coffee is prolly not as strong as they have been in past years but win or lose i think that they are an overall better team than shelbyville, and more than likely it will be proven in the district tournament. IF shelbyville could beat someone like ugh.....lincoln county (who IS the best team in the district, HANDS DOWN) then i might reconsider that statement.

Again. The missed call did not GIVE CC two runs. After the missed call, play was dead with runners on second and third with two out. Correct so far? So, how did the call GIVE them the extra runs? What GAVE CC the two runs was what happened when play resumed with the next batter. As I said earlier, people cannot accept fault so they find someone else to blame. The only way that this ump and this call could have given CC the runs or the game is if the runs actually scored during the play in which the missed call occurred. Shelbyville had opportunity to get the final out with runners on second and third. They blew it! Period.

As an ump and a coach (10U girls), I have been around softball for 25 years and have seen thousands of games, so yes I feel that I know what I am talking about. I've been involved in games as a slow-pitch player and fast-pitch coach where I felt cheated by an ump or a missed call. Generally though, when I had time to reflect on the game, there were numerous missed opportunities for us to be in a position to win. I did not see this game but I'm willing to bet my house that if Shelbyville fans were honest they could say without doubt that the true fault lies within the team. If they cannot say that, they are in denial.

Besides, the missed call happened in the 4th inning. I could have sworn that high school games were longer than that. What happened in the other innings? Hummmm.  thumb

How many times am I going to have to explain this? The missed call would have been the THIRD OUT of the inning. Shelbyville got the final out but had it taken away from them. The ump blew it! Period.

I have been around softball for 41 years and I know what I'm talking about. I have won 8 TN State Championships coaching girls from 8 - 16 years old. I have seen everything that can happen in a softball game. Umpires miss calls all the time. I have won games because of a bad call in my favor. I have lost games because of a bad call against me. It happens but that doesn't make it excusable.

Anyone who says a bad call can't cost you the game is in denial.

You want to know what happened in the last three innings? Shelbyville outscored Coffee County 1-0. Take the 2 gift runs away and Shelbyville wins 2-1. Hummmm.

This is ridiculous- you just can't take the high road with some people. Maybe mc dad and sball2 can't read and still don't understand what happened in the game but

that's their problem. If it makes you both feel better to try and make fun and tear

down other teams go to it. Some people are like that. Everybody that saw the game knows better and like I said a win is a win and Coffee Co was lucky and escaped with the W. Good Luck to all the teams in 8aaa district. GO EAGLETTES!!!

You live in a world of denial. The two Coffee County girls got to stay on base because of the call. The hit that scored them was a good hit but it should have happened in the fifth inning with nobody on base instead of the fourth inning with two on base. The "IF's" are coming from you guys who are saying "if Shelbyville would have played defense or if Shelbyville had run the bases better". I am telling what happened in the game. The umpire blew the call, Shelbyville lost because of it. You know I'm right but you are either too arrogant or just too stupid to admit it. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say it's arrogance. I have wasted enough of my time on this thread. denial denial denial :D

You're right, i'm too "stupid" to admit that shelbyville lost the game SOLEY because of the umpires call. what was i thinking? .....I am not a shelbyville fan and i'm definately not a coffee fan, so i have no favorite team in my opinions. I just found this thread humorous when it was saying that this team lost because of the umpire, but go ahead believe what u want, but last time i checked there were 7 innings in a game. whats ridiculous is to say that the entire 7 innings were lost because of one bad call.( yes yes i know, "The girl was on third, it would've been the third out....blah blah blah") I understand that it may have been a game changing moment, BUT there is absolutely NO difference in saying that the call cost shelbyville the game vs. saying base running cost them the game. there are questionable calls in every game, thats just the way it is, the umps are not perfect and definately not responsible for a teams win or loss( no matter what the situation is). Blaming an ump is just like blaming a specific girl on a team for the loss, its just not right, nobody's perfect) and if u havent realized that by now then apparently you're the arrogant one. shelbyville is a decent team and its sad to see that this one call can get to them sooo bad. my comments may be wrong or whatever but i'm not in denial, it is my opinion, and you're not going to change it." nor am i trying to change yours, i just voiced my opinion...end of story and now i'm done wasting my time.
