govolz
In what turned out to be a game that one thought would never end, and a scrappy and very talented team effort. Beech and Soddy played probably one of the best softball games that in my time I have had the pleasure to watch and be a part of. The game went 12 innings and both teams did everything that they possibly could to stay up in the winners bracket. Final score was Beech 3 Soddy 2. Beech tied the game up with one out in the top of the 7th to take it to extra innings. Kassi was brilliant on the mound and the Beech girls pulled together as a team to come out with a win. I don't know what else to say other than this is a special group of girls who know that the ultimate goal is another State Championship. Again, looks as if the road is going through Beech. Hats off to both teams...What a great game!

shut up and play
Way to go Beech! I don't know why Beech would have been the underdogs. Why is Soddy picked number one every year. Soddy is picked to be number one every year. This tournament isn't over yet but Soddy is starting to remind me of the Atlanta Braves, get there every year but can't finish the deal. redbaron515
Good win for the Bucs. Proving all the doubters from the beginning of the season wrong....including me.
iconu2
Redbarron, You can add me to the list of doubters. If you told me they would make to state this year, I would have bet the farm. This may be the biggest win in the history of Beech next to the 97 team. Great job Beech.

Not exactly sure what a "fluke bunt" is. Can anyone give any details of what happenned in the 12th inning.
iconu2
LJ1764, There is no text on the story about the Soddy vs. Beech game. I don't understand where the text is. They may be to embarrassed to write about it. P.S. No such thing as a fluke bunt

I've always thought the writer Stan Crawley as being far to both teams in articles, was with Chattanooga Times for years, even when one team was not from the Southeast Tennessee area. bbl12753
Indian, The reporter did just state what the coach said, however the coach happened to be Coach Kirk, not Beech's. It must have been a great game & congratulations to the Bucs who have it going with a shot at Red Bank. SD will end up playing for the who knows how many times against Red Bank or will catch Beech again in the finals of Consolation. What a great tourney!
