all very good points and its pretty tough to say which one is the hardest. Qbs have to know it all on O. LB's have to know it all on D and the linemen have to make it happen at the beginning of the play so the skill guys can finish it. MY vote though goes to defensve back. I played a cover 2 safety last year (with little sucess lol) and most guys incorrectly assume that its an easy position. I mean first of all you have to make a secondary call and get it lined up then drop from the snap and get a read on the backfield action to try to call run or pass to help out ur d line and backers. Then u have to find the football and make what amounts to an open field tackle nine times out of ten on run plays. On passing plays you have to make sure that you are deeper then the deepest and make sure u can make a play on the zone that stretches from a seam route to a corner or go route all the while watching for a backside post coming into ur zone it gets pretty rough when u have a corner and a go route coming at u. Im just glad i packed on enough weight to get moved into the box and play LB again.

i gotta go with the O-line. if a team plays good and they give the qb time to look downfield and keep him protected who do u read about in the paper?? the qb's passing yards.. but if he gets sacked a lot, who gets the blame???? the offensive line.

Its about time the O-line gets some recognition....never mentioned in the paper or news....and if the runningback or the QB make a great play they get the recognition but if they get tackled for a loss or sacked then its the O-lines fault....

The hardest pos. to play has to be QB but the most important position is the o-line & d-line...Most any o.c. in college will tell you the D - tackles are the most important on the defensive side of the ball. If you have good o&d lines then you'll have a good team if not then you better have superior athletes or it'll be a long season.

Another reason I think d-back is hard is because if they get beat, it is 6 points. If a linebacker or d-lineman get beat, the d-backs can still stop the ball, nobody is there to help the d-backs if they get beat.

Depending on what coverage your, hence the word SAFETY, could be over the top hhelping DB's.

You're right, but a lot of high school teams don't play cover 2 that much, they usually stick with 3 deep or man. Even though I personally like cover 2 because I think it is hard for high school QB to read the flats and where the safety is playing.

    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
    • A huge addition to the staff today! Former Hardin Valley legend and Richmond College running back Aaron Dykes was announced as the running backs coach. Rushed for over 3,000 yards at HVA, with 35 total touchdowns. I loved watching in Hardin Valley. I can’t believe he’s at Bearden now. I know he was trying to get a HVA job, I don’t know what happened there and how he ended up at Bearden, but I'm glad he’s here and believe he will be teaching art class as well! What a good get for the staff!!
    • Thoughts? Gordonsville won it last year with a sophomore pitcher and returned almost everybody. Can anyone beat them?
    • I was kind of surprised to read this. I thought the general concision was most programs are going back to natural grass. Personally, I have never liked turf. I see the arguments on both side for or against it. I just never liked them. Also, I did not know there as an impaction test that these fields had to pass. Good stuff OP
