West vs. Webb

It is very simple to scout a team that you are playing in the first game. First, they may have traded scrimmage tapes. Secondly, the coaching staff may have gotten film from last season or spoken to fellow coaches who played them last year. Webb has been successful in the past with what they run and the coaching staff has had little if any turnover. I wouldn't expect them to change alot. So a simple look at their past would be a good indicator of their present.

also when ur basing the blitzing of motion and formation on a wing-t team it probably wont work. the trap, sweep, and bootleg all look the same in motion. and almost every single play can be run with the same motion and in the same formation. unless u plan on calling the blitzes during the play ur gonna have to guess before hand on tendencies....which is still the first game of the season...tendencies change with new players on the team every year. a scrimmage tape isnt the best indication of tendencies when each team has 10 plays to run with no down and distance.

Once again, coaches are creatures of habit. They are not going to stray to far from their comfort zone. Naturally, if a defense runs the wrong blitz, they may get burned. However, the advantage to blitzing versus the Wing T is simple. The Wing T is an offense based on angles and blocking rules. The basic premise is to block down and kick out. When the backs and lineman execute the blocking rules and the defense has stemmed or blitzed it causes confusion in the scheme. Some Wing T teams are very well coached and can pick up on these movements. Webb is one of those teams. However, West will make some big defensive plays that will put Webb in poor down and distance situations. At that point a Wing T team is limited. I, personally like some aspects of the Wing T and Webb runs it very well. In this instance though, the match up favors West.

Wests defense blitzes at LEAST 5 people when they are running a 3-5 defense, most often it is 6 blitzing. It is possible to tell where a defense is blitzing from based on the alignment of the safety and linemen. If two linebackers are gone, that is two tacklers gone, and with the corners locked up because of their exellent tallent (im not sure how often or how many receivers are in the traditional reciever position) that takes away two more. I would give Webb the advantage because of "random" blitzing. Wests talent and speed does not help them when Webb players are running in open field because of the well executed Wing-T and Wests loss of tacklers from the blitzing.

Just seein if after watchin the jamboree and seeing webb dominate halls 143 to 23 in total yards, if anyone thinks that west will stop them.

West offense will give Webb some trouble but Webb's offense will give West lots of trouble. NO ONE runs the Wing T that Webb runs, some of it may look the same as other teams but its defintiely blocked different and that's the big difference. You have to beat Webb with superior players, they will out scheme almost anyone. No matter what defense is run their offense has packages for every type of defense known to man. I think Webb will outcoach West in this close one...
