Region 2-5A....interesting!

Recommended Posts

William Blount is the only team in your top 5 that has played more than one of the other top 5 teams in the region. The other four still have to play each other. This is going to be a great month of football. I agree with your top four, maybe not in that order.

Very good point. This week(for WB) and the rest of the month for OR, Farragut, and Ootlewah will determine the order of the top four. The Farragut game has left me with some questions about Blount, but I think WB will move ahead of Ootlewah beacase they just don't have enough to get past OR and Farragut. I think the OR team is a great one, along with Farragut, but OR is just too powerful for anyone in the reigion in my opinion. Looking foward to some great battles!

The region maybe closer than you think. I don't think the Cats are as dominate this year. They are good but they can be beat. They could lose to any of their last four opponents if they play like they did in the first half last week. I don't think the Champion of this region will be undefeated. No disrespect just my opinion.

Everybody keeps saying Oak Ridge Farragut Ooltewah William Blount are fighting for position in the region. Everybody is leaving out Soddy. Allthese teams are still fighting for a playoff spot not position. Soddy Daisy WILL get in the playoffs. They look better and better every week. The team to get left out will most likely be Farragut. They caught William Blount on a bad night. Farragut just has not impressed me other than the win against Blount.

You will eat those words. Farragut is still in the hunt for the first seed. They will beat Soddy for sure.

Yea all you guys have seemed to have forgotten about the Trojans this is a very good football team who is really coming together at the right time.A lot was built up about Farragut last year and the year before that.Soddy absolutely destroyed them last year with a 35-3 victory and the year before the handed them a 31-17 loss at home to clinch their playoff spot. If i were you i would listen to jaw and wouldnt write the Trojans off just yet b/c he's right their improving every week and they will continue to do so and carry that momentum right into the playoffs.

Oak Ridge is winning this region 2-5A title hands down. the reason i say that beside being a former Oak Ridge Wildcat player and alumni is because of two reasons:

Reason 1: We have Spencer Gulmire at RB, all the other teams dont have him

Reason 2: We have Revel Coffey who can score anywhere from the field, all the other teams dont have him

jaw822- Wake up baby! Have you seen Farragut this year?

They have the 9th rated defense in the State in 5A. SD is 25th!

Defense wins Championships not pipe dreams like yours.

Rank School (overall record) Total pts. allowed pts. allowed/game

------ -------------------------- --------------------- ---------------------

1 Riverdale (7-0) 44 6.3

T-5 Oak Ridge (6-0) 43 7.2

T-9 Farragut (5-1) 59 9.8

13 Cookeville (6-1) 85 12.1

17 Ooltewah (5-1) 84 14.0

T-25 Soddy Daisy (4-2) 108 18.0

Then you have offense and SD is 19th and Farragut 20th.

T-1 Oak Ridge (6-0) 255 42.5

T-1 Ooltewah (5-1) 255 42.5

19 Soddy Daisy (4-2) 144 24.0

T-20 Farragut (5-1) 141 23.5

Do the math and we got U

points per game isn't the only factor that goes into determining how good a teams defense is...who says the offense hasn't had good field position a lot against a team, say getting inside the 20 or something like that, and who says some of those pts aren't from having an interception run back for a td, or a punt return, and who says a team didn't give up a lot of points in their first 2 games and then have corrected the things and been on lockdown ever since..im sorry but pts per game isn't the only thing that goes into deciding the best D

Oak Ridge Fans, give me 2 answers.

1 - Has Oak Ridge been in Region 2-5A since 1993 "Re-Clssification"?

2 - How many times has Oak Ridge been the #1 Seed out of Region 2-5A?

I expect it will be very close to those numbers that Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett has put up in Region 1-5A (9 Titles/#1 Seeds since 1993)

so your saying that since you have us beat on PAPER, that we shouldnt show up at all...we should go ahead and give yall the win....lol i guess that shows how smart you are........but then again thats three weeks away so we'll see you then

Not really but I wanted to show you why you shouldn't under estimate the Farragut. Playing the # 2, 4A team in the state and holding them without a score the first half is more than SD or Owls can say against the comp they have had so far. The Stats are a way to look at the teams. If it wasn't they wouldn't keep them and X-jocks wouldn't have anything to talk about on Fri-Sun.

The final weeks of the regular season should be interesting. The owls are a reallyu good team and I would give them an edge against Farragut. I haven't seen SD but know they play good ball. OR is OR!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
