Maryville vs West

Well Maryville is rotating players on every series, reguardless of what stage the game is in. The staff has confidence in about 11-12 kids, who may not start but could any night vs. any opponet. Good problem to have and the best thing, Maryville's two deep "D" is healthy after a tough last three games.

 

Maryville's offence really needs to get on track and stop making mistakes. Putting the ball on the ground deep in your opponets red zone is the worst of turnovers in football. The playmakes who get all the press and points, need to step it up and protect the mellon. If the "O" does not get on tract, it will be a short road in the playoffs. I have every bit of confidence that GQ and staff will fix this, as they have everytime before.

 

The defence is good enough to get Maryville deep into the play offs, but they can't continue to cover for these mistakes vs. good teams like Central and a few others Maryville will face in the play-offs. Central will be foaming at the mouth to get another shot at Maryville, and they deserve it.

 

Maryville will use Knox West to get the "O" ready for Halls.

 

Halls will be a joke of a game too Maryville is a powerhouse and unless their offense does terrible and turns the ball over this wont be a game this week either. Maryville is just building for the playoffs now and they need to keep building the offense up and make less and less turnovers they wont have much trouble in the longrun good luck to the rest of all the surrounding teams hopefully we will have 3 teams going back to mufreesboro again.....

There's really not a lot to say about this one as a Maryville fan. The team and staff will be prepared to execute, and I agree that they will probably try some things in this game that they would not have the luxury of running in a close game like the Central showdown. I expect that the offense got thoroughly worked in practice this week. Hopefully they'll be able to recover after a pretty dismal performance last week (much of which I rightly attribute to the Central D that was in our helmets a lot of the night). I just hope it's a fun game, a learning experience, and that no one gets hurt.

West does not have a chance in this game. Maryville scores 31 in the first half akins and second team get in the second series of the third quater. Even the 3rd and 4th team deffence will get some PT in this game. GQ wont let the mistakes on offense carry over to this week we all can be sure of that. Trust me GQ willl get the quarter backs and recievers in line and more discliplined when handling the ball. Alot of people get to play in this game, its a great game for the Maryville rebels, what more can we ask out of a game. It will hopefully be a good experience for some of the second and third teamers this week.

Rebelnation is right. West always gives Maryville fits. I remember how tough this game was in 1995,1997,1999,2002 and 2003. West beat Maryville in 1996.

 

West always has good athletes.

 

I think this game will be tough at first then Maryville will wear them down.

Well... NoOne would like to display his laughs in this forum because West is simply awful. But he cant because every post he makes is being read by the moderator and cant get a post put up... I guess you'll just have to rely on me for awhile Any how, West doesn't stand a chance and maryville will blow them out of the water. This maryville offense will be running on all cyclinders do to the sloppy play at Central, I would bet GQ will have the quirks fixed out for this week's game on the offensive side. As for the defense, West better just get used to the fact that they wont score until the 3rd quarter because that's when the sub's will come in, but I would be surprised to see many points given up do to maryville's great depth. However they are inexperienced so I'd look for West to put up a few late in the game. But maryville will win big!

Well, I agree with most of My Maryville faithful the offence must improve, but are we really that far off.

 

Hunt and Burnett have completed around 65% of their passes thus far and have led the Rebels to a 6-0 record.

 

The Running backs Talent, Baker and Singleton average 8.6, 7.1 and 6.5 respectively! The team averages 36 points per game. Way off the mark compared to GQ's teams of the past.

 

It is a fact GQ has worked the "O" very hard this week and they'll be ready to execute vs. Knotz West and win the game.

 

Most of GQ's teams got more concerned about stopping the other team than this year’s team. Let’s not miss-judge the Offence to harshly based upon lower numbers. GQ is one of the few area coaches who will not pad numbers or run up the score up on weaker teams.

 

It is a good thing defense win's championships!

i dont see Maryville having any trouble at all this week. they may have taken mo-west to overtime, but mo-west isnt Maryville. i say we come out with a comfortable win this week by around three or four touchdowns. this will be a good experiment week for our offense, and maybe we can finally decide on one quarterback

I agree with you FBEmeritus , i have total confidence in GQ . iT'S REALLY funny that anyone would want to question or second guess a coach who has won 4 state championships in the last 5 years . if he wants to rotate 6 quarterbacks ... more power to him . GQ has always played the back up QB a lot ... even with the game still on the line . The same people who are wanting just one QB to play all the snaps , would be the first ones to lament the lack of experience of the back up if there were an injury . I PULL FOR ALL OF THE REBELS !! no I in TEAM .

i pull for them all too, its just when there is a clear decision to make, i dont see why he doesnt make it, what happened in 04 when we rotated quarterbacks, semifinals loss to mo-west, i vote we stick with one, but unfortunately my vote doesnt count
