Siegel 0 Houston 2

Houston is the best team in state I believe, hands down. Their defense is the fastest I have ever seen. Siegel did have an injury and it came on the first goal she went down in the middle of the box and left an opening. Hope she is okay...it's either ACL or Hamstring they say? no def word yet

I will be shocked if Houston doesn't repeat and they deserve every ranking they have. And I agree with the assesment of they are very physical. They def are physical. They push, pull, grab, knock ya down, anything but hats off if ya get away with it.

Houston was the better team tonight and best of luck to them in the rest of the tourney

i am a Houston Parent, who is still in Germantown, left behind and waiting for word on results. thanks for the kind words on a great group of ladies. You guys have no idea how hard it is to be here and have your kid across the state competing in a huge event like this. Houston is a great team. and Team is the key part. We have 24+of the most talented players in Shelby County, some of who are superstars in their own rights. But that never transcends to the field. I hope you are right about our repeat... they do deserve it. Irby and Wolff are two of the most fantastic coaches in the world. Thanks for the words on the girls and the assessment of the game. GO MUSTANGS

Hats off? I say where are the referees when this stuff goes on?

I haven't seen Houston play and I look forward to it.

My comments are more general. In a physical game, the referees need to step it up and make sure that the fouls and are kept to a minimum and the rough play stays in control. The refs have a hard job out there, they need to call a fair game and but at the state level they need to call it close. These are the best teams in the state and can succeed even in a close called game.

Who was your injured player? Hopes for a speedy recovery! We thought you might pull off the upset!

You can play physically and legally. Said again, just because a team plays a physical brand of soccer does not mean that they are playing outside of the rule book. Referees do not need to micromanage games at this level either. Soccer is a physical sport.

like i said at the very beginning of the season...siegel to state

they wont lose one starter next year and im saying they get there again, especially if they just keep wprking hard and as a team

you cant say they wouldnt have an offence without brittney winn...b/c if you didnt have hayley sloan, kim conrad, and paige prescott you wouldnt have an offence either...they work hard and play as a team and help each other out to get where they are today, brittney winn is an amazing player, but so is hayley sloan, together they make a great duo, without one its not as strong, thats how a TEAM is....

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
