I love the Braves, year in a year out it is finally suppose to be the year that the Braves are going down. Every year the Mets and Phillies in particular try to make hugh splashes in the free agent market to knock off the Braves yet it doesnt happen. Atlanta insteads loses players and arent suppose to be good and replace them with rookies. The Braves are probably going to lose Rafeal Furcal and Kyle Farnsworth this week. (Even though the Braves are considering Trevor Hoffman). The over the years the Mets have brought in numerous free agents to knock off the Braves from Mike Piazza, Mo Vaughn, Roberto Alomar, Tom Glavine, Kris Benson, Cliff Floyd, Mike Cameron, Carlos Beltran, Kaz Matsui, and now Billy Wagner and Carlos Delgado. I fully expect the Braves to get picked to finish 3rd this year but somehow Bobby Cox will rally the boys again and win a 15th straight Division Title.

And how can anyone argue that this man isnt the best manager in MLB?

Yup I just saw on MLB.com that Braves GM John Schuerholz has confirmed that Kyle Farnsworth will sign a 3 year 17M contract with the Yankees to be Mariono Rivera's setup man. HOFFMAN TIME!

Lets not forget how the Cards fans were calling Farnsworth a castoff! They can cast me off for $17M over 3 years! Trust me the Cards would have loved to have Farnsworth!

Have you noticed most of the Yankees free agent pitching pick-ups in recent years have been complete busts? I laughed my head off when I saw Farnsworth was going to the Yankees. Good for him, get paid 10 times more than he's actually worth by ol' George! I'd signed on too! :thumb:

Well now at the last minute the Rangers have come into the picture with the Yankees according to ESPN.com, so lets see what happens. They say Furcal may determine his desination (Braves, Cubs, or Dodgers) within the next 3 days.

Are you talking about the Farnsworth deal? I thought the ink was already dry?

Nope. Rangers are in it too. Apparently whatever potion Jason Campbell gave people to make them think he was a first round draft pick, he gave to Farnsworth to give out too.

I'm not saying the guy can't throw hard and doesn't haev the physical tools, but WHY are teams throwing this much money at him when he has proven he cannot throw in the clutch? Heck, expect the Diet Yankees (Red Sox) to get in this before it's over.

WHAT?!?! The Cards played without their normal starting lineup for the majority of the season, and STILL ended up witht the best record in baseball!! That is a far better accomplishment than playing with a bunch of rookies and choking in the playoffs for the 10th straight year. :thumb:

Talk about the Braves choking?? Your clueless, they made the playoffs in a year No One expected them to, and the Cards as you stated " end up with the best record in the majors, and two years in a row loss the World Series, now, thats choking!!

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
