Rankings

The region and southeast rankings are nice, but I question what they really mean. I know that Georgia, Alabama, and Florida play girls high school soccer in the spring, maybe others also. So who are they ranking, and how are they ranking from these states?

Both the NSCAA and the FAB 50 Polls are covering all the states that play soccer during the High School Fall Season. In both cases, the following states and District of Columbia are represented in the polls:

Fall 2005 Season (High Schools)

Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont,

New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Maryland, Kentucky,

Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio, California,

Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington

(27 of 50 states)

Some states play in the winter and some in the spring. They will have a national poll for those as well (for those states that play during those seasons).

So being the best in the Southeast is actually just the best in Tennessee. Is that right

I'm not sure about the Student Sport rankings, but for the NSCAA, the region includes D.C., Md., Ky., Tenn., Va., W. Va.

There's some pretty good soccer in the region, particularly Virginia and Maryland.

The statistic that said that the top 8 Div. II schools had a 31-6-3 record vs. AAA schools shows that you can make statistics say anything you want.

This is why that statistic is garbage: You've included only the top Div. II teams and their games against EVERY AAA team on their schedule. Some of those 31 wins came vs. Bradley County, Franklin County, and Rossview.

This is a better comparison.

The final 8 Div. II schools vs. the final 8 AAA schools:

The record: 4-4-1.

Division II was good at the top, but it was top-heavy. There weren't any good Division II teams that didn't make the final 8. On the other hand, there were several upsets in AAA that kept some good teams from making the state tournament. If you were a good Div. II team, you had a cake-walk to the final 8. The AAA teams that advanced had to survive some tough matches.

Pope John Paul didn't play any team that made the final 8 in AAA.

Runner-up Baylor played 3 teams that made the final 8 in AAA (1-1-1), with the loss against state champion Collierville, who everyone agrees was probably the 3rd or 4th best AAA team at best.

The fact is, there wasn't much of a difference between Div. II and AAA this season.

What you say is true, but then again 2 of Collierville losses were to DIV II teams.

They loss 4-0 to Hutchison and 2-0 to Father Ryan.

Again, Collierville, at best, was the 3rd or 4th best AAA team. Good enough to beat some teams, but not good enough to win them all.

Div. II and AAA were basically even this year.

well thats the funny thing collierville was the best team in AAA this year because of the parity in AAA now and the number of games played at weekend tournaments too you will never ever again see a undefeated team

You're right, Collierville wasn't good enough to win them all, but was good enough to win the ones that counted. And for that, they deserve the No. 1 ranking in AAA, but probably No. 2 overall. Afterall, they did beat Baylor, the D-2 runner-up. It would be interesting to see a match-up of the AAA champion and the D-2 champion each year.

Where did your rankings come from? These are the closest to accurate rankings

for A/AA. Looks like yours may be based on record only.......who knows.

The Districts and Regions are so unbalanced......record and progression to State

is not a true reflection of a team's strength.

1 Franklin Road Acad.

2 Knox Catholic

3 Chatt. Christian

4 Notre Dame

5 Chuckey-Doak

6 Columbia Acdy

7 CPA

8 Grace Baptist Acdy

9 Hume-Fogg

10 David Lipscomb

11 Jackson Magnet
