Whitwell looked a lot better than last year, in the one camp game I saw them. That doesn't mean they will win the district or region, but I see them being more competitive and pulling some upsets.

Besides the Cleveland area teams, Chattanooga has been pretty bad in basketball for the past 10 years.

 

Tyner has had some good teams.

CCS was good last year and is moving up to AA this year.

Grace had a good team when the Bass girls were there. Lookout Valley was good at that time too.

Brainerd has had some decent teams.

GPS has been good and may be the team to watch this year.

This begs a question...

 

Why is Chattanooga so weak in B-ball. Is it because we are strong in other sports?

 

Is it the overall weakness in AAU? Although I think that is improving.

Chattanooga is so weak IMO because of the quality of Elementary and Middle School coaching, They dont have much coaching at that level. Developing the kids early is the key. Most people in Bradley county start kids playing b-ball in Rec leagues at age 5 to 7 ,By 6th grade some have played for 5 or 6 years already. B-Ball is big here. I think you guys spend more time on softball than Basketball ,Hence you have great softball teams. But i havent seen a great team Boys or Girls come out of Chattanooga in ages,cept for Brainerd that one year,Its been pretty bad.

What about Sale Creek in A ball? How good will they be? Did Tiffany Johnson(think that was her name) graduate? She was a fairly decent player!!

...Runner-up to Walker Valley and lost in the Sub-state(Sectional) to D. Lipscomb...not bad considering this was only the 2nd year playing in AA...two years ago the "Lady Rams" lost in the Regional Semi-Finals to the State Runner-up McMinn Central...the Girls basketball in Chatt-town may not be the strongest in this part of TN but teams are improving every year!!!

When was the last time that there was a good Chattanooga team, boys or girls? (Besides Temple boys in A). I really can't recall any year that they have had a very good girls team? I wish they were more competetive on the girls side.

I look for Tyner and Brainerd girls to give Tellico and McMinn Central plenty of competition this year in 5AA. Central plays Brainerd in Jamboree Monday night so that will help answer some questions.
