This will be a great game. Alcoa has the advantage with big wins over common opponents Fulton and McCallie. I have never seen Alcoa play so I am not speaking from experience. Obviously they are in a different league than most teams in the state. The McCallie coach said he thought they looked like Miami (college).

Tyner has some great althletes, as does Alcoa. Tyner has great coaches, as does Alcoa. Tyner is playing very good right now, as is Alcoa. This should be a great game. Since the Rams are in Region 3-2A, I will be pulling for them. The Rams can and will hurt you every mistake you make. I know Alcoa is not just a one man team (Brandon Warren), but it has to hurt you to not have the #1 college prospect in the state playing Friday. Is it enough to give the edge to the Ram Train? Friday will tell.

Alcoa will win big. Alcoa by at least 4 touchdowns. Think I am crazy? Think again. After Alcoa wins big come back on here and I will tell you "I told you so." I am thinking Alcoa scores at least 42 and Tyner may score 14.

Alcoa 42 or more

Tyner 14 or less

I am not a fan of either team, but I am smart. Wait and see.

Alcoa doesnt need Brandon Warren to beat Tyner. Alcoa has 2 other D-I prospects (QB and RB). They will dominate Tyner just like every other team they have played this year. Personally I think Alcoa could win 5-A state championship if they have Brandon Warren. They have way too many offensive weapons. They are not containable. But good luck Tyner.

Hate to bring this up, but Alcoa is 0-1 without BW, and it get's old hearing about how good or great Alcoa is, when in reality the team is falling apart. You say

Alcoa "Will dominate Tyner just like every other team they have played this year"?

You say you "think Alcoa could win 5-A state championship if they have Brandon Warren. They have way too many offensive weapons. They are not containable"?

Well you are just full of yourself arent't you. Maryville beat Alcoa like a rented mule on their own field. Alcoa was dominated by Maryville in every way during that game and if the Classly Coach that Maryville has had not called off the dogs Maryville would have beaten Alcoa by 40 rather than the 20 they did beat them by. Alcoa has a good team for 2A but would not stand a chance vs. a quality 4A or 5A team like Oak Ridge, Riverdale, Hillsboro, Knox Central, Melrose and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head.

So enjoy your game with Tyner, the season you have had and stop hyping Alcoa into something more than they really are, just a highly rated 2A team that "Should" win back to back SC.

Hate to bring this up, but Alcoa is 12-1, with their only loss being to the defending 4-A state champs, the almighty, all perfect Murvul. As Coach Reid stated in an article in the paper yesterday, "This isn't the Alcoa Brandon Warrens; it's the Alcoa Tornadoes". As I said recently on a different thread:

"I don't think you can compare the Tyner game to the Murvul game. First of all, to be perfectly honest, Alcoa has always had some kind of mental block against Murvul; ever since I was very little I can remember this. Alcoa sees that red & black with the "Rebs" on the helmet, and they freeze up. Plus, Murvul is 3 times bigger than Alcoa; if they can't beat them, there's something wrong with the football club (ask the county schools about that!).

Second: Are you comparing Tyner to Murvul? BW is a very good, strong player, but he doesn't make the team.

Third: BW will be on the sidelines giving his team leadership and firing them up.

Fourth: Alcoa has adjusted nicely to not having BW this week; they've made adjustments this week that just may throw Tyner off.

Fifth: Will Alcoa have the upper hand since Tyner won't have the advantage of seeing tapes with the starters for this week?

As I've said before, Alcoa is still a very, very good 2A team."

Yes, jaw was doing just that: jawing! Guess he got your goat, huh? I'm a die-hard Alcoa fan, but the reality is that Alcoa could compete with 4 & 5-A teams, and they probably could've made it to the playoffs (if they had the team they have this year), but would they have made it past the first round? Probably not. It's ridiculous to try to compare a school with only a little over 400 students with a school that's 3 & 4 times their size.

Oh, and, it's getting extremely old having Murvul people continue to bring up the Murvul/Alcoa game; the kids don't do it, so why are adults continuing to do it?

Nobody likes a braggart.

That being said, good luck to Murvul tonight. It would be great if there were 2 Blount County teams having the chance to play for gold balls next week!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
