Did you get a chance to watch Kendall Albert? If so, what did you think?

if i remember right, a tech, pin and a major to the finals. obviously good but comp was a little guestionable. :)

really more impressed with his teammate 71 son. good competition and coaches must have thought so, hence the ow. :thumb:

Son has really worked hard to improve and it shows. I think the 171 from Valdosta will be his biggest challenge this year. Bess from Valdosta is the returning 171 pound state champ.

Albert...is just a 10th grader.

125 I Believe had the most seeded wrestlers,Wynn,Fink both placed D-2.Tisdale and Craig both state qualifiers,Shields B.M. 2ND in state last year at 112,maybe you question the competition, top to bottom might have been toughest weight class

1ST Brother Martin, LA - 257

2ND MBA - 256.5

3rd Grissom, AL - 182

4th CBHS - 173.5

5th Peachtree Ridge, GA - 173

Congrats to Coach Lewis and Simpson for their strong finishes here. Amazing how close MBA and BM ended up!! Reminds me of Franklin and Walton Ga., in the McCallie Tournament last season.

might have had the most seeds but both the bm wrestler and albert's road to the finals was relatively smooth. maybe they just outclassed their comp.

the wrestlers that albert wrestled at bh; the first kid was two and out, second was craig, who was 2-3 for 8th, and tisdale snuck into the 3/4 match and lost it. the bm kid had two pins, decent semi match and lost in the finals.

albert being a soph is impressive, i just thought his teammate looked better this weekend, which may or may not have been due to the comp. :P

we were updating team scores after each weight class during the finals and it was changing after just about every match. as close a bh as i can remember.

    • That was after the 2nd year of a 4 year cycle.  Since Covid we have been on a 2 year cycle.  So, there really isn't a "mid cycle" reclassification this time.   Idk if there's anything in place to address the issue of a school closing.  My guess is, nothing can be done.  This would be akin to the 1st year of a 4 year cycle, where a school has the 20% +/- but not allowed or even have the option to move up or down.
    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
