There is NO compaison to Maryville and Alcoa at the end of the season........no fan of either of the teams, but Alcoa would smoke Maryville at this time of the year......

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you sure you're not an Alcoa fan? Because that's about as fresh as the load of crap they tried to spill on us right after we ran them off the field and then played our freshman team against them for a half!

Not even close my friend. Alcoa would have been handled by Central, Powell, Morristown West, Melrose and probably also by Knoxville West and maybe Halls.

Not even close.

Have you actually seen both Maryville and Alcoa play...aside from the state championship games?

Once again I another low blowpost from a supporter of Maryville. I congratulated Maryville on their win and didn't make any excuses, they were the better team, why try to put down me and others?

Nothing low about it Gerry. I know you know so much about football and one of our 5A opponents, coached by a former Fairview coach needs your help.

Class 4A State Champions in 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, and now 2005.

I'll argue that 2003 should be on that list because they lost to a team that they were better than in Morristown West in the state semifinals and then Coach Quarles bunch got to watch the same Hillsboro team that they'd beaten in Murfreesboro the two previous years go on to win it all.

I'll always say that the Rebels Dynasty began on the first Saturday in December back in 1997 when they lost to Pearl-Cohn (in what was the Firebirds second consecutive state title) by a score of 36-16 over at Vandy.

Since then the rebels have won state titles 6 of 8 years and as I stated earlier it could very easily have been 7 of 8 years.

CONGRATS TO THE MARYVILLE REBELS ON A 9TH CAREER STATE TITLE FOR YOUR SCHOOL!!!!!

If I remember correctly mo-west should have been up 21-0 in that game, if the officials make the right calls. Maryville was not the better team in 2003. In fact west should have won both games that year but lost 14 - 6 at maryville in the regular season. in a very close game.

Congratulations ALCOA and Murville-(sorry, I just had to Maryville). I just wonder if there is any other county in Tennessee that has ever produced back-to -back State Champs in two different classes? Anyone?

It says a lot for the youth sports programs we have here in Blount County. These kids have been working towards this since their Pee-Wee days. It has a lot to do with the coaching and community support they get also.

We have the same tallent out there in our county schools also. We just need some players and coaches to step it up a notch. Guys, lets work hard and get one in 5A too. Wouldn't that be something! And while we are at it, we claim Greenback as our own, so we could sweep the classes one day. You may say I'm a dreamer, but we here in BC know it's possible!

Nope, there has never been 2 back to back champs from the same county. Congrats to both teams for outstanding seasons.

I agree......Huntingdon(learn to spell........also....it is Goodpasture)) is slow as syrup, but Melrose would not have a chance against Alcoa.......I don't even like Alcoa........Maryville is a great fundamental team, but not as talented as Alcoa......

Hey Brandon...EVERYONE always has more talent than Maryville...we hear about it every year...and guess what we are 30-0 the past two years...so whenever your beloved Tornadoes do that...come talk to us...we will be right here winning BC championships...Region Championships...and oh yeah STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maryville fans, don't waste your time on Brandon. He's just a message board troll, going from post to post talking trash.

Congratulations to the Maryville Rebels on another great season. You have a fine program with a lot of pride and community support.

Thanks Extremefury ... it's posters like yourself from Oak Ridge , plus your classy coach , Coach Stevens , that cause Maryville fans to support Oak Ridge ....( now see if you can do something about Hitch !! :thumb: )

Coach Stevens has always been a friend to the Maryville program , including his Austin East days , it was a totally classy move of his to congratulate our boys as they were leaving the field .

I agree completely...Coach Stevens is one of the classiest in high school football and a great person to talk to. He is wel respected around Maryville and has already built his new program up a little...great seasons to OR, Alcoa, and Maryville. B)

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
